You can get a handicap permit for your car if you have to drive someone around that is handicap..

The best way to approach this guy is to not jump on him but kind of joking say, "I bet you get a lot of looks parking that in those type of parking spaces." and he might say in a friendly way that he has a heart condition or something to prevents him from walking far or he might be a total ass and say he got it to drive his grandma around with.

Totally missing the point im trying to infuse in your head. It could be anything, he could be a dick, who knows. Maybe it's a staff infection, maybe the dude has terminal cancer and advanced HIV and is going to die in a week, maybe he just doesn't wanna ding up his car. I don't know, could be anything. Point being, just because he drives a new mustang and has no visable handicapes does not mean that he doesn't have a justifiable reason to park there. Maybe the odds are in favor of your opinion, but it only takes 1:100 to be falsely judging him.

I just don't understand why the government would give out a handicap pass for someone who can seemingly walk just fine. I'm asking what are the specific guidelines for obtaining a pass.

To get handicapped parking access you need to have a doctor fill out a form and send it to your state where it is accepted or rejected. If accepted you get like 2-3 tags. One for your vehicle, and spares for like when you might ride with someone else. This guy probably used a spare.

I probably could've gotten one after my back surgery... now it's too late as I am perfectly healthy though heh.

A close friend of mine has one, but if you saw her you would think she was perfectly healthy. Anything more then a short walk would kill her back. One of the few times we got to hang out (she lives about 400 miles from me) we went to an amusement park, and by hour 2 we had to go get a wheelchair for her, she just couldn't walk anymore. Just shows you can't judge a book by it's cover

Some people have nonvisible handicaps. Don't be so quick to judge.

Examples?

Roomrate had a staff infection in his hip. Had to have surgery and completely fused his hip bone to his femur. He cannot bend his leg at that hip. When he walks around, you would never notice it unless you were looking for it. Had a handicapped sticker. There are tons of examples, i'm sure that's not the only one. Again, don't be so quick to judge. And don't give me that shit saying they can only have certain cars. That's just rediculous. Also, pregnant women should get handicapped stickers and/or make pregnant parking (some places already do).

Read his post, he said he didn't want to accuse the person of not having a handicap.

But other examples include asthmatics and such who have trouble breathing or people who can't be too active for some reason or another. Or, as Miji said, someone who has the responsibility of driving someone else around who does have a handicap may have a card for them.

But seriously, my girlfriend has really bad rheumatoid arthritis - some days she is fine, but other days walking twenty feet is incredibly painful for her. She doesn't use her handicapped tag often, but there are times that she needs it.

My former boss used to get really angry about pregnancy parking. As she said: "We didn't need that when I was pregnant with my kids. If you're having that much trouble walking, you probably shouldn't be".

A few supermarkets in Buffalo and other stores have reserved parking for "expectant mothers."

A friend of mine got into a really terrible accident a couple of years ago, and during his recovery he was given a handicapped sticker for his car. Well, time went by and he luckily recovered, but he still uses the sticker.

Could be a similar situation with the guy in your case. He might have, at one time, been in an accident, and even though he has recovered from it the sticker is still applicable because the time on it hasnt run out or something.

And also, maybe he got into an accident and there was a lawsuit and he got alot of money, making him able to afford a mustang. That doesn't make him a dick...

then you get a temporary one you hang in the car. nothing you can do about it seeing how its legal. aside from kicking his ass and making it so he actually needs the sticker now.
