LS has everyday life in the perspective of people who are very everyday people. So everything seems normal. Sure, you get maybe one laugh and a few smiles per show, but is that a good thing? I mean, for a comedy show to only laugh once is pathetic. I laughed more watching Kanon 2006, the first 3 episodes made me laugh more than 8 episodes of LS have (not including LC, cause that's awesome).

I can't agree with that. Lucky Star character are not "normal" people, they are huge cliché/stereotype, and that's what make them different. What hurt the character the most imo is the lack of story behind those character...if you don't like them early, your opinion probably won't change because the setting never evolve after the first episode.

I personally prefer LS over Azumanga daioh, but it's probably just taste here. I thought both were similar in many way, and they will usually get me the same kind of laugh/smile.

As for Kanon, I really enjoyed the show, but I can't say it made me laugh. Many scenes did make me smiles because they were cute, but that's not the same. That said, the "special jams" scene were awesome, it's the only funny moment I remember in that anime.

Saying the homework stealing scenes is not funny show how much you hate it for the wrong reason. Takes any fucking anime you like, and you will get scene like that. I watched the show you told me that were "funnier", and none of the joke are well thought like you seem to believe. Yes, some scene made me smile, but they are not "better" or "worse" joke.

There is ~20x 1minute scenes, and I want to hear from an expert like you why they are not funny. After that, I will watch any anime you want and we will compare the humor/scene that make you laugh.

You are not "arguing" Priran, you are simply bringing your biased opinion about Lucky Star over and over instead of trying to bring any statement to support your conclusion. You won't demonstrate anything saying "it sucks" or "it's stupid" over and over...there is no way you can come to a logical conclusion that Lucky Star is shitty using such method. I don't care if you don't like Lucky Star, but calling it the "worst anime ever" is a statement that require some backup.


I still disagree with Elcura premises, but at least the guy is making valid point and put more thought behind his argument than you did in 10 posts.

Well, defining normal is hard, but really... these characters aren't exactly interesting with exception to the otaku, and are fairly normal and commonplace even if they are cliche, but they're cliche in the most lackluster manner. None of the characters really jump out at me with exception of konata. And the lack of background story behind the characters doesn't really hurt it, because i have the feeling it'd be pretty standard stuff. Anything else would develop the character and make them interesting.

I did say both are similar, but you're right, it is a taste thing, also, Azumanga is like 5+ years old, so give it a little more credit then that =P Azumanga suceeded because it used different perspectives to everything. Also, it was generally more heartwarming and fulfilling seeing the characters bond and grow together. Something which I doubt LS will see.

Yes, Elcura is polite (beside his first LS comment in the other thread >_>), but he also analyzes thing 1 level deeper than you ever did in this thread. He tries to explain why he think it's not funny, instead of simply saying it's not funny. The conclusion is the same as your "Lucky Star suck", but the reasoning is not.

I can think off a few things off the top of my head that made me laugh, the jam scenes obviously, when aya and yuuichi have a reunion and aya goes to hug him, when makoto sneaks into the kitchen and yuuichi pranks her. I could list more but I won't go to deeply into it, but as before it is a different type of humour. If you read Yotsuba& you'll see how something can be normal and funny if you warp the context or perspective.

1min30: Annoying dancing intro
2min25: Kagami "translating" Konata invitation to the 'festival'. Made me laugh,
2min40: I dont think I get it the way I should, I still like konata reaction tho
3min20: Cleaning scene made me smile. I know I've done it many times when I was suposed to study
3min53: Kind of cute scene that make you smile if you like the characters. Show the contrast between the character
4min15: Crowded place, lot of nerd at the convention. Made me smile
5min:38: Konata misplaced passion always make me laugh
6min25: Kagami buying doujinshi...didnt think it was funny
6min40: Music+sound effect + konata being dedicated always get a smile from me
6min55: More of Tsukasa being "cute". Again, if you like the characters, those scene are always enjoyable to watch, if you don't, it's a waste of time
7min30:This scene win Episode 12, and probably the whole anime. GauronXSousuke yaoi doujinshi made me laugh loud...something that rarely happen
8min30: Animate guys are awesome, scene could have been a bit shorter, but the meta thinking and how passionate those guys are always make me laugh

That's 7-8 minutes of scene that made me laugh and 7-8 minutes of shorter scene that made me smile. Rest was of the episode was meh. For the Xth time, LS isn't the best or funniest anime ever made, but if you like the character and can relate to them one way or the other, it's definitively enjoyable. I could probably do the same with an azumanga daioh episode and would get similar result (scene are longer tho)

I generalize by talking about "standup comic" and the type of humor generally carried in those monologue...you take a precise example to justify your point (and poorly imo since it just reconfirm it's not funny when you can't relate to the subject).... I liked the the visual aspect of Lucky star, and the nerds joke make me laugh a few times every weeks...there is no way the show would fall in the 2nd category.


I thought the scene with Aya were more cute than funny, not that it matter how we call them, as long you like them <_>. Makoto annoyed me a lot early...thought every scene with her felt forced. The prank attempt got funny after a while tho

Yeah, I remember that scene. It did make me smile when I realised what it was from. I think it's ok to compare genres, but it's unfair to write of something because it sucks compared to something else. I did give LS a fair chance (7-8 episodes + random clips people keep telling me to watch).

I just finished reading the first 10 chapter. It's pretty funny and cute so far. Dunno if it will get old eventually, but I like it for now. Downloads are kinda slow...but it's not like I can complain about it >_>.

It's true both LuckyStar and Yotsuba talk about the everyday life, but they are still touching 2 differents aspect of it. One is from the young kid standpoint, the other is from a lazy gamer/otaku standpoint. The kind of joke that come out end up being different because of that. There is also a lot more contextual (not sure it's the right term here <_<) joke in Yotsuba, where something actually happen to the character. Lucky Star is almost exclusively about conversation between characters (they rarely have any interactions with the environement).

You should really try Episode 12, I thought it was one of the best so far. Not that I think you will like it if you hated 2-7 >_>, but I still think it worth the 20 minutes it takes to watch
