Norelco, if you are not implying that he does not have a handicap which you stated in an earlier post, and you are not saying he can't have a mustang which you just said in a recent post then what are you saying?

It's probably the misconception of mustang = kinda sportish, or uncomfortable for a person who claims to be crippled. Thus, the comment about not driving a van or w/e.

Not saying anything about whether he's handicapped or not, but it's illegal in many states to display the handicapped parking placard and using it if you're not handicapped and not driving around / picking up the person for whom the placard was issued.

My grandfather had severe emphysema before he passed away. He also had and used his handicapped parking card. Anything more than a short walk and he would be completely out of breath.

You can't judge if someone is handicapped from the simple observations stated.

You've said that a lot in this thread. By the same token of you saying "I hate post skimmers", i really hate people who read posts and take them at face value. If you actually tried to understand his post, you would have clearly saw that he was being judgemental of the person, which props to norelco for being self-analytical, admitted so. Also, no, he never said handicapped people couldn't drive mustangs, but he clearly was stereotyping handicapped people to being people who are retrained to some type of assisted movement device. Also stated it seemed absurd that a handicapped person could have a sportscar. It was obviously ignorance, as Norelco himself said he wanted examples of "non-visable" handicaps. Seriously dude, don't just read people's posts, try to understand what they are saying.

As I posted earlier, it is statistically correct to say that a person driving a mustang is more than likely not in need of parking right in front of a store. Thats just telling it like it is.

Where is your proof of this? If you make a statement like this you must know the ratio of handicaps that are visible and require a special vehicle such as a van to the number of handicaps that are not visible to the casual observer.

If you actually read this thread and not skimmed it people gave many examples of handicaps that are perfectly worthy of having a handicap tag in their car but in no way require a certain type of car and a mustang would be fine for that person if they could afford it.

I admit I am/was ignorant about handicaps and such. There's no denying that. But I don't think I ever insinuated this guy (if he's handicapped) isn't allowed to own a mustang.

if you can drive your car, park it, and walk around the store then carry the stuff you bought back to the car... you dont need and shouldnt have a parking sticker.

Edit: chances are if he drives a mustang then he can fit the criteria above and therefore really doesnt need a damn handicap sticker. sorry but those spots are for people who have to make special accomidations for their disability... not when they feel its uncomfortable they can use it to be lazy

Listen, when I see this guy walking around and shit, he doesn't look handicapped to me. When I think handicapped, I think crutches. I think limp. I think wheelchair. I guess being in pain can handicap you, but if everyone who was in pain got a handicap parking permit there would be alot more handicap parking spaces. Wouldn't you think?

You made the statement, the burden of proof is on you. Drive around a fucking parking lot, and see the Van:car ratio in handicapped spots. A mustang is no different than, let's say, a taurus or a camry, or a volvo. Only reason it was brought up was because the guy drove a sports car. If you couldn't tell from my posts, i work with hundreds of severly handicapped people everyday..

Also, i know this is totally hypocritical, and possibly a double standard, but this really pisses me off; When fat people get the motorized sit-down shopping carts at wal-mart. I really just wanna say "That's the fucking reason you're fat, get off your ass and do some walking". God that pisses me off.

One could argue that they are fat enough that they are...handicapped by their weight. Should they get handicap parking permits then?
