Just watched K-ON Finale yesterday... I didn't think I would like the show but just as I was really getting into it, it's over.

Japanese Mahjong Scoring

What I usually go for is the pattern where it's the concealed hand with no 1 and 9, unless it's painfully abvious you can do an all chii or all pon hand. Also, if you have a special character pon, or the same wind pon, go for it as you can win with it by simply doing that.

when I try to do a Ron sometimes or even a tsumo(so far 100%) when i try to do either it'll say i don't have a multiplier, i'll screen shot it next time.

Your hand needs actual value for you to win on another's discarded tile. When you keep calling tiles like that, you'd better make sure you can actually get points at the end. Your hand was worth zero points, which is why you couldn't finish your game there. Maybe we need a Mahjong thread in the tabletop gaming forum, so it will actually get used for once :D

Exactly. You should look over the scoring rules for Japanese mahjong to make sure you're getting points before you can ron ;o

The easier ways to get points:

- either all pon, all chi and not mixing either
- Not calling anything at all and go for a "riichi"
- disgard all 1s and 9s
- having the same wind pon or a special character pon.
