Osode vs. Manteel

I had a manteel for a total of a week and a half before getting rid of it. Osode is just too nice, and the Osode/Dalm combo can't be topped (until a couple months from now when a Marduk body pops up on some JP guy that won't tell anyone where the last piece came from.)

Can't really get Yigit, spamming Nyzul / Salvage. I'll prolly keep osode though, may just farm gil for Manteel if I like it.

Takes like a whopping 2 weeks of non Nyzul Spam to get Yigit.

Errant/Mahatma Hpl. + manteel/yigit

Osode is next to useless, you want the -emnity more than +mp on HNM, and you want -spellcasting time in merits.

I'm speaking only from bard point of view ofcourse.

Lets put it this way - you can easily get another item (for your bard) that performs almost the exact same function as the osode in the houpplade, but you cant (assuming you cant get yigit) get anything like the manteel.

I still don't see how people put so much emphasis on -enm on BRD. Like I said in the other thread, I typically have -12enm at HNM and have never once pulled hate without being a dick and tossing out Mazurka. If I'm not pulling hate then what advantage does Errant offer over Osode? Less MP wasn't a benefit last time I checked.

Personal choice I guess - I never find myself short 30 mp. In any event, max mp is pretty much a non-event, since you can wear the osode for the first 30 mp and then it is doing less for you than a hpl. is, unless you are getting hit that is.

As for not ever pulling hate on bard, I don't doubt it. If everything is going as intended and you have skilled people, hate wont ever be an issue. But not everything is always smooth, and sometimes emnity really matters. Moreso than 30 max mp from the bard ever will, in my opinion.

Personally I have 0 desire for an Osode for BRD. My personal preference is for manteel(for xp, dynamis, limbus) and AF+1(HNM). That being said, I'd trade them all in for Marduk.

Is there an option to trade back at a later time or not?

and yeah.. my salvage/assault schedule is:
Sunday + Monday: Salvage, Thursday Nyzul Isle Assault (3 tags) So, as you can see it is NOT very easy to get points for the rare/ex assault point gear if you have to follow a schedule like that.

Swap into full Yigit if MP is needed.

HQ Manteel+ Loq + Rostrum + JSE Ring + Forced latent through Zenith + Serket + Vivian for Merit.

Osode = Not for Bards.

if you're keeping it for RNG go ahead, nothing wrong with that. but the choice is BRD or RNG much more than Manteel or Osode.

Anything's possible if you want it. Personally doing Salvage 2-3 times a week and I still have around 30k Assault Points saved up, with that number increasing every week.

While I agree with what you said (though one could concievably argue for swapping in a Minstrel's Coat for wind debuffs) that kind of gear isn't exactly feasible for most people, so you have to look at the situation realistically. Most can't afford to purchase a manteel or an osode let alone all these HQs.

I firmly believe this is a choice between jobs more than gear. RNG = Osode, BRD = Manteel

For someone like me who is constantly trying to find inventory space to carry gear for my jobs, Osode is the only way to go. I always go for pieces that can satisfy more than one job.

Yes there are other options for brd, but you're not exactly "gimp" with it either. And as for ranger, you don't really need an Osode if you are an Ebow ranger. Osode helps more for the Obow rangers. You can prolly do better with other armor if you would rather shoot arrows.

However, rng and brd are some of the most inventory space consuming jobs in the game. I would recommend you go with osode and save space whenever you can.

Well, errant marginally > osode for anything non meritting >.>

Left it out on purpose since all of the above would be reasons why you don't need a osode at all, whereas not having the -stats from errant can be very beneficial.
