I haven't been keeping with anime worth a damn for years now but I just watched Sword of the Stranger. Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood shit. Main character was a little too Kenshin-like though.
It's really good movie but wish they gave more back story to main character and the dog kicks ass.

why the fuck do i always have to click those things
I won't spoiler it but you should check the novels they are all translated but sadly the manga isn't

    First four vol :

    Tomino you so mad

Yoshiyuki Tomino Press Conference - Anime News Network

So, if in the future I am allowed the opportunity to create another series like Gundam, I have a concept in mind that I'd like to realize.

As I mentioned earlier, there is this political theorist, Hannah Arendt, whom I admire deeply. She wrote about the possibilities of totalitarianism. What I'd like to do, if I ever have an opportunity to create another Gundam-like series, is to use this theme. The possibilities of totalitarianism and the dangers of it. I would embed it into this work and tell the story of totalitarianism and its dangers using robots or cute anime.
    lol
Perhaps starting with Gundam, but certainly series since such as Evangelion and Macross and many other series, the lead characters tend to be in their early teens, thrown into the middle of a war, stuck in a giant robot and suddenly they figure it out. What were the cultural reasons behind this kind of character being so popular?

Because the sponsors are toy manufacturers. You all laugh because you thought I was making a joke, but that is actually more than 50 percent the truth of the matter.
    Oh you
I'm sure you know that there is this huge Gundam robot that is being erected in Odaiba. When the project was first explained to me, I'm embarrassed to say I really lacked the imagination to imagine what it would be like, and I was very against the project. You'd have this large object that looked really cheap and tawdry. However, now that I've seen it, I'm really moved and I feel tremendous strength and power from this huge Odaiba robot. It really focuses on what I like to call toy-like colors. These toy-like colors don't have the color of real weapons and real tools of destruction. They're peaceful colors. Happy colors, the kinds of colors that little kids like. And they are the kinds of colors that encourage people to say, “don't give up hope. Have great expectations and have great hopes for the future of human kind.

In fact, I believe that this Odaiba will serve as a kind of new Statue of Liberty, something that will stand tall and be an inspiration to people. These were not my comments actually, as I was very negative about this project when it was proposed to me A friend of mine, a rather important person, a famous person in Japan, said it will eventually become a Statue of Liberty for a new generation and he was absolutely right. I feel privileged to have someone so insightful near me. I would again like to stress that you must not compare Gundam to anything else. It is not simply a robot story. It is not simply an anime. It is much deeper and much more valuable than that. Despite the modest tone I've taken until now, it is pretty awesome.
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO TAKE IT DOWN

I want to see a totalitarianism gundam just cause that would be very interesting to watch, assuming it goes well, from start to finish.

Just finished watching the mecha-anime Zegapain. Sunrise sure likes dabbling into various different theoretical theories and futurisms. Reminds me of people going type 2 civilizations from Michio Kaku's explaination. Although it was pretty good, it felt rushed in some points.

Just started watching CANAAN (Am I supposed to caps lock this?) and even though I'm kind of late, I'm actually enjoying it. It feels fresh and who can complain about babes with guns. : p

God wish Fall would come sooner all anime shows either ended or ending soon.

    Princess Lover

Sad it had promise to be a decent anime but over all was ok just last 4 ep were complete mess as story went no where but it's saving grace was EP8 which i watched 3 times from start to finish cause how funny it was.

    Canaan Ep12

Can't believe next week is last EP, it's shocking this Yuri show but doesn't feel like it cause how crazy and twisted some cast are but I will say this best anime this season and I'll buy the whole Blue-Ray Box Set when it's released state wise or JP one cause how enjoyable the show is.

    Bakemonogatari Ep11

Thank god we have actual movements and expression from what previous offered us but I still wish it had higher budget cause I don't think Shaft had confidence in the show when they first started making it at the time, another note The novels are amazing as I can't wait for Vol4.

    Cencoroll

I mentioned this anime few months back and animenewsnetwork posted their Review.
Cencoroll - Review - Anime News Network
There's so much going on under the surface that the short running time is particularly frustrating. The film plays like a pilot, teasing chapters more of what might be lurking around the corner. At the same time, the puzzle of it all propells Cencoroll into something far bigger than the sum of its parts. I can only hope that, should it be a success on DVD, more might be made. But until then, one can only make do with what we have: a film that defies any and all expectations of both medium and genre, that makes us marvel and has really little time to do much else. To feel that breathless sense of strange again from anime is something for which I am indescribably grateful.

    Overall (sub) : A-
    Story : B
    Animation : A
    Art : A-
    Music : B+
+ Utterly inventive and original. Wondrous and intriguing far beyond most anime of its era.
− It's a great first episode, so where's the rest of it?

Bakemonogatari ep 11 was decent, but I'm still pissed at the previous arc. Talk about pointless fanservice/character. That show is so much better when it's mysterious

Hayate 24 was passable I guess. I don't know how many seasons are left, but I hope this one end soon.

Umineko last 2 episodes were pretty good (much better than the last arc). I hope they will accelerate the pace for this arc, because this show is really awkward when they are not dealing with murder and other mysterious crap.

