you need to go into more detail.

when you say putting music into your itunes library, where are you moving them from?

Pretty sure you can solve your problem by selecting the song itself, then right-clicking, then select "add to playlist". Shouldn't have to toggle the File function, at least I don't think so.

I'm trying to get them to import into my music library on itunes from my D: drive. I've tried moving them to my C: drives my music folder but it doesn't make a difference and I don't think I can make a playlist if they arent in my music Library... I notice now some songs will import however most will not! they are all .mp3 files as well with valid tags. If you need anymore info please tell me.

Keep in mind I have a mac...

When I put new songs in iTunes after torrenting, etc I simply drag the folder/files onto the iTunes icon. Maybe the PC version is more complicated than that?

    oh wow, interesting.

For my itunes I remember having the songs on my desktop, then selecting them all and dragging them all into the library. From there it began copying them into whatever file format itunes uses for their songs.

I don't remember what file format I downloaded them originally as, I think it was.mp3 not sure.

Thats odd, I have no problems at all using the method you mentioned earlier.

Has Itunes co-operated for you in the past or is this your first time using it?

You don't have some old windows 98 or something silly do you>?

well maybe they get in itunes but the songs dont have a predeterminated album happens alot when you get music from internet you could search the music by selecting "all albums all autors all music" and search the song you added mostly if the song only haves name it wont categorize it.

hmm I don't think it's a lack of a predetermined album, I've downloaded lots of trance songs which haven't come from a marketed album and they've been fine.

Does iTunes have the search for media on your desktop button or something of that nature?

When I install any new program such as Limewire/Kazaa it would ask if you would like the program to search your PC for content

I don't have an iPod or use iTunes, so I'm not gonna be that useful to you, but if the search stuff doesnt work, just torrent a pro version (I have no clue if there is a pro version or iTunes = free)

Just for the sake of asking an obvious question, but you are looking for the songs in the very top list, I think its labeled music but honestly I forget? Just making sure you weren't searching a playlist for them.

I does ask to import and i tell it to and it only picks up about 5 of my 20 something albums for some reason. When I try to import the rest it doesnt work.

Yes I am looking in the top option labled "Music" under "Library"

Are you using the newest version? Have you tried reinstalling? Does the apple web site have any kind of software support?

It's possible that (the xml file in) your library is corrupted. Hold the shift key while starting iTunes, and create a new library. Try importing the music to your new library. If it works, and you don't have anything of interest in the other library, just delete the other one.
