Ahh. Misread then. Be more clear with me! My brain isn't fast. =[
Agreed. Patrick, while a "bad guy" for most of the series was just hysterical. I loved him and his Immortal Luckiness. Him and Kati make a good pair, and when he reminded her that she was the start and addressed her as Colonel, I laughed at her correction.
And I dunno. I always like Saji and Louise through Season 1 because it was war through regular eyes. Then you go to the dark part of their relationsihp during their 4+ year split due to Saji's studies and Louise getting involved with A-Laws to get vengeance for her parents. Then you have their clash, and it gets even darker, but as they say; it's always darkest before the dawn.. it gets so low, it can only go higher, etc. Louise was annoying through most of Season 2 with her "GundamGundamGundumuuu" and Saji with his crying, but Saji did get a shit-ton of character development, that's for sure. That's why I love their good ending, and how it came full circle with Louise asking Saji about the political parts and problems of the world.
Agreed. Well outside of Setsuna, Tieria, and Sumeragi imo, Saji did get a ton of development.
Gundam 00's ending was absolutely perfect. ....Except telling me there is a movie coming out in 2010 that I get to wait for, that isn't very nice. =(
Yeah i really dont see whats wrong with the ending. I enjoyed it and think it was a perfect segway into the upcoming movie and not a bad ending to the 50 episode series as a whole.
Randomly... does anyone have Kishin/asura music from soul eater? Was hoping it would be in OST2, but its not in that or 1 (or did I somehow miss it...?)
deaths in a Gundam series have their role, and I can understand why some would see a lack of those as a cons.
Gundam was all about battlefields and the cold reality of war so it was perfect to have "senseless" casualties during the hardest struggles. Of the most recent series, Gundam Seed was perfect because some losses where absolutely "random" and quite made a point : no one is safe because this is war and war isnt about piloting a supercool invincible mecha pwning grunt suits.
Gundam 00 s2 on the other hand reminded me too much of Wing : main pilots are basically untouchable and it's simply a matter of how many minutes they will need to trash their evil counterparts
I thought the ending was too forced/deus ex machina'd
I mean as cool as the fighting was, come the fuck on, the second half of the episode is totally unnecessary. By that point, I just didn't even care anymore as the Lockon killing that Innovator scene earlier has got to be one of the dumbest thing ever in giant robot fighting.
The epilogue was pretty bullshit too, I actually had the biggest smile on my face when I saw that one guy in kimono hunched over dead from comitting seppuku because I thought that was Graham Aker, that he would meet his death in obscurity without as much as a scene, and that would have been a poetic justice to a faggot that has been wasting screentime the entire season.
Then the damn thing kept rolling and it just went downhill from that point on... I saw andrei, still alive, the french faggot, still alive, and finally...graham aker, still fucking alive.
Guess that corpse was like the guy that taught him bushido? who knows...fuck sunrise for cockteasing me though.
No, I'm not gonna bitch over how much better it would have been if more people died, but you really can't fault me for wishing those particular people to die horribly no?
In any case, I've got to say the high point of the entire finale was the movie trailer of second half of gurren lagann, or naked tieria floating around.
In SEED... uh.. who died again? Outside of the villains, and Nicol/blonde haired Gouf-piloted fag of Destiny, along with Stella when she became "good", no one important died in SEED/Destiny. No one. Don't say this could have learned from that or anything. That's just stupid in my opinion. Saying no one is safe due to SEED? Rofl. Kira/Athrun were hardly touched, moreso Kira "Aimbot" Yamato and his beam spam, yet he didn't kill anyone he attacked. If you want to talk about senseless death and what not, say 00 Season 1 because there was a shit-ton, or Universal Century stuff. Using SEED as an example makes you look really dumb. I'm not trying to be rude or anything by using derogatory words towards you, but seriously. Using SEED/Destiny in an argument for "senseless death" is just... I mean.. ugh. I'll leave it at that. Use your imagination.
Season 2's Setsuna was a bit godlike with Trans-Am, but everyone else untouchable? Did you not see the condition of Lyle/Al's suit? Fuck, Tieria basically died in a sense.. yet they are untouchable. Alright. Sure, we'll go with that. I'm not going to say you are making accusations that seem silly because you dislike the series, because as I've said a ton on here.. the series had a tons of problems, especially with character development. You're just making the wrong claims for why it was bad.
^-- All directed towards Tomino by the way.
