    Cerberus: Resist stun or no?

Got a small battle going whether Cerberus starts to resist stun if it's cast too many times early in the fight. I was under the impression that he did, and that stunning too much at the beginning would cause him to potentially resist a GoH-blocking stun toward the end.

So duz he or duz'nt he?

Had this discussion not too long ago on the Advanced boards.
No Cerberus doesn't build stun resistance. If you're a RDM/DRK or a BLM then your stun shouldn't get resisted pretty much ever.

Thanks for the answer. I'm surfing from work, and I actually did a search and found the "Resist Stun" thread, and a quick click on the most recent page brought me to what appeared to be a very NSFW picture. At that point, I figured I'd better find another topic =P

Anyway, yeah, i r dum, I'll turn off pictures next time. lol

Not to undermine Haper's response, but Cerberus can start resisting stun after awhile, but that's only if you would try to stun just about every tp move it tried using (considering that your question pertained to starting to use it too much early on in the fight). If you only use stun to handle GoH then the chances of it resisting are slim.

Never happened, Algol was bought with gil he got the hard way (not from your company) well before we ever tried fighting Cerb, and we've never fought anything with 40+ people before. Maybe if you got your head out of Aola's crotch for awhile you'd notice that.

I predict lame attempts by Elison to insult me and/or my ls will follow.

as much as the petty name calling and drama lulz about who is a dick and who is a cock between the two above me. Cerb can build stun resistance but its nowhere near as fast as say khimera can. You should be ok with an occasional stun until gates time, but I wouldnt risk a constant one.

Cerb definitely can build stun resistance.

We found out the hard way when we tried NIN/DRK on it.

Elison....Aola, what's the difference, you're both fags as far as anyone else is concerned.

Your ls took damn near two hours to kill Kirin (probably cause you couldn't hack your way to a quicker victory like your last gilseller ls did, and don't deny that the GM pulled your ls away at the last minute cause of it cause your screenshots show all). With 12 melee we took Kirin down to 20% in under two minutes, then nearly wiped, let it have its way with Elison for awhile (probably enjoyed getting raped by Kirin, as loose as his ass is), then we recovered, and beat it the old fashioned way (ALL of which took just about as much time as your Kirin fight took)

Let's see, no desire for a Dalmatica, already 3/5 on Hecatomb (lost lots on hec cap and I have no desire for the legs), and am well in line for Ridill...oh boy, looks like I'm not getting anything.

Came in here to give the OP some much needed advice about an hnm that your lolgsls could never beat (let's face it, if your pld can't stand up to mini Genbu, then you wouldn't stand a chance against cerb), and all you can do is toss out weak ass insults, skew the facts to whatever you want, and talk about things that you obviously have no knowledge whatsoever about.

Sad when barring a few uninformed (and knowing you two, probably lied to) people, the only people you can get into your ls are gilsellers.

In any case, if you're going to try (and fail) to insult me, let's leave it on the Siren topic and not pollute another.

Cerb does not build a resistance to stun. What you are probably referring to is a rare stun that got resisted due to low dark skill (nin, rdm, etc)

    IV. Griefing and Necroposting
Threads that are griefed will be locked. This doesn't apply to playful lighthearted banter, rather to intentional successful derailment of serious discussion. Repetitive quoting of a quote, excessive off-topic anti-topic posting, and other things of that nature will lead to a thread lock. Necroposting (posting on a thread over a week old without adding anything substantial to the discussion) will result in immediate banning. Being primarily FFXI gaming forums, repetitive comparisons to other MMOs with the intent of causing conflict is not acceptable.
BG is a privledge, not a right. Take your bitching to a new topic posted with screenshots of how sucky you can both be for fighting in a stun question.

so, the stun buildup is real gradual then? (looking for some form of a definitive answer). and an "occasional stun" would be fine then, but about how often would occasional be?

    also..since I don't think it'd warrant a new topic..

the last time my LS tried Cerb (was right after the patch when no one really wanted to do him, we wiped 6 times..one was a CFH with no one aruond ) anyway, we had some real problems at 20%..obviously with the stun order and such but it seems like paralyze was our biggest problem, I'm not sure if it was just a coordination on Cerb's part but it seems he'd do para->gates in quick succession.

So my questions are... should the mages bring some remedies (somewhat expensive, we have a lot of lazyshits in our LS) and is there anyway to get out of the para range for mages, or is it pretty encompassing?

On the distance Windower plugin, the range of both Hades and Ululation is 20' flat. The maximum casting range is between 22' and 23'. So have all your mages between 20' and 23' and you're solid. No mages should ever be paralyzed unless Cerb is moving around or something weird.

Yeah, there is no Stun resist build up. As RDM/DRK I had a Stun resist near the beginning of the fight before, but that's it. I've fought Cerb many times, and some of them were long fights at early hours with minimal people, and never seen Stun resist except on 1 or 2 extremely rare occassions.

Cerberus does not build a resistance to stun.

He does, however, build a liking to chomp on your stunners and hit a Gates while tearing apart one of them, which sent your whole stun group into a panic and no one stuns it.

Seriously, he doesn't build any resistance. I've fought that thing in Gates mode for over 2 hours in one LS (sad, I know). Any NIN/DRK references to resisting stun should just be shot accordingly, for you are trying to stun something with a half-skill level magic. I mean, shit, I've gotten resisted on Ovinniks with Stun on BLM. Does that mean our favorite Kuftal Tunnel friends build resistance to stun too?

Occasionally, like 1/100, you're gonna get resisted on that thing on BLM or DRK, and probably more like 2,3/100 on RDM (seeing as it's 200skill). NIN/DRK eats plenty of resists on it left and right and shouldn't be used as any comparison or in your Stun order. Let them spam the hell out of the spell for hate, if you're using one though.

I've fought Cerb as NIN/DRK many times alongside another NIN/DRK. There is -no- stun resistance buildup noticeable by jobs that have sufficient dark magic skill (RDMs, BLMs, DRKs). One of the fights was a 2+ hour, 9-man one, and the goh stunners didn't have any problems nearing the end of that fight.

I don't, personally, have a good landing rate % on stuns (prolly around 15-20%), because I'm usually wearing earth staff (-10% acc on thunder spells, go!) and NIN/DRK's dark magic sucks.
