He does die in the end. All you need to know is he is 'supposibly' the father of relm.

    You don't even need Sabin.
You can finish the game with just 3 ppl.

Half the characters are useless, but you need 12 for the final dungeon because you split in 3 teams so.

Yes if you can somehow get through kefka's tower with 1 person in each pt heh.

Celes ---> Edgar --> Setzer --> level grinding --> Kefka.

It's doable, just go grab an offering in the forgotten city, and swap it between your character. Can pretty much one shot everything on your way

Yays, I went back to my old save file, re-grinded everyone . It honestly wasn't that hard because

    a) I knew what I was doing this time around
    b) I forgot that you get 500-1500 exp per battle, so grinding isn't hard at all.

Now I'm back to the part where I enter the cave to follow Edgar* around.

What was annoying , I did a quicksave earlier after I was about 45mins in, I loaded it back up, forgot I didn't equip Terra with Zona Keeper before she ding'd, reset the game and lost everything all over again <_< gosh I need moar memory.

I just grind all my magic on the veldt while farming Blue Spells and Rages and leave the espers with the stat boosts I want on full time when I am fighting mobs that give xp. That way I don't have to remember to check TNLs on my characters.

Also, if you're going to use espers to max Shadow's speed, get Cactuar. You'll know where you get him; you fight Cactuars there. I wouldn't try for it until you have Reraise, though. The monster you fight to get it has a 10x 1000 needles finishing move. Only survived it with 2 reraises. Cactuar, while having few spells of consequence, offers Speed +2 on levelup, superior to Odin's +1, and also lets you swap Odin out for Raiden. Handy, that.

Um...I only remember Cactuar as a summon in FF8. Did they add him in FFVI Advance?

Yes, advance adds 4 additional espers.

Not really a spoiler, but just in case people want to find it themselves...In the desert west of Miranda, you fight Cactuars and Slagworms. Slagworms can be a bit dangerous, as they counter with Sandstorm, unblockable party damage move. Cactuars have very high evasion, but anyone equipped with an offering and a sniper eye can wipe one fast, even genji/sniper can in two rounds. When you've defeated 10 Cactuars, the next cactuar fight will be Giantuar, a monster that uses 3x 1000 needles every round, and can counter with 1000 needles as well. Then it finishes off with 10x 1000 needles, like Master Mage or whatever in Fanatics' Tower.

Anyways. It's only really worth doing if you do it early, so I'd recommend it right after you get Phoenix and learn Reraise. Just have someone dedicated to Reraising and one dedicated to Curagas, and have the other two fight. You want to make sure some people survive the end, but you need to do it fast before you get attritioned to a loss.

The other new espers are Gilgamesh 500,000 gil Exalipoor in Jidoor AH, trade in Colluseum, Leviathan take the boat from Nikeah to South Figaro or vice versa after getting Edgar back, and Diabolos beat all 8 dragons, then defeat the quite-difficult Dragon's Den, one of the new areas that does not require the game to be beaten; Diabolos is aquired at the end, after the boss.

Gilgamesh is pretty nice, better than Raiden really -- Quick x1 and Valor x5, forget the stat boost but Valor's...kind of neat. Gives a boost to the next attack for all party members, but this does NOT carry over into multiple hits. Only the -first- attack is amplified. Good for gauntlet characters like Cyan.

Cactuar's got some meh crap; only thing good is the Speed +2 (which is, admittedly, damned nice).

Leviathan teaches Flood, a new AoE spell, but hopefully you'll have Ultima soon, and what's the point in casting anything else?

Diabolos teaches Gravija, new Gravity spell, but I haven't gotten it yet so I don't know how powerful it is (I imagine 9/10ths). Of course, Gravity doesn't work on anything worth using it on, and the +100% HP bonus on levelup is kind of useless once you've beaten Dragon's Den, so it's more of a Show esper than anything, imo.

Shadow was more useful in the SNES version. Steal from the boss right before Kefka. Get Atma Weapon, throw 2 at Kefka, game is done.

    Or...

    Locke w/ 4x-hit & Genji Glove.
    Atma Weapon + Valiant Knife.

You could make yourself a sandwich to enjoy the ending with as Locke fucks him up.

    Man my SNES doesn't run my copy of FFVI anymore, and all the emulator versions I see are in JP ;;

Anyone have a link to an english version of it? I really don't wanna have to search pawn shops and what not for a new copy.

    http://fantasyanime.com/

Has FF6 in various versions which can be patched using other files found on the site. This includes a fan translation that's a straight translation from the original Japanese game, no editing.

The site also has some of the best RPGs ever made for the SNES, and has been one of my favorite emulation sites for years. I personally recommend Terranigma, as it never got a US release. Enjoy 8)
