Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

I'm starting to get back into anime after a couple years away. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for the best shows in the fall season. (I don't like shonen anime as much anymore so none of the big names please)

Start with Death Note (watch 5-6 ep at least) and Gurren Lagan (dont stop before ep 7-8).

Might want to list what you like or what you are looking for if you want recommendations.

He is just lucky L never opened his watch during the detainment. It's not the kind of mistake L usually do.
Light generally planned his stuff ahead in a way it was hard to fail. His plan were solid, and he could adapt them easily, leaving little to luck. Was he really outsmarting L tho? That would imply they were fighting on even ground

Well i must say being in Iraq has its advantages. Almost every Haji Shop you go into has pretty much any movie, cartoon, tv show, and best and definately not least Anime. best of all they sell them in complete box sets. Since i been here i have watched every Naruto all the way threw Shippoden to episode 16, Blacklagoon, all the dragonball series, rewatched full metal alchemist + the movie, Berzerk, Elfen lied, trigun, outlawstar, and several other full sets that i can not remember fully off the top of my head. The best to this point that i have watched was "Death Note" i seriously wished it had not ended.

Having a second set of eyes that can not be detected, a note that kills people, another Kira that would do anything for Light, ability to wipe memory at whim makes the fight unfair.

If it was:

Light with a Death Note vs L

it would be on equal ground only after L knew about the note.

Yes. He can let go of ownership and get rid of memories of the note. As in, erase memories on a whim. It doesn't matter how many times he used it, he still had the ability to exercise it whenever.

That just implied he might've used the notes in the room, it doesn't really prove anything. If it was anything concrete they wouldn't have needed near to "bust him" at the end. On the other hand screaming "I WIN", then going batshit crazy+admitting it, is kind of hard to play off.

Either way it seems very unlike Light to be overcocky and get caught by "slipping". Almost feels as if they were pressured to making the happy "bad guy dies in the end" ending.


I always thought death note was intended to end after L's arc and not introducing mello/near. It was almost as if the original creator 's original thought was: "L dies, kira takes over the world." Then the publishers/etc go: "its too dark and sends a bad message, can you make it so he gets caught and receives his just deserts?" and so he had to make crap up like ok L's successors will come out of nowhere and win by extremely unrealistic means(near finding out mikami was 2nd kira was the most ridiculous plot hole i've ever seen, *room spins around near, near goes SSJ detective conan, and with no proof at all,* OK ITS THIS GUY, IM 100% SURE, cuz i saw the videotapes n he seems susicipouz lulz.

Few things:
The actual cut off point was during Mello and Near arc, where the guy was told "lol this has to end so do it k?" "lolk" and thus you have rushed end. Near finding Mikami was a very long drawn out process that was scrunched into 10 seconds in the animu version.

They were already suspicious of him, and the paper thing confirmed their doubt. It's pretty clear they are convinced he is Kira at this point, and nothing will change their opinion. That's why no matter what Light said, the only one he could have convinced was Matsuda.

For Near, not seeing Light name in the Death note was enough to beat him, because he knew only Light could have orcrestrated this. He wouldnt let Kira leave the room, so it doesn't matter how much Light tried to talk people out of it if they weren't all dead at that point.

You're talking about Mikami? I supose it was obvious, because even Light said it should be easy for "L" (Near) to find the suspect, and it was a part of his plan.

Also, keep in mind Near/Mello arc was twice as long in the manga if you only watched the TV show. The kept the important part, but removed 2-3 scenes completely , and cut many 1 chapter long monologue. It doesnt help making his plan look complete when they take away half of the text.