Anyway, the epilogue to me was alright because come on; S2 had a ton of negative shit throughout. From Louise going fucking nuts, to the shit that went on with the world, A-Laws fucking shit up, etc.. it was about time we got some happy endings. Andrei living pissed me off too, but I hope the guy redeems himself for being such a douche. Graham being fine and out of the battle actually surprised me, but fit because I don't think he should have any qualms with Setsuna anymore. That and when he shows up to help Celestial Being fight off whatever it is in the movie like I know he will, it'll be all that more awesome.
Also, Zilong.. that was Homer Katagiri, ex-leader of A-Laws hunched over after offing himself. And uh.. movie trailer for the second half of Gurren Lagann? Eh? Naked Tieria was rather trap-ish though.
Anyway, I fucking lol'd at the SEED comparison. I have to mention it again. That's so stupid. Next time villains of an anime, grunts and a side-side character count as "senseless deaths", let me know.
Actually, Mwu LaFlaga dies (Destiny was just fan service). The redhaired love of Kira dies. The shorthaired vicecaptain of the main ship dies (and sorry lol i dont remember the names). In SEED... uh.. who died again? Outside of the villains, and Nicol/blonde haired Gouf-piloted fag of Destiny, along with Stella when she became "good", no one important died in SEED/Destiny. No one.
I didnt expect Setsuna to die, as I never expected Kira to. But the whole of Ptolemy safe from any harm and 0 loss inside the main battleship after the crucial battle is just SSJ mode. A thousands suicide suits not killing a single major character or causing any damage at all is a wasted idea, imho.
With "senseless" i meant deaths you arent necessarly leaded too.Next time villains of an anime, grunts and a side-side character count as "senseless deaths", let me know.
There are moments in a show where you basically know that character is gonna sacrifice for some greater good with nice music and manly tears. Mwu LaFlaga death was a blast, no one saw that coming and so it was for the redhaired : she simply suddenly died.
Yeah, that was why Mobile Suit Gundam blew so hard. I mean, a huge final battle with everyone on the ship going to close quarters combat with the enemy and no major protagonist died? What a turd of a show, am I right?
Plus none of those SEED deaths were random or anything past the "I am a heroic sacrifice" or "This dumb bitch is going to be fridge'd by the bad guy so Kira will be mad." If you want a Gundam show with death, look at Zeta or Victory. Tieria pretty much fulfills the major death quota that most Gundam shows have for their finales.
Looks like the final ep of Gundam 00 scored a 3.5% rating (way down from their average rating of 4.47%)... which is the exact same rating as Geass R2 final ep ;o
Hasn't the Seed movie been infinite delayed? Although I guess this movie is a bit different as its actually a sequel so maybe it will actually come out in 2010.
They need to rename this thread Gundam 00 discussion, lol.
I saw The Girl Who Lept Through Time just now, was a really nice story but I found the ending kind of corny. Figured Chiaki would have kissed her or something at least. : p
Seed had like 11 deaths or something in the second to last episode. The 3 test pilot girls from Orb who just got killed by random enemies. Flay's (the red head) death was a surprise because Kira stopped the first shot, then no one sees the second coming at all.
And ya, the Seed movie is infinitely delayed because the writer or someone got sick, I think.
00s ending just had too many problems working out perfectly in the end -- not as bad as R2 with it's collage of resolutions before the final battle, but worse than the first season. Graham shouldn't have existed in this season, Andrei didn't even seem to forgive his father in ep24 so not sure what happened there, and Sumeragi should 've shot Billy cause he didn't deserve a happy ending >.>
Also, what was the point in Marina and the kids going up to space? It seems like they just wasted a ship that could have been helping in the battle to bring her up. Still, I'm really glad she and Setsuna didn't meet up, but her monologue though took away from the final battle.
I thought it would have been better if they hadn't had so many innovators in the final bit so that it's more of a surprise when the movie rolls around that innovators have infiltrated society so much and start causing trouble (my prediction at least) -- or maybe they are there just to work together with humanity...
Yeah, the SEED movie is pretty much delayed for an indefinite amount of time since the director has been sick and what not or something. I hope she gets well. I'd like to see the series come to a true conclusion.
