Osode vs. Manteel

As thread topic says. I have an osode right now and can trade for a Manteel. Osodes usually around 9 in rolanberry, sometimes 8. Manteels were 14m on AH but just dropped to 10m. But if I do trade I don't really want to sell. Jobs are in sig, although I use togi mostly on MNK. Also leveling RNG currently so I'd miss osode there!

Lol Osode is like 4m over here and Manteel is like 12-14 >_>... and even though I agree with everyone about keeping the Osode, if I was in your position I would totally hop on that Manteel just for the looks and the E-peen.

All depends on 2 things:

1: How often you will use the jobs in question?

2: What will you be doing on the jobs?

This is ultimately going to boil down to which job do you value more/think you'll end up playing more (between BRD and RNG). Osode is not the best body armor for your other jobs. It IS however an extremely good body armor for RNG.. enough of what you already know.

If you think you'll be on BRD often and rarely on RNG, I'd say go for the manteel. It is really nice and you can in fact notice the difference, certainly in merit where you need to be quick on the pull. However it's not all that if you do HNM BRD where you might want to use Errant/AF+1 body.

People say to get Yigit body. That's definately a really nice free option and if you don't think you'll be using BRD all that much then that's probably a good way to go. However I know for me I would have a big problem getting the 20k points needed to get it because of my Salvage/Assault schedule. I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting more Assault Point gear back when that was all AP were good for

What is your personal preference between osode and manteel? I assume you've used a manteel at some point. I don't own an osode but I've held them for my linkshell at times and used one on BRD. Personally, I wouldn't trade my manteel for an osode ever, and if I did level RNG, I'd just steal one from a friend every time I wanted to use RNG!

It's totally a matter of personal preference. Any way you could hold off on your decision until your RNG is 75? Then you'd have a better chance of knowing how much you'll use either job.

Well the Manteels the LS got from Bahamut v2 cashmere and a bunch of people in LS still want osode's so the LS offered to trade me if I wanted to, I actually have both on me now but have to give one back to the LS lol. I admit manteel is sexy as hell, and that's all that really matters on BRD so it's definately a desireable peice. I may see though about aquiring another Osode eventually for my MNK(/RNG when it's finished) because I do quite a bit of soloing on that and Osode is really nice for that too.

I had a manteel for a total of a week and a half before getting rid of it. Osode is just too nice, and the Osode/Dalm combo can't be topped (until a couple months from now when a Marduk body pops up on some JP guy that won't tell anyone where the last piece came from.)

As a BRD I'd rather use Osode than Manteel. The -cast time only amounts to about a second on your longer songs, and while it may be beneficial for merit parties, IMO it's not worth the price tag (in my case millions of gil, in your case price = Osode). And I don't really have problems singing/pulling without it anyway.

Considering your other jobs (and future jobs), keep the Osode.

What do you use your BRD more for? Endgame stuff or merits?

For merits, combining Manteel with other fast cast gear makes a little bit of a difference when it comes to efficiency.

But if you use it mostly for endgame, then an osode is just fine. You get 30MP which is really nice and 10CHR.

I prefer Manteel over Osode. The difference is not that big. I have plenty of MP with MP gear and 3 CHR won't make a drastic difference to me, having plenty of skill gear and CHR gear.

All in all, the difference is not monumental

Lets put it this way - you can easily get another item (for your bard) that performs almost the exact same function as the osode in the houpplade, but you cant (assuming you cant get yigit) get anything like the manteel.

If you're levelling RNG to 75, keep the Osode and opt for a Yigit Body.

I never wanted an Osode, and opted to get Choral Justaucorps+1 instead. I worked my arse off for Yigit Body... then about a month later LS killed Bahamutv2 and I got a Manteel. XD Still don't want an Osode though. Always thought it was really ugly.

manteel is a fuckton times better than osode, osode is just for looks really.. i think as much as fastcast/song casting time down is the best way to do bard now, especially with how fast merit parties go, its important for the bard to be able to keep up.

with the setup i use now, i cast all my songs @47%. really great. you can get a gomlek i guess, but of course, you wouldn't be getting as much fast cast as you could

I still don't see how people put so much emphasis on -enm on BRD. Like I said in the other thread, I typically have -12enm at HNM and have never once pulled hate without being a dick and tossing out Mazurka. If I'm not pulling hate then what advantage does Errant offer over Osode? Less MP wasn't a benefit last time I checked.
