I just got my SMN Bracers last night ^_^
and like I said before my ENTIRE SERVER is very heavy on WARs, me meriting WAR would be completely useless as I would never get to use the job outside of Salvage/Dynamis/Merit pts anyway.

Wha? I didn't realize those were inappropriate areas to have merits.Originally Posted by Halcyon
It would be rather strange if magic merits do something for BPs, but physical ones don't. I couldn't say I saw any difference in melee damage with physical ones either.Originally Posted by Shiroken

Let me try this again, in simpler terms:
Because my Linkshell is very heavy on WAR jobs, the opportunity to actually USE my WAR job is extremely minimal. Most of my 'End Game' activities require the use of my SMN job, Hence my Question regarding SMN merits.
It's a simple cost-benefit analysis.
The cost of meriting WAR outstrips the benefits because I rarely get to use WAR anyway, outside of the few instances that I've already mentioned. Savvy?
I'm not going to spend hours meriting WAR....just so I can be more efficient in...grinding out more merits. That's a pointless loop of boredom.
I'd like to do other things other than meriting. Being relatively new to the 'End Game' scene and having an extremely mediocre WAR job isn't going to help.
As previously stated (for the 3rd Time), WE HAVE TOO MANY WARS AND NOT ENOUGH MAGES. HENCE, I SPEND MOST OF MY TIME ON MY MAGE JOB AND NOT MY WAR JOB. SMN BEING THE PRIORITY FOR RELATIVELY LOW-RESISTED, HATE-FREE DAMAGE AND SUPPORT.
Now, I don't know if I can make it any simpler than that without using diagrams. =/
So save yourself even more time and don't waste hours meriting SMN.![]()
The point to meriting SMN is so I can be more efficient/useful on that job since it's the job I'll be spending the most time on....Originally Posted by evilpaul

I don't know what your LS does but Tiamat, Jorm, Vrtra, Jailer of Temperance, Kirin, Khimaira, Cerberus and sometimes Proto-Ultima are my chances of going as SMN over BLM. But yeh LV75 BPs fail, I merited Heavenly Strike as soon as the new merits were released to test it and left it at that. I will just merit all of them when I have nothing better to spend merits on.Originally Posted by Faranim
It wouldnt suprise me if it turned out to do nothing. I notice no difrences between myself and a full pysical merited smn Now if htey had avatar crit rate or something...Originally Posted by evilpaul
It wouldnt be outside of something SE would do.. I mean look how pointless smn skill was up untill a little while ago
Then you'd be an idiot.Originally Posted by Shiroken
The reason why you don't see a clear difference is because physical attacks have a certain range of random damage. The physical attack merits isn't a difference-maker on the level of Berserk, of course the results are going to be fairly minimal. The effects of merits are more noticeable on magical Bloodpacts because magical attacks are fairly static in terms of dealing damage. For instance, one merit in magical attack and you'll see Nether Blast's effectiveness rise right off the bat.
The merits definitely effect physical Bloodpacts.
