Very true, only reason I got the laptop in the first place was to play games at work. Plays FFXI for 4 hours before I have to plug it in.

I've got one (Core Duo, bought it before they upgraded the product line ;Originally Posted by Rotsu

Customer service is great, OS X is amazing, and it looks damn sexy. I'm incredibly bias, though.
Yeah i always tease my friends when i boot up windows and run my circuit simulation programs faster than their dells and HPs lol. And Apple just updated bootcamp, just to let you know.
If you are considering a Macbook, OS X is really really easy to use. I am new to Mac OS myself, and i figured out everything i need to know about it in a couple of days. You can PM me if you have question or ask here.
If you dont want to go with a macbook, i recommend to stay way from dell. Toshiba and sony have he best and most reliable laptops out there i think. And dont NOT go with a high end gaming laptop, they always have problems.
I could never get use to Mac's and their one button mouse. Those macbook pros sure are sexy though!.
My work one (which is the bane of my life) is a Toshiba - it doesn't boot up sometimes and is jammed full of the unecessary crap they installed at the factory. However it IS a school machine, and any PC that has 5-11 year old kids inflicted on it for any length of time tends to become a disgusting spyware ridden steaming turd anyhow.
My other half has a Compaq that has caused him no end of problems too. My last (own) laptop was an Acer and that saw me really well - until it got nicked![]()
Depends what you need the laptop for.
Everyday use and just MSword and junk- Get a Dell
Computer Art/Graphics/Webpages etc - get a Mac.

I almost killed my friend after he bought this so I could have one to myself.
Thats cool then, was in a rush last night so I didnt really read it to be quite honest.Originally Posted by megabyte
Another thing you need to think of is if the laptop has an external docking station.
My last job we all had laptops but we had this clamshell attachment for external ports.
It used the laptop screen but you had a full size keyboard mouse and it propped it up a ton. Was real nice on it.
Had one at work, I didnt like the screen honestly, staring at it wirelessly for more then 10 minutes made my head feel like it was going to assplode.Originally Posted by Syn
I've always used Sony laptops and never had a problem. I even got a free battery through some rebate for one of them.
Macbook (or Pro) >_>
It's not like you can't dual boot Windows on it.
Only real downside is the single-button trackpad, since you can't really just replace it with a multi-button mouse like you can with Apple desktops. There are ways around it, sure, with keyboard combos...
I'd stay away from alienware, the laptop I have from them has been sent back for the 3 rd time.
also, I've never met a single person who hasn't had horrendous troubles with Dell, be it the machine, customer service, the billing department, whatever. Awful company.
HP laptops, Toshiba, and Acer ftw.

Love the design, Love the performance, Love the silence (except if you're using the DVD drive
Too bad it's not too good in battery saving mode (or I don't understand why my CPU usage goes up to 100% most of the time during battery saving)
I have an HP Pavillion that I bought about a month ago. I like it a lot better than the Toshiba Satellite I had. For me one of the big selling points is feedback from the keys while typing. The Toshiba felt cheap, whereas the HP feels like a real machine. It's also got a nice widescreen display, GeForce 7600 display adapter, 512 MB RAM, 80 gig hard drive, Intel Centrino Duo T2250. I use it primarily to view websites and to dual-box FFXI and it's performed very well. The display is bright and crisp. It's also pretty quiet which is nice, especially after the noisy Toshiba with its loud fan. I really don't have any complaints about this one, and so far would recommend it.
vzx thats nice but those reviewed specs have it with 2048memory, where did you get it from with that much?
I use Asus because they're one of the few makers to put decent graphics in portable laptops.
Well now you have. I have a Dell XPS desktop, and 2 Alienware ALX systems (Aurora laptop and Area-51 desktop) and have never had a problem with the alienware computers, and only thing I had wrong with the XPS was the ATi Radeon card fried while playing FFXI last year, got in contact with their tech support, a tech drove out to my house and replaced the card same day for free.Originally Posted by abadd
Not sure what problems those people you have met had, but as far as their customer service/tech support is concerned, they are alot better than most. (Try getting in touch with Square Enix and see what happens.)
Mine came with 1024 MB only, but definitely upgradable to 2 GB. I just don't do it because I don't do multi-tasking on laptop as much as I do on desktop (My desktop has 1.5 GB)Originally Posted by Boyiee
yeah i was looking for a core2duo 2ghz 2gb-mem non-shitty nvidia card laptop to buy to play ff/wow/bf/multitask at work and school, trying to keep options open since they are all about the same price (unless its dell or alienware then its 300+ more)Originally Posted by VZX
