YES please! It is very annoying to get people who are willing to do salvage these days and I think it would be much easier if they had a choice of fee to enter salvage. It would be kinda nice if you could enter limbus this way by spending CP (could be another way to give players incentive to leave ToA areas.

Also for salvage it would be nice to see a slight increase of drop rate of armor from normal mobs. Right now if you don't make it to the boss and kill the boss you are lucky to see one armor piece drop which is rediculous when you take in 12-18 people and each one had to pay their own fee to enter. I don't think it should be a huge increase but it would be nice if a normal farming run could net around 3-4 armor pieces without having to kill the boss.
It would not really make the completed armor any less rare because you would need to get all 3 pieces to upgrade but it would give people a better feeling of accomplishing something when they go into salvage than just having useless cells left over they have to throw away. Or maybe create some sort of system where you can have a time penalty or some other penalty and be allowed to save cells or purchase cells for future runs.
Salvage could have a run-to-run reward similar to dynamis currency or ancient beastcoins in limbus so that everyone attending gets some small reward.

Well, think about it this way, getting the right drops is like getting a Ridill or E. Body, not common but it will happen. I mean, how many Fafnir's do you kill that just have N. Legs when you don't need them? The way you go about getting the gear is different, but the appearance rate of the gear (completing an item) is probably on par with Kings.
Wouldn't it be nice if more things to get good items required more skill/effort and less luck/time?

Example of how good items should be: shadow mantle, and Kirin's osode (back when it was a big deal to kill kirin)

    Bad example: Any land-king drop

P.S. Yes, I know some ls have dynamis lord on "farm status". There's still some measure of luck involved which still makes it fun and challenging. Getting gear shouldn't be like 80-90% luck, is what I mean.

A handful of things that require mostly luck is ok, this is just a "change of pace" kind of thing. However, that luck coming from having to outclaim 5 other linkshells is poor design.

So in other words, you want to take out the biggest stabilizing gilsink in the game. No thanks. Heck, if it bothers you that much, eventually the costs may result in people *gasp* using the starting city AH'es more. Which years ago, they actually did! Used to be, people would hit San d'Oria/Windurst/Bastok and check for items priced a bit lower, since the lower AH fees meant you marked it up less to make a profit and the lower overall prices encouraged people to buy your item faster. Coincidentally, this also meant people spent time in places other than Jeuno shopping- and clogging the system.

A little decentralization now might do us some good.

I don't know if you are following the progress of a lot of Salvage groups but it is appearing to be more about skill/effort in learning how to farm proper gear in limited time and spawn NM's and the bosses and less about random luck now. Think of Salvage as more like Dynamis when it was first introduced, but people are more cynical about things now and they expect to farm things without the exploration part. Luckily a bunch of people are doing the exploration and the complex pattern of Salvage is becoming much more clear. Yes, the drops are very random, but it is not without pattern, which is able to be replicated.

That being said, Salvage, Assault and Nyzul should not be a forced trade off.

So if they release a windower for FFXI, will they start banning people for using another windower? That would suck especially if the windower they give us sucks.

Add a warp from hometown to Whitegate and my HP would go back to San d'Oria where checking my inbox isn't a preposterous and baffling ordeal.
The big problem is that a two-zones-to-HP area got cut down to one shortly after the expansion. Putting a second zone with HP's available in Al Zahbi would amend the problem- perhaps an underground area, since Al Zahbi has tunnels to various points on the map as-is (to Wajoam and Bhalfau). I always wondered where they managed to tuck all those Mog Houses in, anyway...
    Proposal:

Make a third zone in Al Zahbi: the Imperial District. Add a home point crystal. Add a mog house entrance. Add an Auction House. Also include national embassies similar to those that exist in the other nations. However, after performing some quest or menial task (similar to a supplies quest for outpost warp), you can then port directly from your home nation's teleport to that embassy in AZ for a menial cost. This allows people to set their HP in their home nation (reducing lag) and also distributes everyone into three zones instead of two (also reducing lag).

If you want to make it exclusive or whanot due to it's Imperial nature, add a requirement you have to be a certain rank of Mercenary or you have to be at a certain point in the AU missions. That would also explain why it hasn't been available up until now.

What server were you on? No one ever used the city AHs for gear beyond level 20 except to sell to themselves....
The only use for city AHs was crystals and crafting mats for that nations guilds.....

Food and stuff too ..but thats about it..

People certainly DO NOT sell endgame gear in cities ever unless you got some weird ass server

The gil sink from the AH fees is hitting the real player not the RMT and shit.....who have Bazaars named jlkjadgjlj going on my server all the time with expensive gear not to mention their incessant shouts....

100k a week from limbus is more than enough gil out of system per player assuming everyone does limbus.....

    ------------

I never understood why no outpost from home nation to Aht Urghan..sucks when you accidentally HP in Windy...and have to go all back there via the ship cause you were too lazy to get the ring yet <.<

Honestly I always have preferred being HP in home nation but Aht Urghan forced me to change obviousy..
Biggest annoyance is the lag + d box lag is the worst

Looking at SE's perspective on the Whitegate issue, it makes sense for them to want to have players idle in Whitegate and not a town/Jeuno for the simple reason that players can just zone in to Beseiged if one happens to start. There are some players that are somewhat hardcore about participating in Beseiged, but there are so many others that wouldn't go out of their way to make it to one if it was not 1 zone away.

