Oh, I most definitely agree. Even Fate/Zero was a toilet read for me at best. But I did specifically refer my comment to Fate/SN and I'd be pretty surprised if that was a miss for any anime fan who read/played more than 5 minutes into the novel/game.
As for the best arc, I could write pages for UBW... but I won't. >.>
half the magical explanation of anything in f/sn game was blurry at best...don't even get me started on the raison d'etre of characters, shirou's especially annoying to read
edit:
nvm, nice trollin' bro
Nasu had good ideas but his writing is far from good. Looking forward to the UBW movie but fear it will feel too short. Hopefully they make the first 10 or so days very short and focus on the good scenes.
I have some questions about you guys' problems with Fate's writing.
1. Did you guys read the original Japanese version, did you read it while playing the game or a text only transcript?
2. Are you guys not satisfied his writing form, style or his story organization, like sloppy loopholes the way Heroes writing gets after the first few episodes?
3. If it's up to you, how would you improve on the writing?
I'm just trying to understand what was this "writing" dissatisfaction you guys are talking about when speaking of a story that relied on the pictures (yes it really did) and background music, and even some of the interface options to tell.
I'm guessing the bulk of my dissatisfaction of his writing may have come from it being lost in translation. I played it translated with japanese voiceover
My biggest gripe with his style is his convoluted style that really goes everywhere to describe something while not actually describing anything. Maybe it's supposed to make more sense and have better flow in the original japanese format, but some part is just fucking annoying to read when I played it.
I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the game, it was a decent read, and I do enjoy some of the scenes in UBW and HF (I just held ctrl through Fate, true story)
But crowning jewel of anime literature? That's kinda overstating it.
The most amazing thing about Fate/SN to me was perhaps exactly what gave you the most frustration. I loved how the story had somewhat a grand background and worldview, yet the author only touched on it slightly, just enough to lead in the story, and focused inside the small town and the characters revolving around a single conflict.
Most anime/Japanese fantasy writing (hell, most fantasy writing overall) love to exhaust the entire universe that was initially created for a few characters, and the essence of the story eventually gets diluted and uninteresting. I can name a few very popular anime stories that fell to this fault, and I believe so can you.
Even Fate eventually did, what with all the side stuff that came out after the first few stories became popular in the community. Yet the first story, Fate/SN, was large in scale yet extremely focused around its core. You can't tell me that is a common thing in all the animes or light novels you've watched/read over the years. Personally I can't remember another off the top of my head that was always intense and fluid from start to its very end.
I had seen the FMA anime before and now reading the manga but what is bugging me is, why is there so many differences between the manga and anime. There are HUGE changes too like Sloth. Woman in one, Dumb muscle guy in another.
The original anime followed the manga up until they ran out of manga to follow. After that, they made up their own version, while the manga continued according to how the author envisioned it. Anything that wasn't established pretty early on was likely to be quite different between the two.
FMA: Brotherhood, the new anime, is sticking to the manga, since they've got plenty to go on now.
Finally caught to current bakemonogatari and dam 12 was awesome Hitagi-san ftw. I heard 13 comes out 28th of this month, anyone know dates for 14 and 15?
Thanks I was hoping I would buy whole set when I'm in japan but I looks like I'm importing.Apparently, the 2nd half of the 2nd episode is not.
August 8, 2009 (Theatrical) December 9, 2009 (DVD).

Must watch List

-To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.
-Seitokai no Ichizon.
-The Sacred Blacksmith.
-Tentai Senshi Sunred 2.
-Sora no Otoshimono (Nothing good on Sunday beside FMA and This).
-Kobato.
-Kimi ni Todoke.
-Darker than BLACK.
Undecided List

-InuYasha The Final Act (Good job on another fuck up Sunrise ^^ b )
-Miracle Train (Not fan of Yaoi)
-Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Purezza (No plot and I'm following to many fanservice shows as it is).
-11eyes
-Sasameki Koto (RailGun is enough Yuri for me)
-KIDDY GiRL-AND (Never seen first series and RailGun is enough Yuri for me)
Shit Season List
-FAIRY TAIL (Terrible voice acting and no budget in the show).
-Queen’s Blade 2 (Fuck this shit).
-Natsu no Arashi ~Akinai-chuu~ (Same style as all their previous shows which means I watching still imagine than animation).
-Kämpfer (for show about fanservice they even cutting the fanservice LOL).
I haven't watched many shows this season, but other than the sequels which I'll still follow, what I saw so far on Seitokai and Nyankoi I wasn't really that excited about
I did like Kimi ni Todoke though.
i like kampfer![]()
Sacred Blacksmith in a nutshell
So far, the only thing that I'm really excited to watch is DtB2, kinda a bland season tbh
I'd give Sasameki koto a little more credit of being just yuri, or rather, its a better yuri than Railgun. Railgun is a fanservice yuri, while Sasameki is a romance yuri...
I totally agree Sasameki is better Yuri since RailGun Yuri is actually a joke and doesn't represent the whole cast which why I can stomach it than Sasameki koto.I'd give Sasameki koto a little more credit of being just yuri, or rather, its a better yuri than Railgun.Railgun is a fanservice yuri, while Sasameki is a romance yuri
Since I'm Re reading Index/RailGun Novel here some Picture want to post just for Hell of it.

DO IT
Fucking hell, they even killed off Yin over the transition too ; ;
I was actually happy she survived S1...but this is so depressing now.
I personally enjoyed the Nasuverse stories. F/SN has been my favorite (especially HF) but I loved all the lore. Is it the best writing ever? No, of course not, but I still had fun with it all. I watched the first two eps of KnK but am waiting for the last DVD to come out before I watch the rest. Also, anyone looking to expand their Nasuverse experience should google Battle Moon Wars. It's a FFT style game that does a really good job combining all the stories. Takes place after HF so if you haven't played that you'll most likely not understand a lot of what goes on.
Randomly, is anyone going to be watching the Kiddy Grade sequel that just came out? Kiddy Girl-and it's called apparently. I watched the first ep this morning and am not sure what to make of it yet, though I wasn't sure what to make of KG either until about 9 eps in...
1. BMW is based off SRT/SRW series' system
2. It's a doujin game, it's a fucking fanfic, it's not even close to being connected to the canon.
