Um... i think Directvobsub let's u toggle if u want subs or not. I download something call K-lite codec. Includes directvobsub and codecs u need for most mkv file.

I'm using VLC, might have something to do with it, but it won't let me use Real Player.

Ignore what these guys are saying. The only thing you should have as far as codecs = CCCP. Just get CCCP and that covers everything, including .mp4 and .mkv. Use Media Player Classic with it, and badaboom.

If you use VLC, you can toggle the subs by right clicking in the video screen area and selecting Subtitles => English (or whatever they named their subs)

Yea that's what i'm hearing. Going to try one other thing first, and if that doesn't do, i'll go with this.

Yeah, well CCCP is all the codecs you need in one, so it solves all your problems.

CCCP is basically just ffdshow + mkv splitter + directvobsub. I hate codec packs. I'd rather have control of codecs (upgrade to latest, etc) and not having to wait CCCP to update.

Yeah, well CCCP is just simpler and it is there for everyone's use.. as in it's not a pain to go through and update everything separately.

Actually, it didn't work on RL, so i used it on VLC and it worked instead.

Just use CCCP and MPC and you'll never have a problem playing anything. VLC is bad with subtitles.

Jesus. First i change from windows media player because it sucks and VLC works with a wider range of codecs and now i have to get a new one cause it sucks with subtitles; will technology never cease to toy with me?
