Anime Thread. [Prob not 56k safe]

I liked haruhi in the last 2 episodes of the first season, and strangely, they were the only 2 episodes I really enjoyed. That show need to stick to the weird stuff.

The story in Haruhi is strong enough to stand on its own, but Kyo-ani for some reason wanted to use gimmicks for the show, which was completely unnecessary.

I've really enjoyed Sigh so far. The opening of the 2nd to last episode was hilarious, with Haruhi telling Nagato to use magic on Mikuru and Mikuru being so scared and then her falling...lol...

The other characters are certainly the best part of it all, especially with how things are going. Nagato is still a badass, Koizumi has flopped from considering Haruhi a god to considering her...the enemy? lol And Kyon is still really close to how I think I'd react in such a situation.

I hope S3 doesn't take so long to get here and there's no Endless Eight bullshit. If the wait is just as long as S1 to S2 it'll suck.

One thing I absolutely hate about Haruhi S2 is how they just randomly decide to finish an episode at really awkward moments. First time I've seen such a thing, lol.

I've read that every episode in this arc so far contains exactly 55 pages of the novel, which leads to these awkward ending moments.

I didn't think Haruhi was a likeable character either, so glad I'm not alone in thinking the rest of the cast makes the show (at least the first season) enjoyable. At least when it ends next week I can start looking for batch torrents, just remind me what episode number endless eight episode 1 and 8 are so I can skip the rest lol

Actually, I might just download them all and think of all the raging fanboys as I merrily skip them all. I'm surprised Kyoani apologized at all, didn't think they would pull that off.

Also, I can't wait for a Negima anime. The current/next arc is great and if they can keep at least the quality of the latest OVA's it'll be good to watch.

Eh, soon as we realized what they were doing with Endless Eight I figured they wouldn't have much worth watching. Sigh is ok, but it's far from the best story in the series. This is definitely one of Haruhi's lowest points, but no I don't recall her ever being likable. Must be why it's so damned hard to see Kyon having any attraction to her. They do seem to overexaggerate Mikuru's helplessness, though, which thoroughly irritates me. She's not terribly useful in the books, either, but they seem to portray her as just completely vapid. Maybe it's the voice acting...

It's less of Kyon's actual attraction toward her and more of him having some sort of uncanny similarity with her that forced him to become dependent on her existence. He's basically almost the same as Haruhi in the inside as far as wanting an extraordinary life is concerned.

The interesting difference lies in the fact that Haruhi actively searches for it in the outside, but deep down inside she believes that it can't possibly happen. Kyon on the other hand, outwardly denies actually enjoying the situation he's in, but when given the option to live an otherwise ordinary life, he chose to return to the world where he'd continue to live the extraordinary life enabled by Haruhi.

For the most part, the overall romance and attraction is almost nonexistent to begin with, or one sided. I mean Kyon was on the point that he'd wait to the last second before the entire world would be destroyed before he chose to kiss Haruhi, so that's probably saying something on his feeling toward her. If anything it's just a one sided attraction from Haruhi, with her being jealous of anyone who comes close to Kyon.

But that's just my take on things, but from what I've read on the series, I can honestly say that Kyon probably have more attraction to Koizumi than Haruhi

Zilong is right. That season (Winter 08 ) was absolutely horrible. Maric Holic was very good, but it was pretty much the only thing worth watching (unless you count the Seto no Hanayome OVA which was release around the same timeframe)

Although, it was saved by the very good 2-cour shows in Fall 08:

Nodame, Kannagi, ef were also in that season but they were ~13 eps.

Oh yeah, Kaylia's favorite show Kemeko Deluxe was also in that season! ;o Never watched it myself though lol

Think you meant Winter 2009. Minami-ke, druaga and maria holic were the only anime I watched that season I guess. I thought Toradora and Gundam were in the same slot.

Winter seasons typically start in January, and last january was 2009. It's the first season of the year, not the last. I don't know, everywhere I checked said "winter 2009" for maria holic, so I will go with that ;p

Between the (*'________') and general unfunny-ness, I wasn't able to watch. None of the characters seemed interesting or funny, it was just...shit.

Pretty much but the <redacted> reaction reference was fucken hilarious.

Canaan EP10 was alot of fun I stop caring about the plot and just see what awesome over the top events we would get and PA didn't disappoint.

I liked the first few episodes. Miyako was retarded enough to make me laugh, and the art was a nice change of pace. It started getting boring when they introduced the new neighbor. Everything else after was stale, aside a few decents scene here and there.

It definitely did come out of nowhere... I'm still really enjoying this show though. Needed more Senjougahara that episode. =(

edit: Zan SZS has been pretty funny this season, but it always is to me. I love all of the small things that they make fun of.

Even though Saki is in filler mode right now, it's still so interesting... I wonder if they coordinated the plot with the mangaka.

But then I guess it's not hard to do so with the "sports" shows ;o
