    Resolution woes

    Right, this is just about pissed me off now..

    My default resolution on my graphics card is 1920X1200 and I like it like that now. For the past I-don't-know-how-many months I've had it as 1024X768, now when I turn on my computer, bring it out of hibernation or standby, on startup the screen will flash onto the desktop at 1920X1200, go dark then go back to 1024X768. What's the matter with this?

    Not too sure really, it sounds like there's two programs controlling your resolution.

    Google for MultiRes. That's the best resolution tool out there.

    And zomg FFXI looks sweet in 1920x1200.

    On my system, occasionally the system will think it's on the second display, and I have to press FN-F8 to get the display to reset to proper levels. Other than that, if the display is resetting to a lower resolution, check to see if all the videocard's memory is recognized. Sometimes when a video card is about to fry, it will stop recognizing some of the memory on the card... and will not display above a certain resolution.

    Offtopic: Dell Quickset sucks... it's not that useful, and wastes memory resources. >.> Dell drivers for graphic cards historically also sucked massively, ESPECIALLY the Nvidia drivers *shudder*. I still have nightmares from the stupid Nvidia GeForce2Go calls I had to field back in the day.

    The card will display the reso I want it at, it just flickers back onto my old reso is all ><

    And I only use Dell Quickset to change the light colour on my XPS ;;

    I've got my drivers from the Nvidia site too, not Dell D:

    you don't need quickset to change the light level on your screen. Just use FN-up arrow to raise the level and FN- down arrow to lower. >.> I despise quickset if you couldn't tell.
