At first I was hoping it was just a shitty accuracy gear setup, but the next day i saw him meleeing in the exact same gearI guess it isn't too bad, but i don't see why you would merit with thief knife (unless he changed his main hand to heart snatcher) and pahluwan hands

hq fetish I guess, thats a Spider torque and a Quantz's earing
*waits for his linkshell to come defend this*
hehe. I'll defend myself. That's my skill->MND set for difficult mobs (minus the head; just got it so I'm showing it off!). Considering I don't have Nashira legs, name me one other pair of legs that would be better on RDM for: Grav, Silence, Bind, or Sleep? I use Mahatma for Para, Slow, and Blind. Not to mention, the -5 enmity is great for Cures as well.
My RDM is definitely budgetted from what I had available from my other jobs. I wouldn't necessarily say I have a HQ fetish, considering I don't have Devotee's +1, Enfeebling Earring, Communion Earring, Elite Beret +1, etc. I manage from what I have to work with; and Wise+1 legs came cheap.
All my gearsets are in my livejournal if you really want to call me gimp.
Edit: btw, town pics=fail
lol I was kinda wondering, that hat was out of place XD.
HQ pants are decent if you are having trouble landing anything and don't have access to af2hat etc. But still :s
What, exactly, is wrong with them? They're an accuracy piece for spells that don't have INT/MND modifiers. Is that bad? Even if I had relic hat, why wouldn't I pair hat+wise legs for additional accuracy on said spells (taking into accout my previous statement that I don't have nashira legs)? If extra INT/MND wouldn't do anything, why forego extra accuracy?Originally Posted by Tricen
The one thing I would look at with that really is whether or not you feel that enfeebles are in any way like nukes in terms of having more of the relevant stat than your target. Personally, I've had some experiences that point towards that being so, but it's not like I've done any extensive testing on it. Still, I'd be inclined to give +8MND/INT the benefit of the doubt when stacked up against 3 MAcc. So not what I'd wear, but not terrible either.
also, likely sticking my hand into a hornet's nest here, aren't there tiers of gravity, some stronger than others? i've noticed some mobs under grav moving slower than others, some to the point where they nearly appear bound, and i'd attributed that to a stronger effect, which could only be modified by int i'd imagine. as a shitty ass RDM (TM) though, i'm not comfortable speaking with authority on it, only asking if anyone has more concrete evidence.Originally Posted by Isiolia
Mobs have different movement speeds at the very least. I really am not sure on how it works exactly. Far as I know Gravity has degrees of sticking, at least in terms of duration, but that's also hard to determine due to how SE likes to single it out for built-up resistance.
I just know I've seen better results from mixed setups in some cases, like Dynamis Xarcabard NMs, than I have from all-out skill. Taking into account the INT-focused high end Elemental builds, I find it very reasonable to assume that a similar system may apply to Enfeebling accuracy as well.
There's also the simple matter that INT or MND presumably gives some measure of accuracy, just not as much as a point of skill or MAcc. A 2:1 ratio, common for melee stats, would make Mahatma > Wise +1 in that regard. You certainly wouldn't put 3 ACC in over 8 DEX.
Hard to really say, though in my opinion the 3 MAcc is so marginal that it wouldn't do much past a placebo effect anyway. The 2 MAcc on my Goliard didn't change anything noticeably, and neither has my Balrahn's ring. I used a Wise Cap for a while on Dark Magic before just moving towards Fast Cast/Haste options too...and saw no change.
Which is to say, I've seen more corrolation towards a decent stat bonus helping than I have a few points of MAcc. So you won't find me sporting Wise gear.
actually, this seems plausible to test, at least for the tiers thing. grab a naked elvaan blm and an int built taru blm, just to exacerbate the effect. find 2 of some EP that won't hit too hard and won't link like a bitch. lesser colibri may be a good choice. stick a grav and line both up at some arbitrary "starting line" in a flat area to rule out pathing. both players run a modest distance away and find if either of them get there first or if they tend to arrive together. repeat several times to get a statistically relevant data set, mixing up positions of the players every few races to ensure pathing is identical. draw conclusions based off of collected data.
I've always wondered how much m. acc helped in overall sticking of debuffs, I know as a COR, it's a noticeable difference on proc rates when warlocks is on a rdm vs when it's not. However I don't believe it's known how big of a m. acc buff is with a rdm in party.

Kazzan, Lvl 40PLD/20WAR. I forgot to grab a screenshot of his gear but I know what it all was. I think he was going for a "latent effect that I can't break or are useless" setup.
Wing sword +1
Kite shield
Silver mask
Silver mail
Healer's mantle: Latent effect of MDB, active while /whm which he was not.
Wolf gorget +1
Silver mittens
Rapier belt: Latent effect of sword skill +5, active while /rdm which he was not.
Wrestler's earring: Latent effect of +30 HP, active while /mnk which he was not.
Killer earring: Latent effect of +5 attack, active while /drk which he was not.
Empress band
Reflex ring
Silver hose
Silver greaves
This was his full time gear. He also only provoked once per fight, right after the pull. I ended up tanking most of the time. Also, if you look at the screenshot you can see Elejand... has over 100 TP. That was our rdm. No, they weren't meleeing. They were pulling hate and got over 100 TP just from getting hit.
Edit: I found him in Jeuno after the pt![]()
