do you think when I talk about KyoAni's financial benefits of airing new episodes inside re-runs, I'm concerned with those of us who download and watch torrents?

in case you aren't aware, anime is a mainstream entertainment medium in Japan, most people who watch trendy shows don't talk about it on 2ch or pick up "original work" light novels/mangas afterwards

Two months late, but I completed Gundam 00 tonight. It was awesome. I really liked the direction they took with the story, and the ending was satisfying enough. There is about 1 billion things that might have been annoying if I was watching weekly...but in a marathon, you don't have time to overanalyze every details.

Definitively a must watch if you can endure the slow start.

The whole Lockon thing was spoiled to me already, but it was a cheap way to bring him back. I don't think it was a bad thing in overall, but when you look back at it, it feel kinda stupid.

Actually, many parts feel scripted when you stop and take an objective look. Drama is nice, but is it really possible to be less lucky with the match up? No matter where they are, they always meet up agaisnt their nemesis. Because of this, you lose the impression they are actually fighting against the world.

Some character were completely wasted too. Graham had a really good introduction in the first season, but everything was trashed in season 2. He piled every possible stereotype, and managed to have absolutely no impact on anything. It's a shame, because I thought he would be one of my favorite recuring character early.

Wang liu mei, Nena and a few other were also wasted. Some of them served their purpose, but in the end, they could have been a little more useful to the story. They just did their thing and died. I supose not everyone can get their "sad" death scene...but it was just unrewarding in this case.

Oh well, there was many good things to make up for this. I loved what they did with Louise character, it was unexpected (kinda..you knew something would happen with her). Saji..not so much, even if it was ok (thank god he wasnt the main character though). Setsuna was interesting for a lead character. You expect him to change and become emo, but he is constant through the whole show.


Smirnov/Marie/Allelujah were my favorite for sure. I liked them right away, and their story kept my interest through the whole show. I'm actually surprised Marie survived this long...especially after getting a "good end" around ep 12. And Allelujah keeping both personality was unexpected as well. You expect something bad to happen...but it never come.

I hope they are not saving it for the movie thought >_>

On second thought, Sigh of Suzumiya Haruhi had Nagato went ballistic on Mikuru after she fired off the laser, and have the one moment in the series where Kyon actually is pissed off at Haruhi enough to attempt beating the crap out of her before Koizumi stopped him, so I guess it shouldn't be too bad.

They could have opened stronger on the new Haruhi season. Just feels like a below-average episode of season 1.

Man. What a fucking intense episode, and it solves a couple more puzzles as well. I personally like how it seems episodes 1, 3, 5, and 7 (and most likely 9 and 11) are intense episodes while episodes 2, 4, 6 seem to be more fluff/story expanding episodes. Leads me to believe 8, 10, and the subsequent movie in 12 will also be of sorts that way.

Either way, I love this series and Diana is <3

Agreed, this episode of Eden of the East was amazing. I'm sad it will be such a short series, but dragging it out could have probably ruined it, so, I am just going to enjoy it for what it is.

No kidding. I love the opening. Heck, the ending is addictive. It's one of the few series I've sat down and watched from start to end, including intro/endings.

With Disappearance arc being that late in the season, I honestly don't give a damn about the series anymore, the whole artstyle change into K-On faggotry already pissed me off enough as it is

I'll watch the new episode and all, but it's like all the fanboy zeal has long since left me :/

Although I am happy that Snow Mountain is in it, and looks like if this is the pace they're going with, they can probably catch up to the novel within another season or so (Intrigue is right after disappearance epilogue, assorted short stories, and finally Dissociation), but with the fucking 10th novel being a vaporware, I doubt we'll see the next season within 2 years.

On the bright side, it might actually end up with new FMP coming out soon, but I'm sure there are other shitty 4koma or key games Kyoani would rather fag around with.

Mm, I thought there was something odd about the characters. They look a bit too much like the designs from the churuya-tan/otaku-yuki shorts, I think... But I'm still glad to see Snow Mountain Syndrome; even if the rest is difficult, that was a really good little story and I expect good things from the adaptation.

Has there been any actual NEWS about Astonishment? The last thing I remember seeing was a release date in mid-2008. It's not exactly like the light novels are Homeric epics, should be able to easily knock one out every year. Hell, look at Piers Anthony, the man's written a Xanth novel every year for the last like 350 years. Mind you, they just get worse and worse every year, but hell, it's still 500 pages he shits out between scouting the local middle schools and hidding his secret fortress even deeper in the woods.

Well, it's part of the major story arc like how Dissapearance was, I guess Tanigawa just hit a writer's block or something.

The cliffhanger of Yuki being sick had me :/ when I finished reading Dissociation.

Though the implication of the existence of a Slider within the kouhai that was doing SOS-dan tryout was interesting, the way the light novel laid out to accomodate for that was really weird though, so that may also fuck with his writing plan.

You're not supposed to understand it. It's like Haruhi and Lucky Star, it just gets overhyped and blown out of proportion. Don't get my wrong, it's entertaining to watch but it's nothing special.
