No raise to my end when I used the 80buck plan on it. It's been reported that using that plan 4x didn't do anything either, though. My choco is trying to learn canter now, so as soon as that's done, I'm going to try raising a new one.

    Regarding retired chocobos:
If I retire my 8/6/4/1 gallop/canter choco, can I still get cards for him, and race him until my new bird is ready? Also, could I race my retired one, and use the chocobucks on the new one as soon as he turns adult?

I honestly didnt take note on item since my bird win itemless all the time anyway.

But, if you wanna make a chart

3 super chocobo uses speed apple
    AstreaII also uses speed apple
    Musashi uses Stamina apple
    GoldRegen uses Fire Biscuit
    TwinRidill uses Gysahl Bomb

Lemme know if I missed anything

Yes, you can get cards by turning in your VCS reg card to the guy you check your choco with. I still pull cards from my first and second chocos, long since retired.

and I don't know on the second thing. ^.^
I believe there's two chocobuck options for stat raising? One for your current chocobo that you are raising now, and one for your retired chocobo? You can use your chocobucks on your retired one with the "Raise stats on retired chocobo" option, until your new one is ready then just switch to the "Raise stats on currently being raised chocobo" option and continue to spend the rest of your chocobucks on the new one.

Bah. I've now used the 80 buck upgrade on my bird's A Bit Deficient Discernment twice and it hasn't gone up at all either. So if it only applies to low enough stats they've gotta be really low.

Anyone know if Zegham Carrots actually lower STR/END or just boost REC/DIS?

Chocobo dyes only affect the chocobo you're racing and only when you call it, including H&C (meaning a yellow will be yellow on the race track, no matter what color you dye it).
From that, I can gather that the stats boosts only affect an adult chocobo that you are raising AND have registered to race (probably before the stat lock).

If it only affects the chocobo you're racing, but a yellow is still a yellow on the track, doesn't that sorta cancel each other out?

Also, its a given that that stat raise option only affects the chocobo you are raising, since there's the other stat raising option that is specifically for retired chocobos. So if the currently-being-raised-chocobo stat raising option doesn't work after stat lock, then you could just retire the chocobo and use the retired-chocobo stat raising option.

But it sounds like you'll need a few dozen to bump it up a level, at this rate.

Besides, since the 80 chocobuck option is for only a slight improvement, why not save the extra 10 chocobucks for the larger boost to stats, to see if that makes a difference? Unless you're trying to raise stats on your retired chocobo, in which case you'd use the 100 chocobuck option, anyway. Luckily, that one doesn't say "slightly".

I suppose I could have been more clear.
Chocobo dyes only affect the chocobo you have registered to race and only when you call it in the field, be it with a whistle or the H/C grass.

    um....100 chocobuck raising option?
There is none. Not in Bastok, at least.
In any case, I was trying to explain why the 75 and 80 chocobuck options don't seem to work for some people (though I don't claim to be 100% certain on it.)

the 75 and 80 options specifically tell me that "the programs are only available to adult chocobos still residing in the stables."

Raising a new chocobo, so I'm gonna try maxing out all my chocobucks in the main cities then raising stats a few times in a row once it matures (literally just put it in today -.-)

So far the only test I've seen had the subject be passed the "stat" lock day... has anyone tried with a chocobo in its growing prime?

PS: What happens if I want to join the Windurst team? Can I use my chocobo? Do I lose him? Can I use the Windurst offices to do San d'Orian races?

no one has tested it as far as I've seen.

yes,no,no on the second part. You can use the same chocobo, but you have to go out of that office - no doing sandy races in windurst. Also, chocobucks and official race progression is saved like mission/conq points with changing nations.

Okay then, that's cool, I need to finish my Sandy missions soon. My plan is to buy enough food for a perfect chocobo in the future(so it's practically free) and then save the rest to use that stat boost thing 2-3 times.

Since I'm switching to Windy in the future, I won't be able to save those points.

What about the 90 chocobuck option for the larger improvement to the stat, as opposed to only "slightly" for 80 chocobucks?

I'm just basing this off the datamining this guy was referring to:

um... just out of curiousity (how ever you spell that)

"For 80 chocobucks, you can enroll your chocobo in our intensive training program, improving an ability of your choice"

Does that mean you can improve abilitys like gallop or canter to get a even faster choco or longer riding time? I dont do racing atm because my bird just hit day35 so i dont know anything about the rewards yet.

Dyes cost 50 chocobucks, not 75.

It seems to me that there are only two possibilities:
This stuff is fake, or the 'item' options 75 through 100 haven't been added yet.
Point being, right now, there is no way to raise the stats or abilities of a retired chocobo and while there is an item in the dats to dye chocobos, right now you dye without using it.

If the original post were made before the update day, I would have said this is stuff they had thought about implementing, but changed before launch.
I mean, why add chocobo dye items and not add them right away while adding a system that lets you dye without them?

My guess is someone took what they saw in the dats and "extrapolated". but i haven't seen any options past 80 in the current chocobuck dialogue.

Dunno if anyone still cares about this, my chocobo hit adult today (day 29) and had better than avg str and avg endurance. It had reached avg endurance on day 25, and was on Carry packages plan all throughout. I used the 80 point stat increase for endurance and it upped it from avg to better than avg.

Assuming it takes more than 25 stat points (according to ffxiwiki's chart) to up a stat, then the 80 point option gives at least 5 points, but likely more since my endurance raises slower than my str (and the 25 points/level was based on the str raise). Unknown if it decreases any stats but when I switch over to trying to raise mental stats I'll repost, I plan to use choco racing to get 80 points every 4-5 days so that should be enough time to use the 80 points 5-6 more times.

So yes, stat option does do something, but the quality is yet to be determined.
