On what job?

i have -10 only and do fine.
Enmity- is really a placebo.
If you're worried about equipping for Enmity instead of other things and the -Enmity is just a bonus on the gear you're choosing, then there's something wrong with your tanks.
Diminishing returns after around -30. I idle at a little over -30, cure in about -20. Total overkill.
Well, where I have Enmity- theres really nothing all too great to replace it with. I still have a good amount of MP+ still. It just so happens I have that much Enmity- on >_>Originally Posted by Ashira
-enmity merits should make you good. even on RDM where I have to be cure bitch (and no hateless Cure V, but do have to do DS Curagas) I barely have any actual -enmity (tamas ring, maybe a few more) and I'm usually fine except for extended fights. Just have to run off during converts.

Thats the point.Originally Posted by Evelyn
No, it does help, lol. After removing my -enmity merits I definitely have noticed a huge difference in the amount of enmity I get in merit point parties especially on RDM. Pretty sure that it affects the amount of spike enmity you get from things like Cure IV and your enmity decay speed as well.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
Yeah, -enmity helps out a lot! On my BLM I have around -28-30 enmity and I have capped -enmity merits. REALLY HELPS OUT!Originally Posted by Seditedi
But then, Ohemgee, if you're getting too much hate, you could probably load up on some more, or get better tanks.

WHM is fortunate that much of it's best gear has a good amount of -enmity associated with it.
Blessed gear is loaded with MND and -enmity. AF+1 gloves are fantastic. Hedgehog Bomb, etc. You don't often have to make a choice on WHM as to -enmity vs a useful stat.
Honestly how much -enmity is right for you is very dependant on both your play style and your tanks. If you've got good tanks you have a bit more freedom. However if you have novice tanks -enmity becomes more critical for not pulling hate. Throughout my time as a HNM WHM I've gone from having to log out to reset hate every 30 mins. to never having to log as a tank party WHM. This is a combination of the improvement in both gear and skill for myself and for my tanks.
Eliminating Cure IV from your spells is probably the best thing you can do for your enmity. The only real reason to use it is if you either have to do a big cure and don't have the MP for V or if you're actually trying to gain a bit if hate. (e.g. if I notice that a BRD or RDM has pulled hate I'll toss them a Cure IV to try to spread out the hate a bit better).
-30 is a pretty good place for a WHM. I wouldn't sacrifice any critical gear spots for it. No need to gimp yourself by running around in raven's gear just for the -enmity.
If you want specific advice on your gear, list it and I'm sure people would be happy to give you their opinions on it.![]()

General All-Purpose Idle gear i wear for regen/-na/sneak/invis, stuff i want haste for, but dont bother to macro with my nashira manteel
Cure Gear is just for cure spells >_> lol
The numbers really are variable, but most of the longer fights that i have to deal with, i'm on smn more often than whm. But no macro is set in stonei'll tweak them based on what PT im in (ultimately who im responsible for, outside-PT mp-expenditures [
thats cute] dont get macro-rewrites).
A large part of understanding your hate vs your tank's hate, is understanding when to cast spells, and what spells. If you're the only healer left (god forbid) and you only have mp for cure IV, and not cure V (where you would want to use cureV), you CAN DSeal CureIV your tank if you directly follow a voke or a flash, and not pull hate (depending on how good you've been earlier in the fight). But situations like these are rare, so its harder for less-experienced whms to learn that you can walk into the minefield
if you put your feet in the footsteps of your tank :D
If your happy little whm-sense is tingling and you feel your should hold back, occasionally step over that line and perform little tests here and there (with stoneskin and blink up of course, and standing next to, or behind a tank) to test your gear and that of your tanks, and your support ability vs your tank's ...tank..ability LOL :D Its kind of like a little diagnostic, if you keep your eyes open, and during a more standard event, test some changes in your gear, in your tank/tank PT's gear, to see where the hate line has moved since you last pulled hate.
But if you're lazy, you can always hold back and claim the whm-sense was tingling
(I dont really do the diagnostic thing very much anymore~ i find it to be a big pain in the ass because i never end up with any hard data, just a lot of those "feelings" where something [bad] is gonna happen. But i guess thats as good as data.)
Yay whm-sense![]()
The only thing I asked for was where Enmity- caps.
