    New Motherboard

My motherboard just recently broke and I sent it back to newegg.com, where I ordered it, for an RMA. They didn't end up having the exact same mobo, so I got a refund and ordered a new one. My question is, will I have to reformat my harddrive after I put the new mobo in? I've heard Windows can be a bitch about that. If it helps, I'm running a shitty beta version of XP.

It depends on the new board. If it's a good brand and has a solid driver set, you might be fine. I've been able to switch boards before and have windows remain stable for months on one box, but on another windows flops almost immediately.

It's basically a case of try it and see. Things like this are why partitions win, at least if your drive is partitioned it's just a case of sticking windows back on there and installing games etc, rather than losing data.

Chances are you will have to reformat.

I've never used a new mobo and booted successfully into Windows.
