You could never enter Gilgamesh's office (besides just a CS, as in you can walk around the place) in just Zilart until CoP came out? So that could allow the chance of entering the Imperial Ward at some point
So much failed potential... had they added the same bonus sanction did minus the regen/fresh/food duration and tacked on eva/def bonuses as the pluses to using signet over sanction we'd have the problem of overcrowding in endgame exp areas 50% solved.Originally Posted by Khamsin
On a more fantasy-esque note(may or may not sound zammish. lol): Make places more enticing for certain jobs that choose to exp there~ much like manaburns/axeburns can make huge amounts of exp per hour, toss in little bonuses to specific zones to spread out the populace a bit more like a 10% bonus to exp when using say... any type of mechanical device on Newton Moval exp monsters. (lolguns+pups come to mind), or a 10% bonus to exp when using a skillchain on qutrubs in the dvucca mire. (lolskillchains) This would be on monsters conning T-IT only, making it viable for parties that choose to take advantage. Ways to make great axes and the more abandoned weapons enticing would help as well~
Much like i imagined SE envisioned weather effects on magic... but like always, it seems they always think stuff out 75% of the way. leaving the important 25% out~
It'd go a long way for appeasing the people that like to just smash shit, and people that dont like falling asleep after hour 4 of mr. greater colibri dying to a rampage. Options are always nice, especially ones that arent just ToA onry.
There are actually some decent camps in Movopolis. The problem is that the moblins and bugbears have annoying TP moves and respawn slowly. Namely frypan and flying hip press.
Yeah, I was in there last night and those moves are annoying even when you're farming. Also, I think the highest-level moblins max at 80, whereas mamool ja and colibri hit 82-83, so they'd be comparatively slow XP at 75. And the repops are slow, as you mentioned.Originally Posted by Tordall
Plus, in some areas that could be decent easily-accessible mid-level camps (Mine Shaft exit, close to Premium Bag NM pop), one or two of the lvl78-80 moblins (scalpelman) are mixed in with the 66-69 ones - all it would take to wipe would be one link.
It's kind of a shame - the zone is really atmospheric and if the conditions were just a bit better it could make for kind of a fun spot.
These ideas are all good. Especially the XP bonus to themes, which I think should be maybe 20% or so, but still solid.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos

Ask them to implement a feature where Sack/shellholders of a Linkshell can place a Linkshell in "Moderated" mode (Very similar to IRC.) When a Linkshell is in moderated mode, only Sackholders and Shellholders can talk. Oh, and ask them to make Quartermaster not suck. The QM should be able to assign who gets what items, not receive everything. Thxu! :3

I'd like to ask you: What do you recommend, trash our PS2's and HDD's and Network adaptors and otherwise useless copies of PS2 based FFXI so we can fully transfer over to PC?
Some of us chose PS2 because we actually prefer console games, and at the time PS2 was more than adequate to run -this- game. I'd rather veg in my chair with a few beers and a bowl of shepherds pie than sit at my computer desk in a gd office chair. I play to relax, as I'm sure a large percentage of PS2 players are going to tell you, and the idea of having to transfer over just because SE outgrew themselves is ridiculous.
That's not to say I'm resistant to change: I'm an avid Xbox hater and don't see the necessity in buying both an Xbox and a PS3; Either port the game over to PS3 and let us install it from our PS2 discs, or stop whining about PS2 users and let us bask in our low res quality.
If you're having a hard time wrapping your head around why it pisses us PS2 users off so much, consider this: Imagine if, when the game first came out, you spent a pretty penny upgrading your PC/Laptop to run FFXI, or even going so far as to buy a complete new system. Then, a couple years into it, you realize there's better versions out there, but upgrading means spending even more money on it, specifically for the purpose of playing a video game.
Now imagine one day SE comes a long and says, "Sorry guys, that video card you're using isnt supported by us anymore." or: "Sorry guys, Playonline isn't Windows compatible anymore, Linux onry prz".
You see what I'm getting at here? I can deal with advancements in technology; we would be a stagnant nation indeed if we didn't move forward. But expecting us to abandon an entire system from which we derived our entire gaming experience from for the last 4 years or so us ridiculous.
Want me to upgrade to PS3? Ok, but give me a reason to. I don't want 2 console systems taking up space on my entertainment center just because one of them won't load a game I spend a large amount of time on.
I don't really care for big system graphical updates... I just want textures in San d'Oria to look as nice as they do in Aht Urhgan. Texture update of older areas would be nice.
I mean, it's obvious Halvung/Zhayolm is like Ifrit's Cauldron+1 and Periqia(I might be naming the wrong one here) is like Ordelle's Caves+1.
Make those ghosts in Gusgen Mines look less hideous.
I realy don't understand PS2 users bitching about a graphic update for PC/lolBox/PS3 O_o.
Your game would still be the same as it is now, you wouldnt get any negativ effects or be left behind in major updates (new contend/equip/abilitys/whatever).
It would just mean that ppl who spend a huge amount of money to buy a new better PC get to actualy use it to the full potential. If you cant live withouth beeing up-to-date and having the best posible craphic, then buy a PC.
If SE would bring a NES version of FFXI, would you be happy to play on 2D mode on your PS2?
All this bitching about "NO he shouldnt get *blahblah* because i cant get it, so nobody should get it!" is just stupid... thats like 12 year olds think.
^ wut
No one said that. Shirizaan was talking about system compatibility with an always changing game, and how PS2 is vastly outdated with the direction SE wants to take it, and I responded with a more sentimental response as to why we hold on to our PS2's.
I'm not bitching about a graphics update. I could give two shits about it. All I'm trying to say is, why hype up certain aspects of a pretty decent console (lolHDD) when you had no intention of keeping it around?
Leujoam Sanctum is the one you're thinking of BRP. I probably didn't spell that right but >(
tbh i rather see them fixing the actual problems of the game than seeing a graphical update. Graphics is nice and all but I rather see that time spent on better content/end game activities than "hey its a orange crab"
I didn't see anyone saying SE should stop to support PS2, just many want that PC user finaly get a PC version of the game and not just the emulated/transfered crap from PS2>PC.
Stopping PS2 support would kill a huge part of the playerbase and would just be silly for SE as a company (all about the money). But giving ppl who buy a xbox360 and expect some new better games an old PS2 game is just as stupid too.
And meh about the end-game card... everytime a topic pops up about posible improvements or changes someone comes in and say "this is stupid they should work on end-game".
There are enough topics about the end-game discussions and even tho many things there needs to be changed it would still be nice to get something else too. Why shouldnt they work on both at the same time.
but orange crabs would be awesome...
nah but really i thinkpeople would be less reluctant buy another version of ffxi if it still had the same issues as it does now
Players quit @ the lack of content or get sick of cockblockers using bots to claim stuff or they get aggravated by the RMT. I believe the dev crew is much smaller @ SE these days than it used to be hence why the chocobo racing was late and still no colosseum that is a few months behind. A graphical update would probably take a-long-time to implement.Originally Posted by crazyrabbit
