bards should be completely exluded from this thread. no one cares about bards. if a bard say "hey, i don't have any accessories and only AF1" you'd still invite them. <_< my two favorite bards wear complete shit for gear but its just gold when we're on chain 200+ and some douche runs by, checks him, and it like "wow u r bg worthy"

also, people who are butthurt form losing pull desperately grasping at whoever they can find who are obviously wearing something as flamebait or probably just forgot to change gear is gaying up this thread.

and with that, i have misplaced my epic screenshot of the hume BLM/WHM at the pudding camp wearing warlocks earring and a mana ring. :/

I despise people with this mindset about bards. I take alot of pride in my job and put alot of effort to get the best gear for my bard. Seeing people level bard just for meriting and gear it with completely crap gear... makes me cry inside. It just peeves me when people come along "well you could come sing naked and people wouldn't care!".

This isn't "slightly" gimp or "complete shit" for gear. And I'm not buthurt from losing pull, that bard wasn't even on the same level of Nyzul as me, and I was playing Red Mage at the time. This is a Bard wearing a multi-million-gil highly desired JSE piece, and a junk level 16 staff that most people put back on the auction house at level 51. Even NQ staves would be better, and likely cost less than the Signa.

Then there's the earrings/rings. Not one of these enhances a Bard's role in party, and two of them cancel each other out. Evasion earring and -evasion attack earring? That's some smarts right there. Then the Wedding Ring and Empress Band really show how much this particular player cares about Bard.

This wouldn't be so bad if they were doing all this in Errant and AF1, but they're not. They're wearing a Sha'ir Manteel. At least they could put a little effort in.

Back in the dinosaur ages of ffxi and my first hnmls, I remember doing sky with a random new recruit who had blm at 75, no moldy, mp rings, no af, wearing mostly errant/nothing. After the third time he did double-digit damage on suzy I /tell the sack in charge about it. His response?
"LOL who cares its a taru, tarus can outdamage everyone even naked."

I have never met a good player at any job, no matter how 'easy' others think it is, in absolute gimp/crap-gear. Good players will usually make an effort at job-relevant gear.

This was after we rushed from Khim to Turtle to Behe. Was /rdm for Khim, changed to /whm after my bad for having Haste and Fast Cast in my Stun Macro. Merciful Cape for nukes, get a clue and don't SS people while they are resting during an interval.

You should see RMT on my server. It'll make you emo. Some of them have pimp rare/ex gear, but they seem to keep those for the less bannable areas like Delkfutt's and Boyahada tree.
