Also if you learn the language, you'll look for places to use it. You'll even go out of your way to find a use for it. A fitting analogy.Originally Posted by Judai
My 2 cents is: If you're a 2005 BLM who has Thunder Potency merited, Burst 2 saves you time and effort by fitting snugly into your old merits..
If you're just now working on BLM merits, Remember that the only one of these that is any more accurate than any other is Freeze [because of 4 int and 10 elemental on the staff].
I'd say find what works for your team. 3x Freeze for Distortion/Darkness, and 3x Tornado? or Flare? or maybe Quake, for example: They're all equal. Put 5 Earth Potency Merits down and you will do as much damage with Quake II as the BLM with Burst II.
And while youre waiting for the long recast to come up you can do gimpy thunder4 nukes cause you have lolstone merits.Originally Posted by cassiraa

I definitely see your point, which is why I said it was an example, but I wouldn't fault someone for getting Ice Potency and Wind Potency, using Tornado II because that's what their LS likes to use best to set up, Likewise with Flood II.
It's closer to a personal preference because the tier 2 AM themselves are on equal standing.
[except for Freeze II, which because of the staff properties will always be just a little edge above Burst II, potency merits notwithstanding]
Your primary nukes outside of AM2 are going to be thunder/blizzard. Given that there's no inherent advantage on any of the AM2s, and that you will not use exclusively AM2s, this suggests you should merit thunder and ice potency unless you have a damn good reason to go with another element.
