Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

Did you guys hear about the One Piece: Romance Dawn Story, and the brand new Dragon Ball Z Special coming up on the 24th of this month? I didn't, and I'm fucking excited. We haven't seen a new DBZ Special in a looong time, and I don't care how old it is, I do still love it.

Btw, I'm probably the only person here, but I have to say I'm not really feeling it for Gundam 00 S2 so far. I had the same problem for the first season early on, didn't have the urge to watch new releases ASAP until the last 1/3 of the series. Maybe the second half of S2 will become awesome again like the first season.

Right now I'm actually more excited about Kannagi and Clannad each week >_>

Spent the whole night yesterday watching/reading Negima stuff (Negima!? 24-25, first episode of the OVA and first 6 volume of the manga). Manga is really...ewww. The amount of fanservice is killing it for me...I prefered the first season over it, even if everyone say it's a shitty adaptation.

Duh, it's the same guy that did Love Hina. Although I heard Ken wanted to do a more shounen manga but his editors/publisher wanted some more Love Hina type stuff so yeah the manga is kind of a hybrid shounen/harem/fan service - it does have 32 unique and nicely drawn characters though, one thing you can say about Akamatsu is he sure can draw good womens.

And if youre keeping up with the Negima Manga... Akamatsu can actually put action scenes together decently. That is once you learn to ignore the loli/shota and fanservice

If you strip away the fan service from any Ken Akamatsu manga you have maybe 10 pages of material for every 300 pages of 'story.'

That was true in the beginning, but since the festival arc he's really minimized the fanservice. There's still SOME fanservice, like has been said, I don't think the guy could draw something without it (there's another big bathhouse scene post-festival...). Amusingly enough, he's got a little beefcake service in recent chapters with the frequently unclad Rakan, and he likes to draw his male characters as bishies, so let it not be said that he doesn't strive for equality in fanservice. I'm not saying it's the best series ever or anything, it definitely has its flaws. It's just better than the first big chunk of it would make you think. This is why, I think, he has so much trouble with it. Battleshonen fans see fanservice, fanservice fans are put off by the later exclusion of fanservice. I just honestly like the story. Even the pacing is (normally) good. He is, at the very least, always moving the story forward (except in the usual oneshots and side stories).

Eh, there are a few realistic possibilities. Asuna's sister, her mother, Negi's mother, or some combination thereof... though I'm always suspicious of Negi's "sister"; until this character came about, I was certain she was his mother. She seems too old to be Nagi's child. Meh, hard to tell what his age would be now, Ken doesn't really tend to show the progression of age in adult characters. Eisun is one of the rare examples (Takamichi was a kid, after all, in Ala Ruba).

Sorry I'm not contributing much to the anime discussion, I haven't been watching anything recently (still trying to get time to watch more Higurashi, I like it so far).

Sometimes, editor will asking the author to draw some fanservice part even thought the author doesn't like to. It is due to the voting from 13years old readers respond to their magazine about what they wish to see.

If anyone has read the mange MX0 and To Love Ru, these two might be an good example, while To Love Ru still so famous in Jump while MX0 has a good story but the author had to end the story due to the popularity.

Cause it says "she" in the subtitles. And if I remember correctly the episodes where she was first introduced; the subtitles stated she was a "he". So it gave a huge misunderstanding of what sex Crona really was.


...Plus I always thought she was a he until I took a good look at the subs on 31. : p

But I remember seeing a his power or a his strength or his weapon somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it was Tadashi cause I downloaded this mega Tadashi batch of episodes 16-24.

Although there isn't any reason not to assume Crona is a boy either, she generally gives that vibe of a guy and I'm pretty sure people found out her sex via manga/official stuff.

Edit: Not saying wikipedia is always correct, but if anything official has been said, you'd have thought the info would be there already. Right now it still say Crona's gender is made ambiguous.
