I read the thread, and the only answer I saw came from you.Originally Posted by senoska

And this time, not even Werner von Braun can answer that.
I was talking to Taj during the entire experience. The GM gave up. And don't be doubting Werner von Braun that fucker is smart.Originally Posted by Khamsin

I think I speak for everyone here when I ask you to kindly shut the fuck up Senoska. General questions about crazy math formulas tend to go to the crazy guys who generally answer them (i.e. VZX, Aurik). General questions about something that happened to a specific group of people (i.e. getting on Atomos) tend to go to people who were (i.e. Taj, Wizer and that other guy).
Great, you were talking to someone who was there, my grandfather had a friend who fought in World War II, he never went, but he talks as if he were there. I fucking hated him for it.
See I didn't answer the crazy math question, mr von braun did. Its not rocket science. I'm going to answer a question I know the answer if its a retarded question.Originally Posted by Rocl

YEA I SEE THAT SCREENSHOT RIGHT THERE LET ME MAKE IT A BIG MATH PROBLEM
mSTR(VIT*DEF/HMWAWCCC)^howmanywutssagesundisaysonadailybases = HOW MUCH FUCKING FAFNIR HITS FOR.
It's rather obvious mobs don't adhere to the same damage formulas that we do.

Kel: AWW HERE IT GOES
Admittedly I don't sit there and stare at formulas all day, a lot of the math I adhere to is rather quick, convenient and anecdotal (or just word of mouth from people I trust), I was rather sure a player can, at best, hit for a 2.4x modifier with a critical raising your damage by 1.0x with a cap of 3.0x
Using the (likely faulty) logic that my D50 axe hits for about 181 (or is it 183) critical ca, it means faf's D is about 174 (once again, this is very loose math). That said, as it stands damage and crit formulas do not change according to the D of the weapon you are wielding. If it does when your D hits over 120-150, we'd never know since we can't wield weapons of that caliber, and as such the mob would still not adhere to the same rules we are restricted to.

Couldn't this explain this kind of a damage fluctuation?
well the problem is along the lines of 640/3 != 640/2.4
the mob dmg formulas should be similar to those for players, but having a cap on non-crit of pDIF=3 would explain that result.
there's no reason why the simple damage would be capped at 640 anyway.
it's strange that his pDIF on a crit would happen to be 2.4 regularly, but not impossible >.>;
it suggests fafnir DMG is close to 190.
You know, I was hoping this thread would get to 20 pages, and your argument might do the trick. Keep at it plz Divisor/Ryko! :3
It doesn't need to be. 640 isn't Fafnir's crit cap, as someone else already mentioned they have been critted for 640 (sometimes), and more than 640 (also sometimes). 640 isn't divisible by 3 anyway, so it clearly isn't calculated with a 3x pDIF modifier. It then stands to reason that the 640 crit occurs when, even though Att/Def and fSTR are all capped, the random element of the damage formula did not produce a pDIF modifier of 3.0 for that particular critical hit. Therefore, Fafnir's crit cap is not necessarily equal to Fafnir's non-crit cap, and the conclusion that enemies necessarily follow different rules than players is shown to be false.Originally Posted by mikazuki
