didn't someone mention also in the civil war thread that hulk's power is potentially limitless since it's based purely on his hate/anger which there is no known cap on it?

There only thing that is potentially stronger than the Hulk- me with the Hulk's powers. Considering how filled with hatred and anger I am on a good day, I would be at the very least 3 times as powerful. Septimus smash!

So uhh, I haven't read comics in many many years (elem school), I know basic abilities of the main heroes but that's it. If I wanted to get into the big storyline going on with some backstory, what should I be looking to read?

Well, there are two different canons now. 616 and Ultimate. 616 is the 40+ year old one. Probably what you grew up with.

Ultimate came to existence in 2000 with Ultimate Spiderman, followed by Ultimate X-men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, and the Ultimates(Avengers of this universe). It's basically a new marvel with mostly the same characters with different strengths and/or backgrounds. For example: Galactus isn't a humanoid figure, but a large hivemind group of robotic insects(it still has Heralds though).

The best way to get caught up is Wiki. Just spend hours on it and you'll learn what you need to know. Afterwards, go back to it anytime a comic refers to something you don't understand.

Now if you want to know Hulk's story in preparation for World War Hulk, just read the entire "Planet Hulk" saga.

I would start with Civil War to be honest. It pretty much changed Marvel's superhuman community a great amount. To start that, begin with the "Road to Civil War" arc of Spiderman.

Hulk can survive a nuclear missile at point-blank. In fact, it makes him stronger afterwards because he absorbs the left-over energy. I'm not sure if nuclear missiles were ever used in DBZ, but I can't think of any beyond Goku, Vegeta, and Buu would survive the blast.

There is another shit universe too, the zombie one, I dont remember what its called but captain america is colonel america. If you read any of the eXiles youll see a lot of interesting different universes. Im currently reading where they are on the hydra universe and its pretty cool.
