It's Holocaust. It did happen. And this is fucking retarded. They don't want to offend Muslims, yet by not talking about it this is offensive to me as a Jewish person. People should know about what the fucking Nazis did, whether or not they're Muslim.
Happy Passover, by the way.
edit: You know. This whole article is really fucking stupid. They're afraid of anti-Semitic behavior? Fuck that. It's HISTORY. No matter if you don't fucking talk about it still happened. It's always going to have happened, because it is history. Dropping crucial parts of a history class because you're afraid a fucking Muslim is going to QQ at it at you is retarded on everyone's part. Ugh, this really just 'grinds my gears' as they say.
Fixed![]()
How is that offending muslims?
Pretending it didn't happen doesn't make it go away.
People are fucking retarded.
Wow thats pretty much fuckin bullshit.
You do not have the right to not be fuckin offended in this country.
Why dont we just completly rewrite our entire history while were at it.
Teachers doing that are silly, and I'd hope the Islamic families and students would be more tolerant.
That said, I empathize with the Islamic point of view regarding what is taught in history classes. Many classes only concentrate on "western civilization," to the detriment of eastern and middle-eastern teaching. I'd love to see a more balanced teaching of "world history" rather than the extreme focus on the western portion. I'm quite a few years removed from high school, but the only instances where Islam was mentioned was during The Crusades, where they are portrayed in the enemy/evil role, or in discussion of the Moorish invasion of Spain where the same role is occupied by these individuals.
I am neither Jewish or Islamic, just an outsider trying to understand this never-ending struggle.
You have got to be kidding me... I really wish this was an April Fool's Day joke, but of course it's not with how stupid people are getting now. ~_~
History is there so no one repeats the same mistakes again, which is why it needs to stay in schools, no matter how bad it was.
You can't understand it, so don't bother.

How is this any different than teachers refusing to teach evolution in classrooms in places like Arkansas.
People are VERY stupid.
VERY VERY VERY stupid.
I stopped being surprised long ago, this is just funny.
In 8th grade, I remember my Social Studies teacher covering all the world religions. I also took World History in HS, which was a required course, and was separate from the required U.S. History class.Originally Posted by DoliantheBard

I think this is different from evolution because while evolution has been 'proven', people still speculate whether or not it's true for whatever reason.
In this case people are saying that the Holocaust, which did in fact happen, are saying that it didn't, and that it wasn't important, when in fact it was. And they're saying it to not hurt some fuckup's feelings. That's why it's SO stupid. Tons of shit has happened to everyone, in every race and religion in History. But it's all important. None of it, especially the important parts like WWII and the Holocaust shouldn't be left out. It's utter utter bullshit.
Lawl let's talk about WWII and leave the Holocaust out, in which over 2 million+ people died.
But I totally see where you're coming from from this comparison. I just think this is really ridiculous on an epic scale.
I went to a Catholic High School (problem 1) which included four years of religion. The second year class was ecclesiology, or the study of the church. I also took world history the previous year. Never, at any point, did we discuss the corruption of the church, or how it has been a political tool and a pawn in countless wars, border arguments, etc... Lets just say history in college is much more...accurate.
Point is, high school in general is a joke, and the history they teach is so subjective to both their location and religious affiliation that you may as well just sleep through it and take a class in college.
I actually thought of an interesting question. In high school, we covered slavery as an institution for roughly a couple days and spent the rest of the semester on the civil war and how the north were heros (like when studying WWII a lot of teachers emphasize our being heros rather than the atrocities of the Holocaust. Watching Schindler's List in class does not count.) My question is in the South, do they talk much about slavery in class? How do they present it?
Fact: History is written by the winners, hence why the winners always look like the "good guys" and their enemies are made look like the "zomg evil people" that tried wiping them from existence.
Well Andarvi I didn't go to highschool in the south (or highschool in the north really, homeschooled myself for most of it...) but while in college here in FL. my American History prof. spent alot of time covering slavery, and Native Americans. I have an excellent history professor if I do say so myself, and I think that him covering slavery to the extent he has done is really important.
And again, just because it was a horrible time for black people, it is a part of our fucked up history. You can't just say "oh talking about slavery might offend some black people, let's just pretend it didn't happen." It doesn't work like that...
saw the title of this post and was like wow this is fucking retarded, my family lost people in the holocaust.
And happy passover lbelle![]()
Any Religion > Jews.
Agreed. You got lucky with your professor.Originally Posted by Lbelle

On topic, this is just stupid, while High school, and imo most of the education system in the US, is a joke, they shouldn't be completely fucking it up like this.
