btw, are the Japan live video streams down? >.>
Like I said, being predictable isnt a bad thing. There is a lot of foreshadowing, and most characters react like you would expect them to if you take into account their personality. They aren't trying to trick the viewer using cheap methods or anything (no surprise betrayal and the like).
It's obviously impossible to guess the technical details, dialogues and everything, but you can guess a lot more than your average show where the story is all over the place. Beside the first episodes in 2nd season, the show never took an unexpected direction. The major actors (Lelouch, Suzaku, and Britania king) are the same, and I don't expect to see any major change until the last arc.
What I call "unpredictable" are plot twists like the one in Gurann Lagann, or the transition between both arc in Death Note.

Well, it doesn't help that I think Code Geass recycled as many ideas as they could from other animes. I feel that their main objective was to include everything the viewer wanted to see, instead of trying to give us an original story.
Spoil me, please D:If the spoilers are correct, just wait until the next few episodes. Shit hits the fan in new and exciting ways!
Spoilers for next few geass episodes:
Spoiler: show
I thought we were talking about Code Geass not R2 ;o
Besides, what are the unpredictable plot twists in Gurren Lagann and Death Note? You mean about L and Kamina? Those are good examples but I don't see the differences in what happened to Shirley in the first season (everyone thought she was going to die) and the Euphemia incident (no one saw that coming)
If you limit the series to Code Geass R2 and not the first season, I'll probably agree.
Anyway, I thought Gurren Lagann was very straight forward show with that one single twist. Death Note was full of drama but I wouldn't say it was unpredictable...
Spoil meSpoiler: show
Although that last one seems kind of fake.
I asked my ls if anyone watches Code Geass R2, and they all started talking about adult swim and how awesome the shows are. I cried a little thinking how I'm surrounded by people who enjoy dubs, even 4kids.
holy shit.. it sound amazing. The part with suzaku sound pretty nice too...can't wait to see his reaction after.
I'm not talking about L or Kamina in particular, but the drastic change between what you expected the show to be, and what it turn out to be. Gurren lagann was straigth forward, but you never had any idea what was comming next. Who could have anticipated the arc following the beastmen's, or what would happen to Kamina (so early at least)?Besides, what are the unpredictable plot twists in Gurren Lagann and Death Note? Same thing could be said about Death Note. I never thought Light would actually win against L, and that he would be able to push his plan so far. His death was foreshadowed by Ryuk, but it's the only thing I was able to guess right from the start.
Code Geass on the other hand announced everything early, and filling the gap is a lot easier in my opinion. Lelouch's objective was clear since the first episode, and he is going to spend the next 40+ episode realizing his plan (starting with a small group of rebel and making the conflict evolve to a large scale war). Suzaku, CC, the geasses, the japanese, we know about those elements since the beginning, and they havent changed much since then. It's easy to get a good idea where the show is heading when you have almost every pieces of the puzzle in front of you.
Being able to antipate certain outcome or not isn't what make Code Geass awesome. This show is good because they managed to give us interesting characters and emotional scenes in a complex universe.
I still disagree about Gurren Lagann and Death Note. For Gurren Lagann, you know from the start what the end goals were (defeat the Spiral King and the Anti-spirals). You know the heroes weren't going to lose and just going to keep powering up. Kamina I can give you, but the story about the anti-spirals weren't unpredictable, just incredibly epic.
Same for Death Note, it was always Light and L trying to outsmart each other. Nothing that they did to each other was par for the course. No I couldn't predict where the plot was going to go specifically, but in general I knew they were just going to keep at it until the end, which was pretty much the case with L and then Near.
I still don't see how you can say Code Geass is "extremely predictable", given how excited everybody is during each cliff hanger episodes. Meh, I guess we can just disagree ;o
Here's some infallible words for you all.
everything is predictable in retrospect.
How did you know about the anti-spiral before episode 17? I was expecting the story to be about the war between beastman and human until Simon killed Lord Genome. I was actually surprised when we discovered that "spirals" were more than a symbol and that everything up to that point was simply a part of something much bigger.
Death Note isnt the best exemple maybe, because the show put a lot more emphasis on the execution of their plan than Code Geass or anything else, and it can be pretty hard to predict. You could say the same thing about Lelouch when he is trying to avoid a trap or fighting someone, but that's not what I was talking about.
I'm not sure if you played Xenosaga, but it's probably the best exemple of what I would call "predictable". There is so many symbolisms and informations that it is possible to guess the upcoming events based on what you know. We spend months on gamefaqs forum trying to figure out the next game, and it usually paid off. Most of our guess turned out to be true. It didnt make the game any less good for me, because it's by far my favorite rpg.
As long as the plot is structured, it should be predictable to a certain extent. It's not a "good" or "bad" thing, it's just different consequences of the various type of storytelling. Anyway, I will agree to disagree, because it's kinda pointless, and we both like the show. >_> Semantic ftl.
[edit]
Just for fun, my prediction for the last episode is a team up between Suzaku and Lelouch against Charles. Lelouch and CC will both die during this episode saving the world from what they called "god" previously (some power inking all Geass/human together that went out of control ). After this, Nunally will take over Britania, and Suzaku will become her knight.
I could make a long explanation why I believe this, but if it happen like this, I hope you will agree it was predictable to some extent. D:
I'm not sure I want a world without Lelouch! I think after all that he deserves a life with Nunnally.
Although, despite predictions and flow, Nina, Rolo and Suzaku need to die. Well, Suzaki doesn't need to die, but it would be nice if Nina and Rolo did. They're both crazy bitches.
Only characters that deserve happy endings imo:
Sayoko (only because her badassery)
Viletta & Ogi (and only if they are together)
Kallen
C.C.
Nunnally
Tian Zi
The rest can die in a fire, especially Rolo and Nina's crazy asses.
Schniezel right along with them, manipulating fucktard on a level similar to Lelouch (or so it seems)
I just watched teh whole NHK series, and it was rather depressing
It was still good but I wish he would have ended up with teh senpai
