Yes, it would be good for a VIT build on Rampart, but losing TP isn't really worth it for the 14 extra dmg on stoneskin. I'd rather save TP for Chivalry or spam Spirits Within

VIT should be the least of his concerns. I could be like lolVIT because while it's ok to not go all out on VIT saccing his defense for that turban when he's not subbing NIN is just him asking to get his nuts kicked in. Either an assjammer or Koeing Head...fuck even Gallent Coronet and dare I say lolValor Coronet is better then Turban when subbing WAR & just owns the shit out of a Turban for keeping himself alive. As far as Durandal goes it's just an extension of the example I already posted.

My pld is 70 and I have 3 Swords but only really use two. Joyuse for fast TP gain, lolHrotti & a Mach+1 when I have to actually work at keeping hate. Lucky is a nice guy but he really should focus on either a Joyuese or a Mach+1 instead of a Durandal. He wasn't online at all so I hadn't had a chance to talk to him but from what I remember of him as a WHM he was pretty awesome.

You have to take in mind that being a taru his HP isn't all that and a bag of chips but he can afford to pump up his defense a lot better then using that Turban. I'm not saying turban isn't all bad but he's got way better options for headgear then using that thing.

Nera's got a point tho. Why the heck would you want to make yourself an mp sink to a mage when you can help prevent that?

That's not epic fail. Confused maybe, epic fail, no. It's a bit heavy on elemental skill for Dynamis, unless you're gathered in front of that tower in BCD to kill an attestation NM. Then it may be warranted. There's also a couple pieces there that can be improved, like replacing the AF2 legs/feet with Jets/Mahatma/Errant and Yigit feet, and the Sapient Cape with Rainbow/Prism.

It looks more to me like a new-to-75 BLM that's in the process of gathering a better set of gear, than anything even close to "epic fail".

As far as I know, that's her only 75. Additionaly, we didn't go for anything other than a megaboss kill (which sucks, because all that dropped was one Koga Chainmail and a couple 100s). Hell, I really only use my Black Mage for meriting (hard to get parties with White Mage/Usualy those parties suck hard) and this is my gear:

i know i'm alone on it, but honestly, i like my af2+1 shoes. the relevant stats on yigit shoes for offensive casting (dump the mnd, eva, etc.) are 3 int and 2 MAB. on sorcerer's sabots+1, there are 18 mp, 3 int, -2 enmity, and 5 conserve MP. difference between the shoes is 2 MAB for yigit shoes vs 18 mp, -2 enmity, and 5 conserve MP. now tally MAB traits/gear on my blm 75. 32 base, 8 neck (assuming pendant active,) 7 novio, 5 moldavite, 6 weskit, and 5 z mitts for a total of 163 MAB. more if you tack on the sorc ring, but that's far too situational IMO to count for a more general calculation. 165/163= a 1.2% gain on damage from yigit shoes.

if you figure that on average, you tend to save about 1.4% of MP consumed with +5 conserve MP, the effects come out to fairly close to a wash, ignoring the extra MP and -enmity. also, on other spells, such as sleepga, stun, cure, etc. you stand to save a hair more, where the MAB would do nothing. this doesn't preclude you from swapping the shoes in just for those spells, however.

i honestly think it's more of a personal preference decision over having a cut and dry winner, though as always, shit's situational. if i'm trying to burn something down as fast as humanly possible (nuking DL or something) af2+1 can sod off, i'm going for the very most i can eek out of a nuke, especially since most of the nukes will be under manafont anyway. if i'm going for an endurance situation where i have very limited chances to sit and rest, on the other hand (dynamis is a good example b/c the alliance is constantly moving) conserve MP is usually my choice. also, remember, if a mob has 500 HP and your nuke would hit for 1k, stack all the MAB you like, it won't do diddly squat. conserve MP still works though.

af2 pants are kinda lose, IMO, though. i bring them along for the off chance it's thundersday and i'm paying attention, but when you consider they're off about 75% of the time (light and dark days they do literally nothing, earth, water, wind, and fire days they have limited usage as most players have thunder/ice merits) i would personally lose those for a pair of mahatma.
sapient cape is an unusual choice, but definitely not WRONG. perhaps not what i'd choose, but not flat out wrong.
elite has its uses, but a merited blm shouldn't need the crutch of an elite to hit most dyna mobs. same thing for the ring and the torque.
earring is, imo, a fine choice for dynamis if one does not own a novio. phantom+1 offers 2 int and 10 MP. static is 5 conserve MP and 20 MP. based on my math above i can almost guarantee that against a phantom+1, with that earring he's going to kick out more damage per MP spent with that earring. in addition, more conserve MP means he has to rest less and is more capable of moving when the mobs are dead rather than being stuck resting MP. since i have to assist for blm in dyna, i find my chances to rest are very limited, and conserve MP over the course of an entire dynamis will provide a noticeable impact on my performance.

bottom line is this player is perhaps in the slightly gimp category, but is not making too many egregious mistakes. he just needs to a) lose the pants for something that will turn out better damage, and b) have the confidence that his nukes will hit and lose some of the ele gear.
remember also that a blm's gear represents a very small portion of a blm's ability to perform. give me a choice between a naked blm who knows when to stun and sleep or a blm armed to the teeth who only knows how to nuke b/c he lvled to 75 on manaburns alone. i'll take the former every time.
