I completely understand this is the anime thread, but I just got done finished reading the Saikano manga and had to say my piece.

One of the most beautiful fucking stories I've ever read. Haven't seen the anime for it but the manga ending is on par with an Evangelion ending that makes sense! Seriously, this is one of those epics where you brush aside the conventional love story and actually makes you think not so much wtf is wrong with people, but life in general. A brilliantly shining diamond in a sea of zomgpowerups! i iz teh stronger now, stories imo.

I read the first two volumes of Saikano but never found the rest, instead I watched the anime and found it...meh. The ending parts were pretty fucked up, but I'll have to read the manga if it's a lot better than the anime.

Saikano could serve pretty much as the prime example (even better than Eva) answering why Asian style storytelling about deeper philosophical meanings attract some Westerners and alienate others: few would ever learn the religious undertone in most mangas/animes dealing with death and destruction on a larger style, but in one of those stories, if you take what it is about on its face value and appreciate more of how it is about it, then it would be a great piece of art and entertainment... otherwise it is just a piece of junk either confusing to no end or utterly pretentious or even immoral/disgusting.

So I got some recommendations from a friend and he told me about Seto no Hanayome, I remember hearing it here and I decided to watch some episodes.

I just really can't stand the little spirit Maki. It's another one of those annoying characters that always interfere in everything and it seems to get old really fast. : / Other than that the series is really funny and I'm enjoying it.

I just had one question, is there any difference in the DVD version? I got the first 5 episodes in DVD and I'm wondering if a lot of the stuff is normally censored, if it's true I think I'll just wait for more DVD releases cause it was kind of annoying on series like HnG where it kind of made it annoying seeing everything censored. : p

Don't expect progress after the first 2 episodes. It's a comedy where the romance and character development take very little room.

I don't think so. It wasn't hip to censor stuff to release them on DVD at that time.

kannagi 7 is fucking amazing.

It's like telling the viewer that they can make an entire episode based on minimal animation and good writing and still be more entertaining than half the series out there.

The way they pretty much not tell the viewer what's actually going on and give them wrong impression with the way the conversation goes is also fucking hilarious. I fucking love this series.

Same here, the reactions and silences are so fucking golden. I loved when Jin/Jun (I never remember) realized all his porn was in the closet and Nagi just blurts "big tits" out of no where.

I love how the cast doesn't seem to have any wasted characters at all, all of them are pretty fucking awesome, especially loved the 2 senpai's commentary. If only other school life love comedy are like this, I wouldn't spend every fucking season bitching about nothing good to watch.
