I don't have much opportunity for cardio, outside of walking our project during my lunch break, it's dark when I get home from work/errand running. I do some light weight lifting in the evening three times a week, but I don't try to build bulk anymore. And I fucking hate running.

    Edit:

I dont want to nitpick, but the only thing you'll accomplish by cutting out a massive amount of calories from your diet is deflating like a beach ball. But if you're dead set about it, at least take some vitamins to make up for that lack of nutrition.

Edit: 40 pounds in 3 months isn't going to work, especially when your focus isn't on exercise. Realistically, the most a person would be able to lose at a health rate is about two pounds a week considering that about 3500 calories makes up a pound.

Oh yeah, if you really want to lose weight, change your eating habits. Don't just starve yourself for a short amount of time to lose weight because it will come back.

HAY GAYZ, I NEED SUM HEPL.

That out of the way, I need BG's help or die! I'm currently a bit underweight. I'm 5'6 and weight 115 pounds. Before I started to eat 1800+ calories (4 weeks ago) I was about 113 pounds ;/

What would be a 'healthy' diet to keep the intake of 1800 calories? I'm fking sick of eating the same crap ; ; (cerial with fruits in the morning, ham eggs for lunch, or any other thing cept fastfood, and rice for dinner, and chocomilk.)

No fast food plz or crazy shakes from gnc.

First thing I did was stop drinking sugar. Coca-cola, my love, had to go. And the beer. I replaced the cokes and the beer with about a gallon and a half of water every day. 1K calories a day might be too little, I'm not arguing that point. This is an experiment. I'll say right now I know damn well I won't be able to keep it up for an extended period of time.

Edit: I'll take that into consideration City. I know the habits are the real issue, but I feel like I need to condition myself to eat less in the first place.

Pretty sure you can get a feel for how many ounces each one is, and just look it up on google. That's what everyone else is going to do to give you an answer.

Are you trying to bulk up in terms of muscle or just trying to gain more weight?

Well, either way, you might want to try eatting more calories, like around 2000-2200 mark if you can stomach it. Try eatting cereal like Rasin Bran or Grape Nuts in the morning. They're high in calories and plenty good for you.

As for lunch and dinner, try inserting more meat into your meals. Not only are you getting more calories out of it, but like any diet, you're going to want to get a lot of protein. Too many people think that since you're underweight, you can just eat whatever and it'll even out. Not true.

As for other foods to focus, rice and pasta are good in terms of nutrition and calories, but take it easy on those type of foods. Don't worry about fruits or vegetables since they're more filler foods in the sense that they don't have many calories and do a good job filling you up since they're filled with fiber. That's not what you're looking for.

Do not cut your caloric intake so low... you will damage yourself... seriously bad idea.

    I'd drop to ~1500.

I was 230ish, dropped mine to ~2k and started exercising and dropped down to 150 in a matter of 12 months.

What kind of exercise was it? Cardio? Weight lifting? A mix of both?

About 2-400 calories in a croissant, depending what type you get. And 1,000 caloric intake a day is retarded. Go to the gym and eat HEALTHY (i.e. not 1,000 calories a day of soup and a croissant lawl) if you want to lose weight. Don't starve yourself. I've tried it. Doesn't work so well.

ugh are you retarded? 1000 calories is not sufficient unless you dont plan on moving around at all and have a super slow metabolism.

if you want to lose weight you need to not be lazy and exercise. AS WELL AS eat every 2-4 hours, fist sized portions. why every 2-4 hours? because this keeps your body from going into starvation mode where it stores everything you eat into fat.

your biggest meal of the day should be the earliest ones and cut to a low carb, low fat dinner; preferably eatten 6 hours before bed. a fruit snack 3 hours after dinner should tide you over till breakfast when you eat a larger calorie meal.

build leg muscle as well, theyre the largest muscles in the body. larger more developed muscle means a higher resting calorie comsuption. that results in lowering your BMI%. also by doing cardio its not burning the fat that day, but it raises your metabolism over all.

i garuntee eatting 1000 calories will not only make you unhealthy, but youll lose more muscle than fat. fat is the last thing your body burns really.

only drink a flavored drink for breakfast and/or lunch, only water after that (water throughout the day though). if you dont incorporate a decadant snack in the diet than itll fail. diets are meant to be how you eat the rest of your life, not how you eat until you lose the weight. oh and buy one of those little pocket pads where you can write down everything you ate, then at the end of the week you can lookup and tally the weeks intake. daily intake doesnt matter, its really all about the week so long as youre eatting the correct way and not binging.

