ok I got my swapmagic wee XD
need a little help =x
for the 1st part, the one that goes over the on/off button, do I just.. put it on there? Do I have to slide it to the right or anything?
I got the 2nd one in the right place
and I think I got the 3rd one in the right place <.<;
much appreciated XD
edit: not too sure about 3rd one.. it looks a little different than:

shitty mspaint drawing:

The one on the left is the "official" one, the one on the right is mine. The "hook" part goes the same way, if I face it sideways. If I face the rectangle in the same direction, the hook goes off from the top right <.<;
Which PS2 version do you have?
If it's V12, the 3rd piece should've gone in pretty smoothly... now you need to make sure its bottomost part is being pushed into the switch very very hard so it can hold it down (its at the top left part, you will notice a slight bump when you go over it if you push it down, so you know you're on the right spot.)
As for the first piece, you want its edge (the part that is kind of bending) to push down that little thing you see on the switch (if you take it from left to right, you see how it goes down when you put the 1st key over it)... then, you want to make sure it stays down and holds it, so what you do is you make sure that the EDGE of that bended area is UNDER the entire open area (as in, you want to make sure it's "stuck" on the rightmost part of that hole, so it won't be able to just lift itself up during gameplay and stop it.)
After this, put a cd in and LEAVE THE TOP ON, ALWAYS... don't even bother closing it anymore...ever. Now, put a random cd in to see if it spins. If it doesn't, mess with the 3rd key while the cd and juggle that key around the top left area of that hole (you won't see it, just mess with the upper part of the key and keep pushing it down until you see the laser starting to work.)
If you need more help IM me.
EDIT: It doesn't matter how it looks, it will go in and work regardless of its position... just keep messing with it and push it down until the laser works.
I have 14/15/16(some sites say different <_<)
I got 1 and 2 in, having a hell of a time w/ 3 still. Does it "fit right" without wiggling once it's in the right place?
I got a v12 and it went in super smoothly cus there's no dumb metal plates getting in the way...
But once it gets in, you should aim for the left and it should land right on the thing... then you just press it down and put like some tape over and it and it should hold it down.
If you can't get it through and there's no way, try using some flashlight. If that doesn't work, I suggest buying double sided tape and just opening the ps2 up and sticking that little button Sony hides oh so well from us down. You won't have to mess with the ps2 a lot, just open the cover and put the tape over the button (it's pretty obvious which one it is cus you know where you're trying to get the metal thing to), and then you don't have to worry about it.
But yeah your call.
ack, I got it in right, went diagonally lol
now i can't get it to go again <.<
wiggle it around that spot then if it doesn't spin the cd. and make sure you got the first piece pressing down... stick some tape over it if you must, its gotta be pushed downward.
it is a pain in the ass to install the magic keys, but once you get it done right you never have to touch them anymore and the gmaes work just as smoothly as everything else (both imports and backups.)
GOT IT SPINNINGGGGGGGGgggggg woot
Ok, trying to test out my burned Suikoden2 CD before I burn some DVDs, having trouble running it =x
i don't think it likes staying pressed down D:
idk, everytime after I put my cd in and put normal run, it goes to a screen that shows my memory card <.<
are you sure all 3 pieces are in place?
Also, make sure it is the DVD COPY of swap magic you put in, because there is a DVD COPY and a CD COPY, DVD is to load up DVD backups/imports, and CD is for CD backups.
You put the dvd in, let it spin until it stops... then you take it out, put your other cd in, and press X... it should start loading it after that.
I'm trying to run a CD so I'm using the CD, no luck so far ._.
Maybe the backup's bad? Just try some original game.
Booting up regular CD game --> success
Booting up Swap Magic CD --> Regular CD game --> failure
Booting up Swap Magic CD --> Burned CD game that works on my chipped psx --> failure
edit:
Botting up Swap Magic DVD --> Regular DVD game --> success
gonna try burning something now ;x would like to be able to play psx too though
Try a DVD.... even an original NTSC game, just to see if it loads through magic swap. If it doesn't, your keys aren't in place. (1 and/or 2 that is, if it's spinning then #3 is at the right spot.)
Also, press #3 down hard and then tape it because it might not be pushing on the button strong enough, and it just stops after the first cd is loaded.
Burned DVD.... SUCCESS!!!!!!
woohooo
thanks for the help XD
although, I'm still not sure what the problem with the CD one is :/ I suppose I could always just use my old psx but... meh, I wanted to play them on ps2
Maybe it's got a scratch on it or something.
I can always make a copy of the cd magic swap if yours is messed up and just send you the copy... try burning a new one later and see if it works.. if it doesn't i'll make you a copy of mine. (if it works... gonna have to test it heh.)
Already downloaded a v3.6, gonna burn and test it in a bit
Sounds good.
I'm glad the dvd is working at least, that's the most important. Now import FM+!~

I use the combination Flip Top/Swap Magic. Is that what you're using? It's Swap Magic 3.6 also, btw.
I had problems at first with burned stuff, but I imported Naruto: Narutimate 3 and it worked just fine. I use an old Algebra book now to keep it on top of the lid and keep it closed because I had problems where it seemed the white piece that's on the lid wouldn't stay down hard enough to keep the disc running, but when I put a heavy book on top, it solved the problem. I may import FM+ though. I'd download it and burn it to a DVD, but I tried that a couple times with FFXII, but I could never get it working. Ah well. I like owning the original game anyway.. get all the nifty doodads it comes with.
lame it's not wanting to read the burned swap magic cd ._.
edit: lol, the burned one isn't running because it's a burned one, and i don't have a mod chip <_<
email whoever you bought it from and ask for a replacement.
