Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

I love hayate 2nd season so far. It's cheap and easy humour like always, but it works for me.



Eden of the East was great again. I've no clue where the show is going, but it's beautiful so far, and I'm enjoying every bit of it.

I just watched Valkyria first episode, and I thought it was pretty good in overall. It reminded me of Spice and Wolf...except that Horo was replaced with Kana.

(and before anyone ask why, it's the main character's design and the colorful alternate Europe that remind me of Spice and Wolf).

Anyway, despite the fact that I enjoyed it, I have the feeling the game was even better. Is the anime any good if you played the game, or it's a big downgrade? If the game was much better, I might just wait for a ps3.

The pacing is different (obviously), getting to Isara's/Welkin's house took a few short missions and cutscenes because by that time Alicia trusted Welkin more. So far it holds up well, but it's too early to tell since the story hasn't even begun. Somehow I doubt they'll capture some of the more epic moments in the missions though, buuut, then again I did use some crazy blitz tactics.

Hard to not remember her when the VA use the exact same voice and similar speech pattern. That and I was still watching minimi-le last week...it's still fresh in my memor

And yeah, Hayate first episode was awfully done. I wasnt going to drop it, but I was ready to complain every week until the show end if it stayed this way.

Obviously, but if the main characters are portrayed accuratly, we can expect other to be well done as well

So far, every game/anime transition I watched sucked (Xeno, persona, Tales, Devil may cry), and were unwatchable if you liked the game. Something tell me I would feel the same way here, but I enjoyed the 1st anime...so I dont know.

Well, a sure fire way to prevent disappointment would be to watch the anime first and play the game when you get the chance. So far, it's doing well, the art and animation is nice, I like that they use the same music the game used (though that could be bad, the game kinda lacked a varied OST) and I think they'll keep to the game faithfully, though perhaps some changes need to be made so it's interesting (like Largo using a machine gun).

Was Persona anime that bad? I was under the impression it didn't have any links with Persona 3 (apart from Akihiko showing up) and was a separate story? Unless... that story sucked.

Persona was just bad. I didnt watch a complete episode, but i dont think I would have been able to enjoy it. Never heard anyone say it was worthwhile either.

I'm glad they are using the same ost for valkyria. I loved the little I heard in the demo.

I've been enjoying K-on! so far. I have to wonder though if the music for the OP/ED are going to be anything like any music they make, the ED seems a bit too "punk"(don't know a better word for it) for the personalities of those 4. I can believe they'd make the OP song. But I also know nothing of the storyline of this and if they actually get anywhere as a band or never get past it being just a club they do together. And that'd determine whether the OP/ED matter or not.

From what it sounds like, at least from what the characters said in one of the episodes, their goal is to perform on stage before they graduate. They are all still freshmen in high school basically, so, this is either going to be a really long anime, or they are going to go through these 4 years pretty fast.

Also, the ending doesn't seem to fit with the characters too well (again, just based on things they said in the anime). The girl singing in the ending said she never wanted to be the center of attention, which is why she chose bass....but she is singing in the ending. >.> I am probably just overthinking it all though, the characters could all change by the time they actually perform, or they are just there to be the opening and ending of the anime and have no actual relation to things that may or may not happen in the anime.

At the risk of repeating myself, Valkyria Chronicles is great. I watched the 2nd episode a few minutes ago, and loved it again. It's not East of Eden kind of great, but it's probably the series I enjoyed the most this week. I can't explain why...I just love the setting and the main two characters. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the typical school setting and angsty teens hero....

Yeah, I think it'd be somewhat disappointing if all they get to do is one thing at the end like Lucky Star doing their OP. I'm hoping for more music than just the OP and ED, though it won't surprise me in the least if the song they do is the OP, lol.

Yeah the ending really doesn't fit, but in a few years she could grow out of it, though I think it's too "dark" for the crew anyway. They look great in the ending though, part of me will be happy if they do go that route, heh. I'm hoping though that they get semi-big. They don't need to be huge rock stars or anything close to that, but Haruhi managed to have a band in it that was pretty good by the time they went on stage at school, no reason an anime all about a band couldn't have more music than that.

I think the drummer has potential, I think she fits the drummer "stereotype", Mio on Bass looks good, as she's the smart/studious type that'll be good at anything she tries and the keyboardist is the daughter of a guy who sells instruments for a living, so she probably has lots more training than the other 2. That just leaves Yui, who just in last episode was shown to have amazing potential when it comes to learning something new. It'd be silly to give her that and not get her playing fairly soon, and if they all 4 can play in a few more episodes music just has to come soon, right?

Yeah, Valkyria is certainly good. Refreshing setting and some nice concepts (even though quite a few are typical/cliché saw it coming types) and good characters that have a nice dynamic. Good thing about war settings is that while it usually takes years to get attached to someone to the point where you really care for them normally, it takes months in a war setting.

I think the only character that annoyed me was Isara, but that's just because she can be really stubborn, but she's a strong character which is good.

I've been pretty much watching the same shows as you. K-ON is good. The story is quite original since the other two music themed animes I've seen didn't revolve around a high school setting but most of the characters are stereotyped somehow to a typical anime high school girl. (Ditz, Hyperactive, Embarassed a lot, etc) I really enjoy it and I'd at least give it a shot, it's probably not bad enough to make you want to drop it.

I don't really have a set line of series I watch, especially nowadays since Japan regurgitates about every formula we have already seen x's 1000000.

FMA2 and the rebuilds of EVA is about all I am keeping up with this day and age. Naruto just keeps getting more lol'able and I would actually rather play the Valkyria Chronicles game since the anime is just basing it's storyline off of it.

I hope this remake trend gets Trigun a run.

Do yourself a favor and watch it. Don't pass on an anime that get 15 "great episodes" in a row from different posters. I don't want to overhype it, because I could see people getting bored by that kind of story, but the probability you enjoy it is high.