Academy sports will sell you a weight bench for $58 and a starter bar/weights(55pounds) for $19.76. The additional weights are pretty cheap after that.

Muscle = metabolism = weight loss

30-60 min of exercise a day is FREE. You get that time back by sleeping better and getting more done while you are awake.

If you want to shrink your stomach, drink a glass or two of water before each meal. It'll prep your stomach for the meal by filling some space that will shrink back down once the water's gone. Just cut your portions gradually according to what feels "full" after drinking the water. If you start getting cravings for food when it isn't "meal time", drink some water. It'll stifle the cravings for the time being.

The key is to do it gradually. Doing it too fast makes you hungry all the time and risks stealing nutrients from muscle, or worse, bones.

If you wanna play it safe (or if you don't already), pop a multi-vitamin every day to keep your nutrients topped off.

I don't think you should look at it in terms of the amount of food you're eating, but rather finding food that has a higher calorie count.

    All I gotta say.

But seriously? 1 plain 5 oz croissant with 1 pat butter contains 268 calories.

Eight months of eating at soda and chips at 7-11 plus a sednitary lifestyle has gained me about 40 pounds. I didn't even notice it till this month (I've always been overweight and my body stores fat well), I have since quit drinking soda and eating donuts thereby cutting my calories to approximately 2000 per day. I'm hoping to have that 40 gone in 6-8 months and then I'll see where I got from there.

Kids, don't eat 2 meals a day at 7-11, especially if you're a programmer who gets little to no exercise.

From someone who has done it before: Don't do it.

There was a time when I was hard-core playing FFXI (a.k.a. rarely ever doing anything) that I only intook 500-1k calories per day. I lost about 70 pounds in about 3-4 months, going from 210 to 130.

But that's not the whole story.

When you are low on bloodsugar, you can hardly move at all without blacking out. There were several times I litterally had to crawl on my hands and knees from my room to the kitchen, having to stop often, because I kept starting to black out. There were times laying in bed where the chest pain was insane from the strain that this put on my heart, to the point where I really wondered if I was going to die.

And this is with me just doing ffxi all day, hardly doing anything at all. Not having to get up and go to work and doing other things throughout the day.

And you think the weightloss will help you aesthetically?

Like others have said, it takes more toll on your muslces then your fat. Even though you lose a lot of weight, you're body looks heavier then it actually is, you'll have a shit load of flab, and you'll lose so much strength.

Not only that, but stretch marks aren't just for pregnant women. It happens whenever your body/skin goes through a quick change, both growing and shrinking. I have streth marks over my stomache, covering my shoulders, all up the side of my body. You think that's attractive? It's fucking not.

Yeah you'll lose weight, fast. But it will have a dramatic effect on the rest of your body. It's about being healthy, man. Stay healthy, eat healthy, and just exercise.

Do you work out at all?

As strange as it might sound, exercising will actually help you put on weight. It makes you a LOT hungrier then you normally are. It's just that, unlike with losing weight, you'll want to intake more calories then you are burning. And trust me, when you're exercising, you'll be very hungry and easily will be able to intake more calories.

It's rough sometimes, like when I'm sick for a few days and don't eat much, my clothes will be too big for me when I go back out into the world.
Haha, this won't last forever. I was the same...then I met beer in college. After college, I met desk job. I'm 6'2 215 at age 27 now...I've put on 40 pounds since college. I feel disgusting.
