Maybe, but considering the guy can fucking grow blade out of his elbow, I just find him being roughed up a little and then just lay down powerless a bit anticlimactic, considering he just talked about how much he wanted to protect murasaki just few minutes earlier...

I don't expect Shinkurou to just go badass all of a sudden (although that might have been preferable, who knows?) but it's really dissapointing the way he just went down with not much of a fight like that.

Hopefully this is just a buildup for something more epic in the upcoming episode...but the series has pretty much been nothing but THAT.

Unless they find some sort of weird explanation with CC and the mysterious island, the ending won't be happy. It was implied more than once that Lelouch's action are bad, and he will have to assume the consequences sooner or later. Hopefully, it's going to be something an awesome and epic end for him.

I don't mind if he does if he kills suzaku before that happens.

On a tangential but related topic, it occurs to me that episode 9 was the point in the first season at which they changed the opening animation of Code Geass. The action seems to be moving away from Japan at this point, so maybe we'll see the same thing this weekend.

Well, up until episode 7, he's pretty much an enemy that he had to take care of anyway...it's just the last episode just ended up putting him aside as lelouch focus his attack straight at brittania instead of area 11's government, but if he keeps standing in lelouch's way (which he will, as the episode 9 and 10 preview seem to suggest), how is my expectation of lelouch killing him makes no sense?

Last I check, you get rid of obstacle in front of you if you want to achieve your goal, one way or the other one of them gonna end up killing each other directly or indirectly, my only wish is that it will be suzaku that dies, preferably in a huge fire.

He stated earlier that he doesn't want to use the tusk of houzki anymore, he wants to protect Murasaki with his own power.

Because common sense tell you that Suzaku mean a lot more than a simple obstacle. He represents the morals objection to Lelouch's actions since the beginning of the series. I don't care if you deny it, the writers don't consider Lelouch to be the "good guy". Someone who laugh that way he is when he trick people, someone who smiles when he is about to betray someone (Rolo), someone who blow up his own army and lie about it, someone who murders a friend who was ready to forgive him isn't considered "good" by any standard.

Unless they go for the bad ending (clockwork orange style), Lelouch will have to redeem himself, and killing the "good guy" isn't the best way to do it. When you take into account Euphemia's scene in first season, it's very unlikely Lelouch will be allowed to have an happy end, unless CC's magic fix everything (would be sorta lame and unlikely).

Because Lelouch isn't entirely bad and try to take care of his friend, I would say that the most logical conclusion would be a tag team with Suzaku against the emperor that end with Lelouch's death. It's not the ending I want the most, but it's the one I'm expecting to see when I take into account the details left everywhere

I was watching Negima (1st series) earlier, and god, Shinkichi Mitsumune's soundtrack are awesome. Rozen Maiden's was his best, but his music work so well with everything. If only it could make this anime better now...

His mom's death is most likely related to the emperor's power.It will probably be explained when Lelouch will face him near the end of the show.

I was expecting more along the line of him killing suzaku as his idiotic ideal ended up having him be in his way to the bitter end before finally killing the emperor himself, maybe dying in the process or something, but who knows. I mean if they killed euphimia over stupid shit like the geass activating accidentally, who knows what kind of bullshit plot twist the writers are capable of?

You gotta remember, both party pulled the trigger in Kaminejima, and Suzaku selling him off to the emperor in the aftermath isn't gonna make Lelouch any less hesitant in doing so the next time given the chance.

And none died. It's a story, people won't die before accomplishing their part and answering the mysteries. It doesnt matter what their actions is, Lelouch and Suzaku won't get a real chance to kill each other until the very end, and Suzaku isnt the one with blood on his hands.

Of course, they will fight one more time at least. Avoiding a final confrontation between both would be poor writting since it was hyped since the beginning. However, Lelouch shouldn't win the fight for the reason I mentioned above. The outcome will be his death, or a team up with Suzaku to accomplish their goal, but he will probably need to put his pride away for the second to happen.

And historically speaking in literature, heroes are allowed to have desire of vengeance after the death of their love, but they need to get over it eventually or they fall. I dont think vengeance is what Suzaku is looking for right now, he just wants to ask Zero "why?"

I wouldnt be mad if everyone is alive, I love the characters, but I wouldnt call that a great plot twist.
