The series relegate the Gundam into a basical warfare armament instead of turning the series into a dynasty warrior with a single gundam destroying zaku that isn't red colored, which is kinda the draw of the series, because it's somewhat realistic (as realistic as a series with giant robots get anyway)

G Gundam is so bad it's almost good...or something, I remember watching it on toonami, but really you'd get better mileage from watching gaogaigar or something if you want super robot vs monster of the week with repetitive usage of special move.

Though your experience of that genre will be fucking horribly dilluted if you've watched Gurren Lagann.

The RX-79[G] were basically Gundams, but not Gundams... if that makes sense. Think of House in a way, Haha. The RX-79[G]/Ground Type/Ez8 were Gundams/Mobile Suits built from the spare parts of the experimental RX-78 (Original Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam). So basically, it wasn't a Gundam, but it wasn't just a regular GM Mobile Suit. It was a mass produced "lesser" Gundam, so you're partially right here.

Gundam 08th MS Team is basically the closest you'll get to a series without any specific OP Characters that always win. It feels like a real story about a real Mobile Suit team out in the world, doing operations and what not that aren't all shiny or spiffy.

Anyways off the gundam subject. I finished Ichigo Mashimaro and it was pure awesome. Gonna watch Grenadier now and see how good it is.

But eh. See, SEED wasn't horrible. It was a nice premise.. a nice change of pace from the Universal Century Gundam stuff (ie Mobile Suit Gundam, 08th MS Team, etc).. but Destiny came along and completely borked everything. The first 13 episodes of Destiny were new and inventive, then Kira "Aimbot God" Yamato came back into the fray, and basically stole the show. Now, I don't have huge issues with Kira other than the fact that he NEVER KILLS EVER. It's so crazy.

Off my rant now. Can't wait for the final episode of Xam'd. I've been so surprised by how awesome that show is.

I watched about 13 episodes of Xam'd, but at the time it was too much of a hassle to keep up with new releases. So I'm gonna wait a couple more weeks for a batch torrent and finish it. It's an interesting show and the music is awesome.
