I think most of the complaining is due to them still being sore about the episodes prior to this one.
I really understand see how (looking at it objectively) someone could actually think that was a bad or 'retarded' ending.

Yeah, I figured that, but the thing about a good ending is that it takes away the soreness that previous episodes leave. Not that I personally minded what happened before, in hindsight they weren't that bad if you didn't have silly expectations and just took CG for what it was.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with CG R2, it kept me entertained throughout and that's what matters. Could it have been better? Sure, but for what I got I'm still satisfied.

19:04 theres a picture of gino, chinese princess, ohgi, villeta(sp) and one other person. for those 4 to be in 1 place I think it would have had to have been taken after Lelouch was killed. so He's probably still alive.

also 20:01 in Ohgi's wedding picture, I believe that's him.
I dont see any hints that xinkhu (sp..) guy is still alive though.

That's my point, and why I think making an ova around it would be hard.

I doubt there will be an OVA. It's obvious they left it open-ended on purpose, and that would all kinda be for not if they explain it after the fact, wouldn't it?

Even if they did officially explain the ending, people will still believe what they want to believe at the end of the day. Plus you know the bitch police will roll in and go "WELL THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE LOL" so it's probably better this way.

the good thing is though... at least whenever I watch R2 a second time, hopefully i'll beable to enjoy it more knowing why Lelouch and Suzaku acted so out of character after Lelouch became emperor.

I just finished watching it today, and I have to say I'm very impressed with the way things turned out. Even though the season was rushed, they closed it off without leaving any loose ends. Just speculation as to whether or not Lulu is actually dead. The fact that all the old royalty, Jeremiah, Anya, CC are all leaves a pretty good indication that Lulu could very well still be alive. Only thing that kind of sucks is they don't give Nunally any closure. I thought that watching Lulu "die" in her arms was a pretty good scene.

Plot wise, starting from what Lulu had planned to the way it was executed at the end. They didn't leave you hanging with what Zero Requiem was like they had been the last few weeks. Aside from bringing back characters from the dead, they closed off most the loops that were open. The only one left open is whether or not on that farm, lulu is with the rest of the Royalty. Which is actually a closure in itself because even if he is alive, he can't show himself to anyone.

Loose end might not be the right word, but they did rush many things this season, leaving the feeling that there was a lot more than what we have seen. (ie: everything concerning Marianne)

The last scene with Nunally was the best this season in my opinion...was really sad. I still don't understand her plan when she was onboard the Damocles tho. What was she planning to do once she kill Lelouch?

I think they were hinting (when Lelouch finally decided to geass Nunnally), that she pretty much had the same idea as Lelouch... which means when she killed Lelouch, she was going to sacrifice herself similarly because everyone would hate her for shooting nukes...

That's how I understand it too, but how did she plan to "sacrifice herself"? If Lelouch wasn't around, Schneizel could have stopped her easily after. Unless there is actually a self destruct button on the damocles key, her plan was bound to fail >_> ...but hell, a self destruct button on this kind of devide would be retarded.

Yeah I guess, but that would be in that category of bringing characters back from the dead. Whatever was her story was insignificant because they had no reason to build on it and allowed them to rush through the last 5 episodes. I would have definitely liked more build up on Charles/cc/Bismarck/Marianne but it wasn't immediately imperative for them to explore those ties to go on with the plot.

Edit: She wanted to do what Lulouch did. She wanted to become the embodiment of evil and be an opposing force to Lulouch. That's why in the last scene with Lulouch she says she understands why he was doing everything he was, and just before that Lulouch also says he understands why she was fighting against him when he takes the key from her.

I still don't get the logic into placing a rampless stairs on a garden made for a cripple.

How the fuck did she get up the stair in the first place.

And it's very comforting knowing that in the world where even when giant robots are commonplace, stair capable wheelchairs are a rarity if not nonexistent even for aristocrats.

What I like the most about a story (in general) is when every little details serve a purpose, or have a meaning. This part, and many other feel like they had no direct use to anything

You could say Marianne is the reason why Charles decided to proceed with his plan I guess, but I still think it's not a good use of screen time to introduce something like this and kill her 20min after.

marianne's existence had been implied since mid-late season 1, throwing her into the cast only to kill her again within 1 episode is nothing short of retarded.

Had the same thought when I was watching it. A pretty garden with stair for a blind and crippled girl... overkill. Her wheelchair did stop her fall in the stair tho.

But really, the technology (and the whole socio-political context) was my biggest gripe in season 1 at first. I just couldn't get into the anime, because everything felt so unrealistic. I eventually accepted it wasn't suposed to portray the real world (like most science fiction story), but a fantastic universe annoyingly similar to our.

At the same time, they messed Anya's development by making us wait 15 episodes before telling us why she was important.

Marianne's existance had always been known but if you look closely at all the situations where Lulouch mentioned her, it was for revenge, and when he realized she was with Charles, you could say they just figured it'd be an easy exit for them by having Lulu turn on Marianne, not saying it was right or handled in the best way but I think thats how they saw it. The series gradually shifted from getting revenge for his mother to, bringing a perfect world to Nunally.

As far as the Technology goes, its just symbolism. The environments of Brittainia have an old fashion european feel to it, while their weapons are very futuristic, the goals of the Empire to conquer the world is a very Napoleonic ideal and so it fit well in that respect. It's a Mech anime, and you just have to kind of appreciate that unrealistic aspect of it. It's like a clash of High class elegance with cut-throat ruthless warfare, the kind Sunrise is good at.

Nunally was "dead" at this point and Lelouch had nothing else to look forward. Zero Requiem would have happened with our without her.

It's not that I don't understand what they tried to accomplish, a kid going against his parent is a very powerful symbolism...but it was horribly done. It's not something you can accomplish in 1 episode if you want to create something memorable. But I guess we agree on this.

I'm simply saying this style hurts Code Geass a lot.

If you want to write science fiction, you need to stick close to what people expect to see in the future. If you want to write fantasy, you need to disconect the reader from what he take for granted.
Code geass is stuck inbetween, and it's generally annoying.
