It should be easy enough to test. Take a Lv. 1 mule and a WHM friend to KRT, let the Lv. 1 get killed by Vrtra a few times. After about 20 deaths, if the highest crit wasn't divisible by 3, mobs probably follow different rules than players.
I think you're just adding fuel to the fire to achieve higher page numbers.Originally Posted by Taj

Um... 640 isn't divisible by 3, unless I really, REALLY suck at math.
i may also be wrong, but that's always what i've thought.Originally Posted by Jeryhn

What it's divisible by isn't really the operative part here. And if it's not all it does is support the notion that a monster still doesn't apply to the same rules we do. I'm not as personally convicted towards finding out the true math behind why a mob hits the way it does, just the base fact that players and mobs roll with different guidelines.Originally Posted by Millael

vzx mentioned that the damage formula is just a model, so there are some conclusions you can't make by using it.
for player damage as well as mob damage.
do you think fafnir DMG is close to 150 div? i think it should be higher, fstr should come to 30-40 if you applied the dmg formula to fafnir, so DMG would be 170-180.
that's really speculative though.

I might be mis-remembering (even a word?), but I thought Aurik posted a SS shortly after he got his relic of him attacking a Groundskeeper and all attacks, normal and critical, were doing the same damage? Would look it up, but I honestly have no idea where it would be.Originally Posted by Ryko
on monday at kirin, my tornado II's did the same damage every time (assuming no resist, and the last one was actually windsday so it went up to like 1200) ) at like 1075. Every one. Three kirins in a row, about like...10 casts of the spell, 7 unresisted all did the same damage. Go figure.
But yea I think the mobs and people are running on the same *basic* calculations but the mobs tend to be VERY stat based (ie str/dex) and not so much atk/def based...at least thats why I always assumed bst jug pet damage scales all funny from comperably matched mobs to much underleveled mobs....I know I don't hit a TW mob for like 400 a pop <_< That and they obviously have different rules for how they are impacted by their environment.

5 hits.
The only thing I find strange about it is that the level 1 charater has like 0 def but a GM has a shitton and still gets hit for the same amount. A GM has like what 500-600 DEF via their gear? But I'm not very good with math, just figured i'd point that out :<
Oh Critical Attack, how many good threads have you taken from us?
You know I have a screenshot of the whole log, right?

You should have asked him to CFH it.
Oh man that GM must have 5500 HP or more!
if the gm is lv1, then any level differential bonus, if one exists, could eliminate all effects of defense gear.Originally Posted by senoska
maybe fafnir's D is 160 and pdif is capped at 4?
