Mel Gibson, Imus, and Borat will all go down in history as comedians (maybe Gibson's a little crazy and Imus is a little racist) that the world just didn't grasp. Stop being so serious all the time and laugh once in a while. Yeah, Imus called those girls "hoes"... big fucking deal. And Gibson made some drunk remarks about Jews, but lets be honest, who hasn't had one two many drinks and called your closest friends a filthycocksuckingjewbag?

on the contrary. But we have boundries..just like Christianity, unfortunately many many christains dont seem to care if you degrade or mock their religion, we do. Is it wrong to have respect?
Boundaries like you know, running into coffee shops and blowing up civilians.
thats terrorism, im talking about religion. thats the problem with many westerns is they mix those two together.
[quote:a130b]Tupac: please dont get caught up in the mix, cus the media is full of dirty tricks

Funny, what prompts many "religious" people to live a good life leads how many others to kill themselves to expel the infidel and be the sword of Allah?

Terrorism in the east uses Religion as a tool to guarantee eternal life and to justify what they do. Don't be that foolish to think they aren't closely related.[/quote:a130b]

you're talking about the same religion that demands us as muslims to help the needy, to not harm/torture animals, to respect all other religions, to be hygiene, to be good your parents, to seek education and knowledge, to be humble and equal to all races, genders...hmm, the word islam is derived from the word "peace". if some arab maniacs missunderstand their religion or relate their act of terror to this religion then you should believe them? as you said they are terrorists, why the hell are you taking their word for what islam is? i dont get you.[/quote:a130b]

I'm not taking their word for it, I'm well aware of what Islam stands for as I've read the Qu'Ran. My point was that you stated Islam and Terrorism are very far apart, and while they may be for some, many people use it as a crutch for their cowardice. If you read what I posted before I stated that terrorism uses Islam as a way to advocate what they do, not that the actions of a few are how the entire religion is.

Actually fuckface, what I said in my post was that the guy should get off the air because he sucks, not because of one comment. He has a history of being a poor radio DJ. I brought Howard Stern into it because the guy has a history of doing shit like this and people laugh about it. The minute Imus does he's some fucking nazi. Was he right in what he said? Not in the slightest; but for every one who makes a comment about black people, how many make comments about "Crackers" or white boys on the radio? I dunno about you but I see a double standard here.

Funny that you left out the part of my post where Al Sharpton, the savior and moral spokesperson of many African Americans was a drug dealer back in the 70's, but thats ok right?

I'm not a racist in the slightest, I don't see how you could think I was; perhaps you should read up on just what that word means before you start throwing it around.

thats terrorism, im talking about religion. thats the problem with many westerns is they mix those two together.

Anyone else literally choke on irony when they read this? Just me? No one?

    Yikes.

Regardless, guy who posted the diatraibe to ressurect an old thread, let me point out the differences between the examples you brought up and the situation that lead to this thread.

Septimus was talking about prople that, on his server and many others, engage in massive RMT operations and live in UAE. Did he say all RMT are UAE? No. Did he say all UAE are RMT? No. He stated a fact- albeit in a sarcastic fashion.

Now, If you are UAE or arab, why take offense? Was he talking about you? No. He was talking about a specific group of people. Here's an example. When I was in college I was in a fraternity. If someone said "frat guys who do nothing but drink all the time are bad" I would agree. There are guys in fraternities that drink far too much- even in my own- and indeed that is bad. I WOULD be offended if someone were to say "Frat guys drink too much and are bad" because that makes assumptions about people. That lumps the entire group in when they don't always belong in that category. One os a qualified and true statement. The other is a broad generalization making a large assumption. Do you see the difference?

Now, take Imus. Granted I think his comments were inappropriate but the circus over it is a bit overdone. He said things about a group of people that were intentionally demeaning and knowingly untrue. Is that what happened with septimus? No. His post was irony and humor based on the truth about a particular and defines segment of the population. The fact of the matter is that this is a racial issue- a black guy calling a group of women nappy headed ho's wouldn't be even brought forward as an issue. And that is in large part the real significant problem with that issue. Comments were inappropriate, and should be looked down upon regardless, not glossed over and excused when one race says it and heavily penalized when another does.

But to finalize my retort to you, guy who brought back up an old topic, the problem you bring up is that "americans like making fun of other people but can't take it when tehy are made fun of?" Is that your point? Are you...Are you REALLY going to try to make that argument? There's a fucking show in England called- I am not making this up- "Dumb American" featuring clips and interviews with random Jerry Springer rejects of society. Do we riot? No. Who cares. But some dutch guy draws a lame picture of muhammad and all of a sudden it's free molitov cocktail night at the local mosque. Yea. We're the ones that can't take a joke. Right.

even a black guy would be in trouble, though obviously less trouble than a white guy. feminist would still be all over this.

this thread being rebumped reminds me of a move called Reign of Fire. Not a very exceptional movie but it had its moments, Matthew McConaughey being ripped out the ass and looking steroided, carrying a giant battle axe and having a tank hunting dragons. One line from the movie really sums up what people want to believe in this thread.

Only one thing worse than a dragon... Americans.
that was a fun movie, but yeah, the truth of the matter is, we can take a joke, some others not so well

Oh my bad you're right. All those rappers, comedians, etc that use the exact same terminology all the time are all being dropped left and right from their TV contracts and their record lables etc. My mistake.

A book writer/book store owner/large black activist goes on CSpan and says that the only solution to all of the worlds problems is to "exterminate all white people" and no one gives a fuck. A white guy says "nappy headed hoes" and the world explodes.

Who is the one turning nappy headed hoes raciest anyway? I didn't hear him say "those black nappy headed hoes"

"Nappy headed" in of itself is an implication of race, it's generally only used towards black people.

That said people fail at understanding context or using it to their advantage. For a lot of people it doesnt matter how it's said.

I thought this thread was getting kind of dangerous and should be locked... but I guess in the end it's just words.

Once people figure out how to send bombs through the internet, we're all screwed.

So, it's unoffensive if you're unsponsored?

How about another example- During the last winter olympics, Bryant Guble- ironically the whitest black man in america assuming jacko is still in Bahrain- editorialized on the state of the games. He basically said that the winter olympics were a joke because they included so few black atheletes. He ignored that the vast majority for the overall lack of black athletes in the games have little to do with racism and far more to do with geography and social customs (ie, winter sports are just not as popular with younger african american communities as the more traditional track and field sports). He went on to say that the games lacked legitimacy because there weren't enough black athletes parrticipating. This is an incredibly racists sentiment- and I can say that with confidence because we'd call a white guy saying NBA lacked legitimacy because there weren't enough white athletes racist- and it generally assumed that were black athletes more common in the winter games that they would by default be better than the white athletes. It basically said "you'll never have a real champion until it's a black champion."

Did you hear about that? I am guessing you didn't. Not many people did. News didn't cover it, he was not fire/suspended. His shows did not lose sponsors.

The fact of the matter is that there is a massive double standard of who can say what. If we are striving towards equality then the race of the person saying something should be irrelevant, and we should focus on the INTENT of the words, and how those impact us.

    **edit**
I don't know if you happened to catch any of Imus on Al Sharpton's radio show but Fat Al actually busted out the "you people? What do you mean 'you people'" line on Imus when Imus said "well thats what I'm telling you people" referencing those persons in the room.

At some point you have to wonder if people are trying to find something thats not there at all costs.
