I was under the impression most stuff (all?) in WoW is instanced, so i cant see the comparision with a Ridill.

In WoW, you purchase mounts to get around, and they require a riding skill, which can be a bit pricey. With The Burning Crusade expansion pack, our max lv increased to 70, and we were given flying mounts.

At 70, your riding skill is 800g and 100g for the flying mount. Epic flying mount takes a higher riding skill which is 5,000g and the epic mount itself is 200g.

The difference between the mounts: Non-epic flying mount has a ground speed of +60% and flying speed +60%. Epic flying mount is ground speed +100% and flying speed +280% which is really fucking fast. 5,000g is just time-consuming to farm. Takes most people a couple weeks to make enough to buy one, unless you're like me and spend all your goldz lvling crafts to 375 or loan your gold out to ppl to buy their mounts. ehehehe

Ok think about it kinda like chocobos. Imagine a normal chocobo that you raise costs you 50 million gil, and is as fast as rental chocobos are right now. However, the rental chocobos would be 3-4x faster than they are now.

Then, for 250 mil, you could get your own choco that was just as fast as rentals, and actually faster because rentals are on set routes that are somewhat... scenic.

A better comparison would be to relic but easier to get. Basically, gold is almost meaningless in WoW, but the epic mount is easily the most expensive item in the game by a good little bit. And because gold is so meaningless, the large majority of WoW players (myself included) suck ass at farming.

Looking at IGE, 5000 gold is equal to about 17,000,000 gil in today's economy. That's quie a damn bit givien that, unless im sorely mistaken, you cannot resell any of your gear in WoW. Doesn't it bind to you alone or some shit...
