A thriller eroge turned anime. I was reluctant to take a dive into this, but I am decently happy with the first episode. Since I didn't see any translated versions out yet, I will give a semi-detailed synopsis.
The anime starts with a flash back to the main character, Satsuki Kakeru, seeing his sister die due to what appears to be stomach wounds from flying chains, I am guessing this is going to be explained a bit later. Kakeru appears to be around the age of 9-10 years old. His friend, Yuka, witnesses it in shock as Kakeru falls down.
OP
We also see a red haired miko doing a type of incantation and attacked by flames. She is scarred with some type of kanji on her forearm.
The anime flash forwards to the present where you see Kakeru wasting time on their school roof and Yuka visits him. The main character has a rather large and prominent eyepatch covering his right eye, which is explained as blindness and heterochromia.
Anywho, we get introduced to two friends who seem meaningless. They invite Kakeru and Yuka to an outlet mall but Kakeru declines despite Yuka's eagerness. As a result, Yuka then decides to not go. (They seem inseparable). They return to Yuka's home and we are told that the two are adopted orphans in separate homes. Kakeru decides to go with Yuka to the outlet mall anyways out of guilt.
While they are crossing a bridge, they just randomly, and through a traumatic way, transport to a parallel world that is filled with a red sky. Devoid of any other people, they encounter horribly designed monsters. They at this point return back to the normal world. Kakeru has a dream of a girl resembling his dead sister and Yuka wakes him up indicating that she couldn't sleep.
When they get to their school, a new transfer student who is quiet is introduced. Shiori seems to only have a peculiar interest in Kakeru and confronts him. When she does, Yuka feints from being unable to sleep the night before. Kakeru carries Yuka to the nurses' office wedding style.
They encounter a delinquent who seems to be an important character, unnamed but is Takahisa, at the nurse's office. The nurse is big tittied and asks Yuka if her and Kakeru are dating, when he leaves.
The anime wraps up Kakeru and Yuka deciding to go to the outlet mall again and spend the remaining of the day as sort of a date. Yuka asks to have Kakera use her lap as a pillow and the two gets transferred to the parallel crimson sky world again. Surrounded by the monsters, the anime ends with Kakeru seeing his dead sister, or who looks like her.
I have to say, this anime has decent quality in animation style, pace, and voice acting. Daisuke Ono is Kakeru's voice. He is Itsuki in Haruhi, Battler from Umineko, Maya, Student council president, from Mamorukun. His voice is older but strong and rough. His voice sets the tone of a stronger main character for a bishoujo harem type but well for this thriller type. Yuka is voiced by Mai Goto. She lended her voice to the little sister characters in Happiness!, Nogizaka Haruka no himitsu and Kemeko Deluxe!. I guess its fitting considering Yuka's small slender stature in the anime.
Overall, I have to say that this will probably be an interesting sleeper anime with fan-service, violence, and some gore. Noticed a lot of pantie shots, but one lengthy close up one was "steamed" out. The nurse had jiggly boobs that moved freakishly independently. There is no violence yet, but its preluded by the OP that they will be fighting in a sort of fantasy-sword type of way.
Crunchyroll will be hosting streaming for this, so episodes will be there and other places relatively quickly. Hopefully it won't be poorly translated.
Anywho, I think its worth checking out.
