Moetan is very funny. It makes fun of the genre as well. I liked it a lot, in kind of a guilty pleasure kind of way.
Moetan was everything I hate to see in anime (even if it's a comedy), couldn't stand it. Only watched the first 2 episodes, and it's one of the rare series I'm not intending to finish. >_>.
Yep, pretty much, plus,
The story aside, I got the feeling she was doing what she was with no regard to anything else. Most of the actions she took made me sigh, her getting captured and controlled near the end was icing on the cake. She's the character type in anime that always pisses me off
Well, she has an excuse. She had a connection with the Vajra and their thoughts/feelings were heard by her, at the least subconsciously. She let in to those thoughts, which in a way fit with her own and ran away from the stress she had been going through. That's not exactly unheard of or completely immoral.
Still doesn't make it any less irrational. The end result could have been her slowing down and not running off like a jackass and perhaps not getting captured and controlled. It just feels like it was rushed, sloppy and didn't convince me at all. I couldn't empathize at all, everytime she had a backflash I just thought "Aimo again?"
Immoral, unheard of or not, it still doesn't stop it from pissing me off. Hell, she could have been undeniably justified in her actions, but her character and the writing still would have made me sigh.
It seems that every Gundam series is now required to have an underwater mobile armor that has claws episode.
I disagree when you say she had no regard to anything. She is the only one who understood that they could really communicate with the Vajra, and staying on the ship to fight them wasn't the right thing to do.
It's not like she left on her own trying nothing, she left to stop the war.
I noticed the same thing. Good episode though, got some backstory this time and also...
Spoiler: show
I said no regard to anything else. Meaning she was only concerned with her world without consideration for other things going on (namely let's leave a while a war is happening on a whim and see where it takes us). Running away from her problems on a hope and a prayer, saying she understood she could communicate is one thing, her running into Vajra territory in those conditions was stupid (and ultimately led to her capture). Fighting them is something else, but staying on the ship could've led to the same results, after all, that's where she ended up anyway. All she did was end up making things harder, needing to be rescued (again) and cause more trouble than was needed.
Doesn't help that the story and writing didn't make much sense, which is why I find it hard to care at the end of the day (about Ranka). Also, wtf happened to Sheryl's mysterious deading brain virus/parasite?
Maybe, but was running into her hands the smartest thing to do? No. If she got captured while with Alto and crew, I wouldn't have minded much. It has nothing to do with her getting captured, more to do with why/how.
You're still talking like she could possibly know about Grace's plans at this point. The only known ennemies were the Vajra, and no one could have predicted something like this would happen. Her plans was risky, but the only risk was suposed to come from the Varja, not Grace.
If she stayed on the ship like you said, she would have been forced to sing to fight the Vajra, which is not something she wanted to do at this point. It's not being selfish or anything, she just wanted to stop the war before it get worse. That's what she decided to do to protect everyone.
Can't believe you say the story doesn't make much sense. Unless I'm missing some obvious plotholes, everything was adressed nicely one way or the other.Doesn't help that the story and writing didn't make much sense, which is why I find it hard to care at the end of the day (about Ranka). Also, wtf happened to Sheryl's mysterious deading brain virus/parasite?
And Sheryl was healed by Ranka during the final battle.
[edit]
More precisely, it was done at 12min40 of the final episde, right after Ranka slaps Sheryl. You see the virus (purple light) slowly going down to her stomach. You also see a blood vessel shot with tiny virus swimming down.
everytime I see space ship things go underwater like that I always remember:
"dear lord, thats over 150 atmospheres!"
"how many atmosperes can the ship withstand?"
"well, it's a spaceship, so i'd say anywhere between zero and one."
the resemblance has become unignorable....
Setsuna with his Gundam 00 and his relationship with Marina.
Heero with his Wing Gundam 0 and his relationship with Relina.
not too mention their mask wearing, red mobile suit using arch enemies. though almost every series has one of those.
I've seen 00/Wing comparisons way too fucking much and I just don't see it. Setsuna actually plays the semi-emotionless person well, while Heero was too fucking suicidal. I swear. He fails a mission? Fission Mailed, BOOM! Gundam go bye bye. Relena Peacecraft and Marina also aren't comparable in a lot of different ways too. Marina isn't liked by her country, while Relena was adored. (Then again, fans hated Relena!)
And masked men/red mobile suits are a must obviously. Either way, ugh @ the 00/Wing comparisons. 00 is the best Gundam series imo since... well.. a long time.
I'm not comparing the 2 series in quality. I also think 00 is one of the better gundam series. I didn't say they were exactly the same. just that the characters seemed pretty similar. saying they arent slightly based on them would be stupid.
and in Heero's defense, he didnt try and kill himself because he failed a mission. he blew up his gundam so the enemy wouldnt get it. Except they still salvaged the parts for tallgeese anyways...
For a kid trained specifically to pilot a mobile suit and infiltrate/assassinate, if he isn't suicidal, he really shouldn't need to be standing in the motherfucking cockpit when he pushed the self destruct button, he could...you know, jump off and run a good amount of distance away.
All gundam series are loosely based off older ones, that's just how the franchise works. I would say 00 is more comparable to to Zeta Gundam (especially when watching this second season). Seed was a rehash of the original Gundam as well. The resemblence to Wing is pretty superficial in my opinion, and Setsuna is a much much better protagonist than Heero. His backstory of life as a manipulated child soldier gives him way more character than Heero was ever given, and unlike Heero, Setsuna isn't really the strong silent type anymore; he's very convinced in his beliefs and proclaims so a lot in these recent episodes.
oh, I didn't say he wasnt suicidal, just that.. well idk. I like cheese cake.
dont forget SEED season 2 was a rehash of season 1!Seed was a rehash of the original Gundam as well
