I'm looking to buy a new 19" LCD monitor and was wondering if anyone had any prefferences/suggestions. Looking for something around the $300-$500 price range.

I use a Dell 17" flat screen monitor and I've never had any problems with it.
Viewsonic is a good brand too. They've been around longer than most.
I have a 19" and had 0 problems, no dead pixels, etc.
Got a Samsung. 22" 3000:1 contrast and 2ms refresh rate on top of 1680x1050 resolution all for 300 bux. I'm now tight in the pants permanently when looking at my monitor.
I get tight in the pants looking at you.Originally Posted by Bebopaloo

go samsung, i cant say it enough. ive bought 2 samsung 19" in the last 6months and omg the color and quality on them is just amazing.
Take a look at http://www.newegg.com. I like looking at the reviews, sorting by lowest user rating to highest so I get an idea of worst-case scenarios for the item. Like say for instance, Acer sucking ass with some sort of "No signal" problem on some of their monitors after anywhere from a few hours to a few months worth of use (appears to be common around the 2 week mark.) Very helpful in knowing which brands to avoid.
LG L194WTX
... or how about that LG L226WTX ;D
LG = no thanks
Reasoning?
i remember their old brand name and it sucked ass and have had bad experience with them.LG Group is a large South Korean chaebol (conglomerate), which produces electronics (including domotics), mobile phones, and petrochemical products and operates subsidiaries like LG Electronics.
Created in 1947 as "Lucky-Goldstar", it assumed the abbreviated name of "LG" in 1995. LG is also an abbreviation of "Lucky Geumseong" (럭키금성) in South Korea, which is translated into English as Lucky Venus (Goldstar). Before then, many electronic products were sold under the brand name Goldstar, while some other household products (not available outside South Korea) were sold under the brand name of "Lucky." The Lucky brand was famous for producing household cleaning products and laundry detergents in South Korea. Before massive industrialization of South Korean society, the name Lucky was synonymous with toothpaste.
You said it. Samsung = best bang for the $$$. I've got 2 Samsung 20.5" Widewcreens. Had them for going on 5-6 months now. The color is amazing, the quality, etc is awsome. I got them each for $245.00 and couldn't be happier with them.Originally Posted by izembo
I'm quite satisfied with the LG brand in it's current state.
For LCD they work with Phillips if I recall
which is all still inferior to samsung and thus is irrelevant.
since this thread about monitor, is that wise to buy a refurbish lcd monitor? Just because my current refurbish crt monitor still working good after using it for 5 years. But now just planning to change into some wide screen lcd.
refurbished lsd prolly has some dead pixels in it, not something i'd personally want.

At the electronics store I work at for mob job number 2, Acer LCD screens are the cheapest. Sometimes you can get deals on HP LCD screens with PCs. And this other company called V7 does a cheap 22 incher.