Either way, a 3.5? Ouch. That sucks. D: Also, Mwu did not die. If they didn't make Destiny, then Mwu's death would have indeed sucked hardcore, but as it happens.. Destiny WAS made, therefore, Mwu did not die. Natarle's death did suck, but she had to help the enemy, and she was relieved to be killed, so I wouldn't call that senseless either. Fllay's death wasn't senseless or out of left field either. She had death flags all over her for a while, what with her being a crazy nut and all. Any Gundam fan could have seen most of those deaths coming from a mile away. While SEED was an okay series, Destiny was one of the worst series ever created after Episode 13.
Either way, enough Gundam talk. It's over now. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to stay up til 3AM or whatever on Sunday Mornings to watch FMA2 or not.
Edit @ Serra: Yeah. I know SEED did have deaths, but as I pointed out; important ones that weren't side-side characters or villains. Fllay's was predictable, but Mwu's did suck. Good thing you can't say "I DONT COUNT DESTINY", so Mwu didn't die. D: That's why a lot of fans were going "Noooo" when we heard Lockon was "alive."
And yeah. A lot of problems did get solved just fine there at the end with a happy end, but really.. were they all happy? Sure Saji and Louise are fine, but they still lost important people over the last 5+ years. Is the crew of CB really fine? Sure they are alive, but they still have to carry out missions and such until they are no longer needed. Are Al/Marie fine? Not really as they still have to find themselves. My point is this: they may have happy resolutions at the end of the series, but it's not truly a happy ending for a lot of these characters just due to the amount of how much they've lost. That's my way of looking at it.
As with everyone, I agree with Graham and how much of a waste he was. I've been thinking that maybe he's just a character in the Second Season to show what obsession can do to you. He was obsessed with Gundamgundamgundam, that he basically lost himself in it.
Marina's monologue was alright, but she was such a useless character. It's a shame. Relene and Lacus would have been like "Wow. What a useless female lead." In fact, I'd say Sumeragi was more of a female lead. So glad she didn't bite the bullet.
And as far as the Innovators go, you would have to read the 00 Sidestories to know what that's about. Specifically 00P/00F. I won't spoil anything as I have a feeling it'll be a plot in the movie, but eh. If you want to know, I'll tell you.
Kira stole the show and made it unbearable with them not killing him. Then came Jesus Yamato meme and oh here he gets stabbed by Shinn and falls into the ocean with a destroyed freedom, yes! Fuck he came back what the fuuuuuuck. It would have been much better had it kept Shinn as the main character than Kira steal it from him. Rehashed ending didn't help either.
Exactly. 1-12 was ACTUALLY okay, what with the three new druggies, Shinn and the crew of Zaft, etc.. but Kira returned and ruined it all. As a character, I actually liked the Kira/Lacus dynamic at the end of SEED, but when he became Jesus in Destiny, then got stabbed/exploded with the Freedom, but didn't actually die, then returned with the Strike Freedom and raped more shit, making Shinn look like a pitiful pilot.. that's when I was like "Uh.. so did Jesus return to Earth or someshit?" That "Impulse stabbing Freedom through, but Kira not dying" bit was just so fucked up. Then again, I'm glad Shinn wasn't the main character. That's quite possibly the most crying/whining I've ever seen in one series, and yes.. it even trumps Kira from SEED when he was confused on what the shit to do. SEED to me mirrored Mobile Suit Gundam a ton obviously as it was their plan, but Destiny didn't even do that right. Kira was afraid as Amuro was to start, but worked into his role. In Destiny, Shinn just cried about his dead sister, had daydreams about his parents/sister when he looked at her fucking pink cellphone (the cellphone thing, by the way, was so fucking retarded) and etc. I could rage harder, but I don't want to write more essays.
The ENDING.. oh god, talk about a total fucking rehash, no kidding. That was a bright spot with me and 00's ending. At least it wasn't a fucking mirror image of the previous season, but replaced characters. (Rey replaced Rau since Rey was a Rau clone, etc.) D: Sure there was a "Final Boss" but there is always a final boss. SEED/Destiny just seemed to copy each other, including the stock Freedom animation in a lot of episodes after Kira upgraded to the Strike Freedom, rofl.
The ending was a let down...I was hoping for something after the credit..but sadly, nothing. I've seen worse, but there was no reason to end it like this. The promise is way too vague, and the lack of happy ending is kinda weird considering the light hearted nature of the movie.
Yeah and they never explained the importance of the picture either...at least I don't think they did.
You know, I never realized how much I missed the Al/Hal sporadic/balls out style fighting until this episode.
