I was being generous, considering I remember several episodes that were absolutely unfunny. Lucky Star 1 is seriously the worst episode of anime I have ever seen, and I watched Musashi Gundoh.

Grave of the Fireflies is funnier than most Lucky Star episodes.

Yeah Lucky star is the worst anime and your view is totally not biased. Are you the same kind of person who would call FF7 the worst game ever? Or maybe FF8 is for you? The only argument you have against LS is that you don't find it funny, yet, I'm not even sure you could tell me what kind of joke you like to see in anime. Lot of people, myself include, laugh/smile at many scenes...but it's probably because we are all stupid, immature and have loli fetishes, am I right?

Yes, I enjoy the small talk/casual conversation they have in LS. The characters all represent a cliché of every day life, and many scenes make me nostalgic about stuff I've seen happen irl. The minesweepers discussion for example has no punchline, but I've seen people at work and school do it. Or when Konata talk about real life like a game...something I do all the time with friends. Anime/culture parody are hard to catch at time, but it's usually funny when you do. One of my favorite is kanon's reference in ep3 or 4. I watched that LS episode the same day I finished watching Kanon...thought it was sweet. Rest of the episode usually range from weak punchline to decent punchline. Some make me laugh, other are just too weak... but there is always enough good one every episode to make it worth the 20minutes it takes to watch the show.


First half of the first episode was horrible, no doubt about it. Rest of the episode had some ok moment (fighting scene, homework stealing and lucky chanel). That's 3 scenes I probably won't forget anytime soon... more than most generic anime out there.

Like I said, Lucky Star isn't my favorite anime, and far from being the first I would recommand, but it's still enjoyable. There is a ton of anime out there that follow the same story pattern, with generic character design, style and humour...LS at least try something different.

The only people who can stand this show are people who thought Haaroohee was the best anime ever. None of this has anything to do with the actual quality of the animation and humor, which is scraping the bottom of the barrel. You see this shit happening all the time in real life? If your life so funny, what the fuck do you need to watch this show for? All anyone who likes this show can seemingly argue is that boring shit, when done by moeblobs, suddenly becomes funny shit.


I'm not going to deny that there's a lot of those people, but they're generally the anime fans I like to ignore and pretend don't exist, which is hard when good shows suffer.

That's what I was implying when I asked him "what kind of jokes do you like to see in anime?". Not everyone have the same sense of humor, and bashing something because your taste is different is retarded. Need to be a little more...objective if you want to criticize something.

Anyway, it's just a trap question, because no matter what he answers, there is a good chance I can find an equivalant in LS. He probably just hate the show because 4chan or something forced him to take a side. Hard to enjoy an anime like this one when you want to hate it.

1) I have no clue who the hell is Aya Hirano.
2) I never watched Harumi after the first 2 episode because the dancing ED and bouncing boobies in the intro were pissing me off. I was going to do the same with this one, but I ended up watching it anyway after a friend asked me to.

I would enjoy LS the same if it was made by different people, if there was no dancing OP or popular VA. It's true the intro act as a viral marketing, but people wouldnt watch it if they didn't enjoy the content.

The quick humor, or overzealous character common in other anime also make it great. There isn't as many of it, but there is still enough to change the pace once in a while.

I know who animated Haruhi because one of my first things reading about it was how "awesome a job Kyoto Animation did" with an episode, and it's shown clearly in each episode that Kyoto did it. I know who animated Lucky Star because of the thread that let me know about Lucky Star stated it was Kyoto (oh hey, that's THIS thread!)

I have no clue who has animated the others anime I've watched, including: Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Trigun, Elfen Lied, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note and more. And I'm a bigger fan at least half those animes than I am of Lucky Star...

Lucky star has an unique feels to it because of the animation. If Gonzo butchered it, then yes, it would lose a part of its charm. Pretty sure I would still enjoy the show if the content is the same tho. In the hypothetical situation gonzo was changing everything...than no, I can't say if I would like it or not, it wouldnt be the same anime.

Obviously, there is many types, but most of them base their story and jokes on real life situation, on something people can relate to: works, sex, family, daily life, politics, computer, etc. Lucky star is no different than those, except it relate to the gamer/anime fan things. To see in anime format those little thing that bug me, that make me smiles, that piss me off in real life is what make those scenes enjoyable. Why? Because that's how it works. There is other type of humor (ie: absurd joke, sudden/unexpected event) that are often used in comedy, but that's not what LS is about.

I've watched haruhi, I'm watching lucky star, I have a few different anime on my HD. After I found anitube I kinda got in the habit of checking out random anime I've never seen before and ended up finding a few I really liked. I still don't know who's making any of them, anymore than I know what studios produced most of the movies I like or made the games I play.

It could be that I'm somehow the exception and am the only person who doesn't even pay attention to that, but I doubt it. It looks to me like it's the other way around

So, seeing your friends doing this... it isn't funny. But once a stock otaku-moeblob character does it, it's the funniest shit ever.

Stand-up comics try to make you look at things in a different way, use hyperbole, exaggeration, or plain make things up.

Lucky Star... doesn't. It's just moeblobs doing everyday things. If a comic got on stage and told this joke:

He'd be booed off the fucking stage.