I finally completed Monster (72 episodes). I loved it, even if the story was dragged near the end. I would definitively recommand it if you like detective drama. It was a nice change of scenary after watching a ton of colorful animes. If you plan to pick it up, manga is probably a better choice since the animation and music werent great, and some episodes were stretched on purpose (long scenes without any dialogue).

    The 2nd Gurren movie>

    pics

Info, spoiler for size and spoiler for new shit added
    Spoiler: show
    -70 minutes of new animation
    -Final battle is completly new
-More than 10 new mecha debut in the movie
-Nia is a lot more prominent than she was in the TV show
-Lord Genome gets dealt with rather quickly, the battle lasts 10 minutes or less.
-Prologue to the story with Nia writing in her diary and doing the narration, describes what the seven years before the Anti-Spiral attack were like. Newly animated sequences of Dayakka's wedding, Nia saying good-bye to Yoko when she leaves Kamina City instead of just Simon and Rossiu being there and other random stuff
-Simon's proposal is the same, but Nia's answer is different. Nia and Simon go for a walk in Kamina's City's central. They talk and Nia gives Simon a new proposal and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla: long story short: Nia becomes the Anti-Spiral Messenger in front of Simon.
-Messenger Nia is a lot more meanacing. She actually controls the Mugann this time around instead of just trash-talking the Spirals.
-New scene of Kittan and the gang in a bar
    -Some Rossiu scenes get shortened
    -Yomako-sensei arc gets cut
-Simon gets bullied BY EVERYONE in prision, and Viral steps in to help him when they all team-up to lynch him.
-Messenger Nia attacks Simon and Viral in jail instead of just trash-talking them.
-The moon turns into a giant Lazengann with Anti-Spiral's face
-Lord Genome hacks giant Lazengann and gives Simon enough time to break into the moon and convince Nia to let him take over
-Rossiu punch gets cut, he is slapped by Kinon instead
-They are trapped in the Sea of Despair right after they teleport
-Nia is naked in the Anti-Spiral analysis/torture sequence. Inappropiate parts are covered by hair and Anti-Spiral's arm, though.
-In the middle of the Tengen Toppa battle, Anti-Spiral reveals to Simon that Nia will die if he is defeated. When Simon loses his fighting spirit, Anti-Spiral tears Tengen Toppa apart.
-Nia then summons her own Tengen Toppa mecha, Solvernia, to save Simon's life and fight against the Anti-Spiral.
-Nia's will to keep fighting and her words about how even if she can't win against "her destiny" she will keep fighting against it because that is the right thing to do inspires everyone else to keep fighting and they all summon their own Tengen Toppa mecha.
-They all get an action sequence against Gran Zeboma.
-When Lord Genome absorbs the Big Bang Storm and gives it to the Team Dai-Gurren, they use this energy to unite all the Tengen Toppa into Super Tengen Toppa, the blue giant in the OP.
-Anti-Spiral becomes a giant of energy, too. And Anti-Spiral and Super Tengen Toppa clash drills.
Both Super Anti-Spiral and Super TT use Giga Drill Breaks, they are both destroyed and Tengen Toppa comes out of Super Tengen Toppa with a Giga Drill Break and it clases with the normal Anti-Spiral mech and they both get destroyed and so until only Gurren-Lagann remains. Viral takes Lagann out and throws him to the Anti-Spiral planet, like in the TV show.
-HOWEVER, Anti-Spiral manages to punch Simon out of Lagann. Nia catches him with the almost broken Lagann arm and throws him towards the Anti-Spiral himself.
-Simon and the Anti-Spiral have a fist-fight. Simon gets punched and punched and punched while the Anti-Spiral creates new arms that come out of his body. Like in the TV show battle against Lord Genome, Nia screams to a battered Simon that she believes in him. Simon's arm then turns into a gigantic drill and he uses a Giga Drill Break to finish-off the Anti-Spiral.
-New scenes back in Earth: Simon says good-bye to Lagann before the wedding, Nia has a conversation with Yoko and gives her her diary.
-New scenes in the epilogue: Simon keeps Nia's ring in as a necklace, he is drilling wells in desertic villages so that they are able to grow flowers. (In the conversation Simon and Nia had in the park near the beginning of the movie, Nia talks to Simon about how her dream is to make Earth a place full of flowers of all kinds, so that people smile and are reminded about the beauty of life).

best fucking movie ever, all source is taken from Japanese/European reviews of the movie, just taking info from /m/ and /a/.

This last story of Bakemonogatari seems decent, was curious if they would cover her problem. Kind of sad that the next episode is the last though, but oh well, was a good anime while it lasted, and maybe more episodes in the future, I hope. >.>

Oh, and the second Gurren Lagann movie is already out? Awesome.

Don't click as it's about the GL Movie 2:
    Spoiler: show
Still wish they'd let Nia survive all throughout, but I guess they can't do that. Either way, Nia's lookin' good in the movie, and holy shit at tons of action. I can't wait to see that. D:

Either way.. I'm looking forward to Darker than Black 2. I can't wait for that shit.
