    Console wise:

1 system gives you the option to pick and choose. Make your own kind of console. (all together, everything peripherals/attachments included add up more than the all-in-1)
1 system gives you the all-in-1 package. Everything included.
1 system is family/party oriented. Going for the mass market and brining in new gamers with new technology.

    You have choices.

The lines blur a little when the option to pick and choose keeps adding new things, and removing others and the difference between the all-in-1 and the pick and choose isn't that drastically different in terms of format/price/features.
I think this one post sums up the entire "console war" the best that it's been summed up on this board in a long time. My job aside (which inherently biases me towards one gaming console) I enjoy all three for their strengths, and I think most gamers will do so eventually, as well. ( I just wish my PS3 and Wii would get some more fun games soon ; ; )

Me? I won't get the elite. I don't have a 1080p TV and I rarely save shit on my HDD. Thing is, this doesn't make me lose out on ANYTHING whatsoever. You're forced to buy the PS3 with that huge price tag to play the games. You PS3 owners are DESPERATELY grabbing at anything that will remotely compare... when in reality, it doesn't, it's still cheaper and not even mandatory.

Only bone I have to pick with MS is that I have to buy Crackdown to play the Halo 3 Beta. But that's a small price to pay I guess and I don't see Sony letting you beta any of their eagerly awaited gam-- wait, there are none.
Can you sync without a Media Center capable PC?
Pretty sure you just need Windows Media Player 10.

Isnt 10 only availble for computers running Vista? A piss poor gaming OS that copied OSX down to almost everything in terms of GUI and such and that should have never come out?

You don't need fucking Vista for it. Just Windows XP. My girlfriend figured out how to do this shit and she's no computer expert, so my guess is most people can do it.

All you need is XP and you have to download the Zune player. Its easy and you can watch/listen to all your stuff from the 360. Wired or wirelessly

Whoa calm down there sparky. I must have heard my friend wrong or he was talking of a different version of media player. 11 maybe? No clue.

Edit: My bad, he had said DX10. Not media player.

Is that by any chance the April issue of Game Informer?

When this was first rumored it was going to have built in HD-DVD, the 120gb harddrive, black shell and HDMI weren't nealy as intering in comparison to me.

    Here's what I've heard:

-Elite Black will be only available in limited quantities at $479.
-When they run out, the Premium bundle will be replaced by a Elite White for the old Premium price of $399, in time for Holiday 2007, or maybe September with Halo 3's release.
-Premium becomes the basic pricing of $299
-No rumor on what would happen to basic if discontinued or reduces accordingly to $199.
-Will include HDMI, and the 65nm cooler processor.
-Won't include HD DVD, the DVD drive is faster than the HD DVD drive so it has better loading speeds. But the rest of the HD DVD players are undergoing ~20% markdowns in April, so maybe the add-on will to.

Oh, and IPTV compatible with built-in PVR, hence the larger hard drive.

No HD-DVD = useless... I was actually hoping they would release it with an HD-DVD intact so it would allow future HD-DVD games.

A bigger HDD doesn't do it for me, I can just transfer stuff away if I want to, and i've yet to fill up my current 360 HDD and it's full of stuff.

HDMI? What 360 game actually plays on 1080p? Maybe once one actually does i'll consider but until buying this, but until then component works just as well as HDMI for 720p games.

    NINJA EDIT:

    Exo says:
    if i really want a black 360
    Exo says:
    i can buy the skins
    Exo says:
cus MS will release em for sure
    Exo says:
    if i want a black 360 controller
    Exo says:
    i can just buy one
    Exo says:
cus its still the same controller
    Exo says:
and as for the bigger HDD
    Exo says:
im sure they'll sell it separately
    Exo says:
HDMI? who fucking cares, 360 isnt capable of playing shit in 1080p anyways
Pretty much sums it up for me heh.

Yeah so all early adopters are screwed and forced to buy a new 360 or the HDDVD add on. ~_~

Well right now all the early adopters are screwed anyways heh... even though you could probably buy all the new stuff, (minus the HDMI, which doesn't really do anything except make it easier for you if you have a free HDMI slot and no more component slots available on your HDTV) even though the new stuff will cost more to buy separately (at least the 120GB HDD will i'm sure.)

Right, so you're not really screwed then. Being screwed would be being completely unable to play a game because it's on a different disc. Partially screwed at most, as having to pay probably around $99 for the 120G HDD would suck.

100 bucks? I would think they would charge more, to make it worth it (or seem that way anyways) for you to just pick up the new console heh.

But yeah I guess you're right... either way, I don't plan on picking up the new console.

I could bet you 2 dollars that Gamestop/EB games will have some kind of promo to trade in your old 360 for a new one.

I like what Microsoft's doing with this new box, the DS Lite worked wonders for Nintendo. And how many people whined and complained then?

This is very true. But on the same token, what PS3 games play in 1080p? Less then a handfull. All the HDMI does is make things a wee bit easier for developers who cross platform their games. As for 1080p on Xbox, a friend of mine said they updated Gears a while ago so that it supports 1080p, but i never looked into it.

Gears doesn't play in 1080p... I doubt 360 ever will play in 1080p, but i'll be as excited as the next guy if they ever do.

As for GS/EB, i'm sure they will do something, but you will still have to fork over a good 2-300 bucks or so to buy the new one.

It might just be cheaper to buy the new HDD and controller if you really need them, at least until HDMI will actually be needed, at which point it won't cost so much.

Just my 2 cents, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Oh and PS3 will eventually play in 1080p, probably FF13/MGS4 if not before (Heavenly Sword.)

I like the HDMI.. less cables to the TV since I can hook everything up to my receiver. Lack of built-in HD-DVD on it kinda sucks though.