Taking that in to consideration they would really have to make more than 1 simple change to clean up Whitegate without effecting other content they've created IMO. The last thing Mr. Developer wants to do is go in to his monthly meeting having to explain why participation on a "major feature" of the latest expansion is at an all time low. To Byrd's point, a 3rd district makes sense.

Back to the topic, while asking for information on a new expansion is important, there's typically a boxed set of questions for such a topic and I'd imagine they've been asked for every expansion to date. Now, if SE gave a real answer to the "AV question", the rest of the interview and all other interviews simply would fade away in to the background.

I hope you're correct about salvage drops. The fact that you're comparing time to get an item from salvage to the time it takes to get a land-king item (the activity I cited as being poorly designed) makes me nervous though.

< plays on ps2 and my macro never fails even in besieged 700+ ppl lag so uhhh.........lag is lag, deal with it
woould totally own if they increased how many lines you could have
and just STFU now if you are going to say ps2 limitations because the ps2 should of fucking imploded in 2005 or everytime theres a new 1k+ file update if this was really the case
They used it as an excuse in an interview once? about mog safe expansions, which is kinda true since ps2 does have some problems displaying a shit load of things at once. It could do it though, slowly. and by slowly i mean an extra 5-10seconds

Why should we STFU about a PS2 limiting the way we play a PC game?

Everyone who says they do not get macro lag on PS2 or Computer.....must be crazy or have a PS4 posing as a PS2....

or it could be that I just have shitty macros? LOL
Then again how many possible ways are there to make an equipment change macro....

Do you guys ever check to make sure your gear actually changed?...

My macros work but not every piece of gear changes in lag...sometimes only first 3-4 lines will change and last 2 wont....

PS2 limitations is a joke often used as to why they don't change stuff

I don't think people are really expecting lag to change in Besieged, and I don't think that's what people are requesting fixed. It's the lag in Whitegate and, to a lesser extent, non-Besieged Al Zahbi. When it takes 3 min to zone to a mog house or check your delivery box, something is wrong. We understand the problem is not with the hardware but with the number of people in the zone. We're trying to suggest ways the developers can encourage people to not be in Whitegate to reduce lag, because telling them to upgrade their computers is more obvious but less likely to actually have happen.

Well, that depends on your personal cost-benefit analysis. I am just saying there is a method to the madness of Salvage. If it is for you, is for you to decide.

Jobs that are heavily macro and gear dependant suffer the most. Beastmaster and Thief are 2 jobs I know of that can change almost every single slot of theirs per ability. Example from Charm to Attack gear on BST, from TP to Racc to SA/TA gear on THF.

^ Considering they're going to release official windower soon, I'd really like macro lines increased otherwise really who's going to want to use it aside from allakatards? My big macros are a big reason why I won't be using official windower unless they can give me those too.
Just to add to this, there's also only 10 macro sets and there's 18 jobs, and some jobs would be nice to have multiple macro sets. I would like 20-30 macro sets with 15-20 lines each. That would allow for proper equip swaps and spellcasting/delay functions in a macro. If they can't do it on ps2, then leave it the way it is on ps2 and fix pc/xbox. The servers send out different update files to each system, there is no reason they can't fix pc/xbox and just say that this update won't be avail for ps2. xbox has larger default draw distance than pc/ps2, they nave no reason to not add special features for having pc.

They don't need to disable the support of ps2, but that shouldn't limit them from giving other systems a bit of an increase in macro space.

How the fuck do you get me being a nazi by equating it to lag in whitegate? I swear your train of thought goes from moron to spasmotard.

That's ok if you're happy playing on PS2, but that's not what this topic is about it. It's about problems we'd want SE to fix, like we've done in the past and they've responded with. Clearly stfu unless you have a realistic point to bring into this argument, aside from calling me a nazi because I do not enjoy lag with my entering of moghouse.

It is possible that ps2 could be limited to 6 lines per macro, so the system doesn't puke all over itself, and other systems can use more (I still don't get how 6 lines per macro is a problem for a ps2. Is it ok technically, but they're too lazy to implement a scroll bar so players with low resolutions can see past the 6th line?)

And one could invert your argument: "Why should the game be unnecessarily limited for PC/XBox players just because SE can't figure out how to not crash a ps2?"

I'll explain it. Even when killing the Arrapago chariot, you can very easily kill a couple of Qiqirns on the way up, since they take 1-2 minutes. In fact you'll probably want to just for some extra cells and to try to steal from them. And those same Qiqirns give you a chance at lvl35 drops. Since you get a shot at lvl35 drops on your way to the chariot, they probably didn't think it fair to give two lvl25 drops.

People overemphasize chariot drops, yes it could take a few kills to get the lvl25 item you want, but it's not like they'll be dropping nothing ever. (unless you DoT kill them unclaimed -_-; ) It's the bad drop rate on the lvl35 pieces that are going to limit upgrading speed the most. For the quality on some of the pieces, the effort to get them are certainly worth it. And this before people have even gotten a complete set and found the set bonus strengths.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but if they choose to make a windower, they really need to update the macro system, people sometimes have 3-4 macros just to cast a spell... Windower macros make it easy, however PS2 would be sad.
