    Low funds

Ok so I finally got 100 bonecraft and would like to try for hq's but I can't find a way to make decent money. Demon helms were at 400k when i hit 100 but when i finally hq'd 2 undercutters put the price around 200k and they sell really slow.

Any advice would help, even if its just to keep saving up gil with small synths.

    Unlikely to get any help.

I think the line I always hear is "if you got a craft to 100 and don't know how to make money then you fail".

Sounds a bit mean though, perhaps you'll get lucky and someone will pm you.

How did you get the money to fund your craft?

I farmed to fund mind and the farmin didn't stop after I hit 100.

imho, Bonecraft's capital-building synths are pretty weak. For all the 31+ stuff that you can reliably HQ and not gamble on to try to build up your nest egg, the profits aren't too impressive, though if you have your subcrafts leveled appropriately there are a few options which can help you along.

I think bonecraft doesn't really start to shine until you already have a fat nest egg to invest.

Bonecraft has some profit in it still. The problem is that a lot of stuff sells relatively slowly.

The main problem with bonecraft is that there are a LOT of 100's. Basically as a side effect of coral fragments being so cheap for so long, the overall cost of getting bonecraft to 100 was very low relative to other durable crafts.

I've had 100+3 bone (and everything else 60 or 60+1) on my main for a long time, but only fall back to it occasionally now.

If it makes you feel any better about it, it looks like almost all crafts aren't providing the 'promised riches' that everyone was expecting when they started leveling them.

questions like this are pretty legitimate nowadays, considering the decline of the economy. I can easily say that when i was in mid 80's smithing i was making tons more money then i am now, then i was making a good 2-3 mil a week, and this was while skilling and finishing up subs (fuck you GS sub). now those synths aren't worth touching with a 10 foot fire crystal, and sales of decent items are few and far between

Are you a bonecrafter? Those things are pretty annoying to make once you hit 100 because you have four chances to fail essentially:

    - once from the vivified coral
    - once if you break the coral hairpin
    - once if you HQ the coral hairpin (most annoying for the Lv100 crafters)
    - once when you create the reraise hairpin itself

It's still pretty good gil sometimes but it just got too annoying for me to continue messing with it. I used to make them a lot more when I was lower level but they aren't worth the hassle to me now.

If you leveled your craft on the gil from farming, farm.

Sounds mean but if that gets you capital then do it. Bonecraft outside of nailing a lucky hq is not great for building starter capital. Once you are established you can mess around with a lot more synths.

rr pins can also suck if your market is dominated by rmt. it's like the sole sushi of bonecrafting: they'll undercut you till it's a loss just to drive you out. they fish the coral anyway so they still make some money.

Reraise Hairpins are 33k profit per synth on Diabolos. Three synths and you've just made 100k. Spend two hours synthing and you can buy your SH+1.

I hope this works out the way it was planned.

The problem with RR hairpins at 100 is there's a terrable loss rate.

At level 100 you're about 20% likely to loose at least one coral fragment. Weither it be from HQing the coral hairpin, or breaking one of the synths.

Last time I calculated it out on my server, you could only break even if someone handed you the animas and pearls.

That and people can and will undercut you just to get rid of you.

Cornette +1 are easy to HQ the snot out of and they sell well especially if you get the HQ2.

figured I would get a lot of "duh rr pins". I'm pretty much out of animas and was looking for something else to try before spending 500k to buy more stacks.

I had three mules making ore to make my money for bonecraft. Its not expensive at all to level and once i could make rr pins I used those to fund synthing. I'm just lazy and didn't really want to save up 33k a rr pin sale towards mass synthing stuff for hq.

Should have known better then to make this post but I guess I like punishment.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Edit: btw if you check how much coral hairpins and vivified coral cost to make you get 52k cost to make and they are selling at 70k atm. Hq one into a merman hairpin and you just lost 20k
