Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

Did we lose a few posts? Seems like there were more replies when I was reading the forums a couple hours ago...

Anyway...

I have always just assumed that anime in Japan is like House/Heroes/Grey's Anatomy/etc. any other primetime show in the US, they just do it in anime form instead of with real actors and sets.

That's not the case. Most of the shows we watch are broadcasted past midnight - what Japan's otakus watch. They have their own j-dramas that are mainstream and compare more to the shows you listed.

Believe it or not, most anime we're exposed to, most Japanese people have never heard of. When I mention about shows I've been watching to my irl JP friends, they have no idea what I'm talking about.

However, if I mention about Case Closed (Conan), Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, or Chibi-Maruko-chan, they'll know what I'm talking about.

I guess Naruto and Bleach then are exceptions because I believe they show at like 7:30pm? And I remember reading that OP showed at like 9:30am on Sundays or something...lol.

I finished episode 10 of Daughter of Twenty Faces, really enjoying it still, can't wait for more, any idea how long the anime is supposed to last?

Naruto and Bleach actually are a little more mainstream type shows because they're on Shonen Jump...

... but still not mainstream enough to be comparable to US broadcast TV shows.

OP is 9:30 am sundays, on fujitv. FujiTV's 9am and 9:30am timeslots get around 7-8% viewer each, gegege no kitaro-> one piece.

I'm surprised that you all seem to hate this episode ;o I thought it was really fun. I like Geass when it doesn't take itself too seriously. Plus you get your typical "oshit" moment at the end...

The first 18mins was fun, but just that what they keep did on Sherly make me sad

Well...

[spoiler:2uqecls4]You knew that she'd regain her memory sooner or later... at least this way there was a logical reason for it to happen and not just happen naturally.

If she went through the whole season without regaining her memory I would have been pissed... because it would have been a great drama opportunity missed.[/spoiler:2uqecls4]

The only thing that comes to mind when I was watching Geass 12 was "God damn, they should give Sayoko a fucking knightmare"

I totally think she'd beat the fuck out of Xing Ke and Suzaku on knightmare combat...she's a fucking ninja for god's sake.
